10:30 The 13 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear (Die 13 1/2 Leben des Käpt'n Blaubär) is a rather popular fantasy novel from Germany. Even though the novel isn't primarily aimed at children, Bluebear himself used to be very beloved by German kids due him appearing in and gaining a lot of popularity from a children's TV show. Would definitely recommend giving it a read.

I loved the Käpt'n Blaubär cassetes as a kid and always saw the book on our bookshelf at home and when I would ask my mom about it, she always said, that the book is nothing like the cassetes, I knew and I'd probably not like it. Oh boy was she wrong. It's probably my most read and listened to book ever. Read it 4 times and listened to the audiobook (read by Dirk Bach) like at least 10 times. I really love Walter Moers as a writer. His worlds are so colourful, it's amazing. City of dreaming books is also a master class in german writing. He's probably the best german fantasy author within the last decade in my mind. I really hope, Daniel will give it a read (though I have no idea how good it translates into English. As a German I have of course only read the German version)

I love how the bomb usually contains 90% books and 10% weird stuff but the second your mum came on, it was full of weird and/or kinky stuff :'D Also, read the Ice Planet Barbarians, it will change your life. To the worse. Fyi, Walter Moers is one of the nicest German fantasy writers. Full of his own illustrations and the stories are really cool, especially his world building (Captain Bluebeard is also featured in a German kids show and I'd say, he's one of the icons of my childhood :D). I honestly don't know how his stories come across in English though.

What I love about these segments is the generosity on display. I'm sure it must all be really overwhelming and strange to receive, but I'm guessing that most of these people don't often have the chance to share their love of sf/fantasy IRL. Seeing the books that have been meaningful to people is really heartwarming and my too read pile only grows larger. Plus, most of the artists who send stuff in are so talented!

I think it's the second time someone had sent "I am not a serial killer". It is not Dexter. It is written by Dan Wells (Brandon's Sanderson friend and fellow podcaster from writing excuses and Initially blank. The John Cleaver book series is awesome and I recommend it with all my heart.

@@deadsoon Yeah, not the best look, Oda probably isn't very knowledgeable about or much intrested in Africa, judging that all inspiration for One Piece locations so far were either European, Asian or Amerindian, but he could have probably done better than just say Africa. Fans debate about what part of Africa Oda meant since Ussop is fairly pale for a African, popular guesses are North African and South African for obviously reasons.
