Lots of people feel tired and not well for the first week or two, but by week 3 feel much better. Anita, my wife & I have a weekly lunch at the James Bay Inn (restaurant side). For the last couple of years I'v been ordering my 'carnivore special'. It is a 6 oz top sirloin steak sandwich, which normally comes on a piece of garlic toast, topped with onion rings, and served with chips or salad. I order it rare, sans toast, sans onion rings, sans chips / salad. Instead,I have it served with fried mushrooms & onions (2 oz MAX) and 3 bacon strips. (my one concession each week to plant food but I love the taste of fried onions &mushrooms). They are VERY accommodating and don't charge me extra for the bacon. When we go there for brekkie (before 11:30 AM), I order the Ultimate Canadian which is 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, hash browns & toast. I exchange the 2 carbs for 1 (or 2) more eggs, a 3rd sausage and a 3rd strip of bacon. 😀👍 If anyone in Victoria is looking for a good place for brekkie/lunch, Id' recommend them.

Great video! What you said about starting carnivore and thinking about where this journey will go and wondering if you can never have anything else for the rest of your life... that truly resonated with me. Like you I started at keto back in 2019. Lost 22 kg of weight I gained during menopause. Maintained for quite a while. Until I went into hospital in 2021 for an emergency surgery (appendicitis!) and 4 months later I was back in hospital with lots of physical trauma. Due to years of too much stress (cortisol) and medical issues combined with medical costs I had to pay out of pocket (and only could do that by changing my diet back to very cheap high carbs.... mostly grains and veggies/legumes) I gained the weight all back! Finally am able to do at least one month of carnivore. My food budget for August is €400 (instead of €200). No idea if I will be able to continue based on my finances. But August I am doing carnivore and consider it an elimination diet. Only 5 days in and already so much more relaxation in my head and gut. Belly flatter. Feeling of total satisfaction after eating my steak! No need to eat every two hours. And love the simplicity of it. As you said; just eat meat! ❤ Thanks for this video. @KetogenicWoman4 ай бұрын
It'd actually not a staple in my diet any more but in the beginning it really helped get over the hump. It's almost like a comfort food for many and makes this doable for those that might otherwise struggle. Now I rarely have as my tastes have changed. That said many people do very well with it. So do what is right for you and your situation.

I'm 70 and just getting started. I downloaded an app that said I should be eating 4.3 ounces of meat and 1772 calories a day. 4 ounces of meat seems like it won't keep me going with everything I have going on, and where do I get the rest of the calories? There's only so much butter a body can eat/drink. I have 100 lbs to go and am caregiver for several family members. I need more energy than electrolytes are providing.
@KetogenicWoman5 ай бұрын
Ok, this is a common error. Not your fault, it's just unfortunate that it's not explained better! I'm guessing that the app told you to eat approx 120g protein in a day, which *does not mean weight* It is macros, not weight!. To get about 120g of protein in macros that is more than 1 lb of meat per day. So take a closer look at that, you definitely need and should be eating WAY more than 4 ounces of meat per day.

@KetogenicWoman3 ай бұрын
The answer is 'It depends'. Some people do fantastic just eating the fatty meat until they are full and no tracking. You don't have to worry about the macros if you are eating fatty meats as then you should be getting enough fat and fatty meats are more self limiting than lean meats. So if you try that for a few weeks and not seeing results then it could be time to track to see where you land as far as eating too much or even too little.
