Mi glad you're sharing this w/ the world b/c there's such a HUGE misconception that women of black, colored & brown race all wear "hair weaves" to make their hair appear fuller & longer. Mi and a few bffs of mines all are very blessed to have naturally LONG & THICK hair. What upsets mi even the more es wen mi standing en line & the person behind mi es "examining" mi hair to see if it's REAL or not. Some have the courage to ask, but some will just assume it's a weave by saying "that's a real nice weave job you got en your hair...it looks like your real hair". That's wen mi politely, but sarcastically inform dem it es mi real hair [sorry about the Patois lingo, but mi part Bajan & Haitian]. Thanks. Jah bless One love der.

I know exactly what you mean! It happens to me all the time and it can be annoying at times...I understand what your saying I come from a family of Jamaicans where we speak patois all the time.
@chjazzezwarmington10 жыл бұрын
O yah it can be very annoying b/c of the "way" many act / approach mi. Mi duh tek offense to dem asking mi if mi hair's real. Mi just duh like fi dem to sey mi hair es a weave pon mi head wen dey nuh asked first. Chaaa!. Kk kool beans. Bless up empress!

What you are doing is clearly working. I was just wondering what lessons you learned about heat. In the beginning, you said you had heat damage and decided to start over. Now you use heat again. Is the key to using heat frequency? Have you lowered the temperature? Did you add heat protectant?
@HeSeesEbony10 жыл бұрын
Hi! Some lessons I have learned about heat is to always use it in moderation. Before going on my journey I would flat iron my hair every other day and this over time caused heat damage to my hair. Now I do use heat but it is definitely not frequently. I probably straighten my hair every 3 months because I prefer to have my ends clipped on straightened hair. When I straighten my hair the temperature is usually around 350-410 degrees and I always add a heat protectant before I apply heat to my hair.
@sumaiyah200410 жыл бұрын
HeseesEBONY J thank you. That helps. I'm always curious about the heat setting.

I want my hair to be longer, but I have really dry hair, and on top of that, it's extremely think. My hair only goes to my shoulders when it's straight, but in shrinkage form, it gets matted so easily. I know if I grow it out, it'll be huge, too, because it's so thick. How do you manage having a lot of hair? I'm 24 and still haven't mastered it.
@HeSeesEbony10 жыл бұрын
Always try to keep your hair stretched and detangled to counteract your hair from matting, plus it helps with stopping shrinkage. To help with this I like to do braidouts and twistouts. Just listen to what your hair wants. If it's dry moisturize it with water or a water based moisturizer and always be sure to deep condition your hair. That helps a lot to stop matting. :)

Your hair is beautiful! So you never did the big chop without cutting all of your relaxer out or did you just gradually cut it out? I like how you didn't start off super short and still got long healthy beautiful hair. Can u share your natural hair regimen as well?
@HeSeesEbony10 жыл бұрын
Prior to me making the conscious decision to go natural I already was natural. I hadn't had a relaxer in years and my hair grew out so I just gradually had my ends trimmed until I was relaxer free. After I no longer had any relaxed hair left I frequently pressed and flat ironed my hair which resulted in heat damage. After I realized that my hair was badly damaged I made the conscious decision to go natural and gradually clipped off my heat damage hair over time without doing a big chop. I'll be sharing my hair regimen soon in a future video. :)

@HeSeesEbony9 жыл бұрын
Go for it! However I would definitely suggest going to a professional for coloring especially highlights because it can be more damaging then dying your entire head of hair. I'll do a video soon about how I achieve defined twist outs.

I started my natural journey in 2009 and my hair should be longer and it is barely a half inch longer than when I started.....what am I doing wrong? How often do you shampoo? What products do you use?
@MervKamuanya10 жыл бұрын
Lots of moisture!! And protective hairstyles such as, braids, twist outs, ect. There is many researches all around the internet :) and try Tressemé products! They're good
@HeSeesEbony10 жыл бұрын
It may be the amount of protective styling your doing. The less manipulation the better and you should also try to use as little heat on your hair as possible. I noticed that the less heat I used the more length retention I had in the long run. Make sure you moisturize your hair as much as possible with cream based moisturizers (depending on the thickness of your hair will determine how thick your products should be.) I shampoo my hair once a month and throughout the rest of the month I co-wash my hair. I use a wide range of products.

omg how did you get your hair that big i have been natural for like a year and few months and it is really getting frustrating for me i am unable to pack all of my hair up in one and it is really annoying. I have been watching so many natural hair videos through out my months being natural i don't really use that much products. Now my mum is telling me to cut the straight parts and i don't really want to do that because my hair will be really short. Can you please help me i have put numbers of comments on other videos and no one has replied. Please can you help me find shampoo's and conditioner also hair all. Also if it is possible for me to purchase then in the UK or on any safe website that my order will turn up to my house. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME!!!
@DeidaraNSasorizKitty10 жыл бұрын
When you say "cut the straight parts," does that mean you still have relaxed ends? If so, I'd agree with your mom and suggest cutting them out so you don't have scraggly ends. :)
@elizabethodusina174410 жыл бұрын
yh relaxed ends but i really dont wanna cut it can you help me find some products i can use for my hair
@DeidaraNSasorizKitty10 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Odusina Okay, so then you still want to transition? That's completely fine, but just realize that your hair probably won't be completely "big" or "thick" because relaxers break down the protein in your hair, resulting in thin strands. Nothing can revert it back. I'd suggest doing styles that will blend the two textures--like twist-outs, braid outs, or Bantu-knot-outs. As for products, every head of hair is different but I could tell you what I personally use as a possible base? I use Cantu Leave-In Conditioning Repair Creme, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and SheaMoisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl-Enhancing Smoothie daily. Then I use SheaMoisture products for my wash days. But that's just me. :)
@elizabethodusina174410 жыл бұрын
OMG thxs for your help i have watched so many natural hair video and you have really helped me and i am gonna make sure that my mum purchases all these products is it possible to purchase all these things over in the UK. the reason why i don't want to cut it is cus my hair will be really short and i don't want that to happen. so how will i be using all these products in my hair, you might think this sound stupid but your hair is so beautiful and i want my hair to be like yours.
@elizabethodusina174410 жыл бұрын
