I don’t get rid of shit. Powder products I NEVER throw them away. My liquid products I kinda don’t keep longer than, oh about 5 years past expiration lmfao
@PrincessMunkeyPants4 жыл бұрын
Personally, it's only expired makeup if it either smells AWFUL or is completely unusable and breaks me out. Like if a pomade dries up and is more than a year old, I'll toss it. If mascara dries out or gives me an eye infection, bye bye. Eyeshadow stays forever I just sanitize it. Lip products I usually finish before they can even expire in the first place. Foundation until it either gives me a bad reaction or its used up. I always use concealer up way before 6 months, same with primers.

I totally agree that makeup expired when you finish it! I find it wasteful when people toss eyeshadow palettes away after a 24-month period. I understand that it’s different for primer, foundation, concealer, and mascara but other powders are fine!
@becm9634 жыл бұрын
Ashley Nguyen 24 months is generous. Some say 12 months or 6 months. I think it could be a marketing scam to get you to buy more makeup. Modern renaissance and SubCulture have a six month shelf life on the box.
@aradiasnowdon70164 жыл бұрын
@@becm963 It's probably moreso to avoid getting sued. I'm sure it lasts long past the date, they just don't want any chance of it going off before their expiration date. Some brands are shady as hell though and might lower it even more to scam people
@xamyx22054 жыл бұрын
@@aradiasnowdon7016 That's exactly the reason. Back when "expiration dates" began to appear on products, all the major brands at the time actually admitted that was the reason. While there are preservatives, they do break down; however, of one practices good hygiene, using clean, dry brushes, and doesn't stick their fingers in a product, there shouldn't be any real issues.

I so get the eyeshadow fascination, it's the most exciting make-up product to me❤️ I find that everything which has a real expiration date is done by the time the date rolls around. All forms of liquid liner: dried out or used up by the 3 month mark. Mascara used up or formula changes so that's out too. Foundation in pump bottles that are airtight are fine since air can't get to them. Stick foundations or cushion foundations and powders are dangerous though since bacteria can get to them and let's be honest, no one washes brushes or blenders often enough for us not to swipe into face products, put the brushes against our face full of bacteria and break-outs, and back into the face products. So I try to comfort myself by spritzing my powders and eyeshadows with a bottle of 70% alcohol. The alcohol content is supposed to be high enough to kill a good chunk of bacteria, but low enough that it lays on the surface of the powders long enough to disinfect. It doesn't damage the quality, keeps it a lil bit cleaner and the bacteria won't grow🙌
@xamyx22054 жыл бұрын
I actually wash most of my brushes after each use, and I also pour liquid products into a jar or palette... The only brushes I wash once or twice a week are my all-over powder brushes, mainly because I don't have backups of my absolute favorites. I'm also way past the age of breakouts, and I do spot-clean at least once during the week, so that doesn't worry me. As long as a foundation hasn't separated, and one practices good hygiene, it should last well past the arbitrary expiration date. I literally just tossed out a 30 year old bottle of foundation that was still as good as it was when I bought it; on the other hand, I've had foundation separate well before it's expiration date, within months... I should probably add, though, that the 30 year old foundation hadn't been used in ages, but I was cleaning out an old box, and it was in there...
@BelgianBisous4 жыл бұрын
@@xamyx2205 well you're one of the very few. Every poll shows only few people wash their brushes after each use. Also, most people don't have doubles or triples or whatnot of their brushes. I only have 1 brush per purpose. I'm twenty-three so I should start getting out of break-out age but there are people who suffer from hormonal acne well untill their menopause. Also correct me if I'm wrong, but I've only ever seen liquid foundations separate, it's not a problem in powder, stick or cushion foundations and almost all liquid ones have a pump? I do aplaud you for taking the effort to clean them. It's just that I assume the majority of the audience is quite to very young, and without the financial means or dilligence to have multiple sets and/or do daily cleaning (mind too that if you apply blush and dip a second time for your other cheek you are bringing bacteria from your one cheek into the pan. It's just very hard to have make-up be perfectly sterile😛). Have a good day :)

Love Letter and Venetian red turned darker and more difficult to use. physical exfoliation can be great, you just have to be careful about not using products that have too-large scrubby bits that could cause micro tears! things like the rice powder are great, I'm also a fan of the dr. brandt microdermabrasion gel. you want to stay away from things like sugar or walnut scrubs, though, that have those large particles that can actually damage your skin.
