Long story short. Neurologist determined my Peroneal nerve from my knee down was damaged. Had every symptom of Foot drop including massive numbing. Based of many tests estimated heal time was 3 years nerve 10 years for numbness to go away. I wore a ankle brace I bought from Frys (Gel Padding), took massive amounts of L-Glutamine, Massive amounts of vegetables and ULTRA healthy diet, applied heat and stimulated the muscle with exercises. Fully healed in 5 months. Both doctors were surprised.

I understand your pain. I got drop foot when I was 23 & just graduated from PSU. I had a shoe obsession that had to go into hibernation since this injury not only changes your life but your sense of self. Shoe shopping is very difficult but thank the Almighty that flats have become amazingly fashionable (although sometimes an outfit only heels will make). Online shopping for shoes allows a larger variety but depending on your brace you porobably have to try them out.

I have been installing laminate flooring in my room for about 2 days. I worked about 8 hours per day and I was kneeling, crouching and sitting crossed legs a lot (I suppose that I have injured nerves in my knee). When I was done with work I have noticed that I can't lift my right foot anymore. But, at first sight, I was thinking that maybe somehow I have streched or injured a muscle in right leg. Therefore, I waited for 6-7 days before I visited my family doctor (that was a mistake). Two days before I visited my family doctor, I have been reading a lot about the foot drop on the internet. That's why I knew I had a symptoms of foot drop. My family doctor confirmed that I have foot drop and with an emergency procedure she sent me next day (20.11.2018.) to a physiatrist. Diagnosis was laesio nervi peronei and because of that I wasn’t able to lift my right foot. Physiatrist gave me a prescription for the Neurobion (combination of vitamins B1, B6, B12 and other ingredients) and also they have showed me how to perform exercises (you can find similar exercises on yt) at home. I have been taking Neurobion and performing exercises 2 times per day. Today (28.11.2018.) I can lift my right foot normally, I can drive a car and walk properly. But, I don't have yet full strength in my right foot like I had before the injury. Also, 3.12.2018. I need to go on physical therapy (abbreviation is AFT - I don't know what that abbreviation stands for). Physical therapy will last for 10 days, and after that (20.12.2018.) I need to visit that physiatrist again (just because of examination). Btw I am from Croatia, probably in other countries they have a different medicines and procedures. If your injury is similar like mine, don't be afraid. Be persistent with exercises and take your medicine regularly and you will be ok again. Good luck!

On heel no And on toes possible but depends on muscle weakness....means with footdrop muscle weakness comes as supplementary...so its hard to stand but if lateral muscles are working properly patie t cud stand on toes fr a moment.. Not fr long becz it wll ultimately rotate leg laterally. And pt wll imbalance.

I've got compression of the peroneal nerve due to crossing my legs too often, for too long. This has caused foot drop in my right foot. For everyone around my age (20-30) going through the same - don't worry, it gets better! I experienced my first symptoms a good 3 weeks ago, and I wasn't able to move my foot and toes up any further than 90 degrees. Now I can already lift my foot up again and even rest my body weight on my heel again. As my GP and my neurologist have both said, the thing that helps most with this issue is time. Your nerves need to heal and strengthen again. You don't need to give it rest, you don't need to give it exercise either, just let it be and make sure NOT to cross your legs anymore. If you do not notice any improvement - see your doctor anyways and ask for further research into your problems with foot drop. Don't worry everyone, there's light at the end of the tunnel.

excellent news man, I am 29 years old and I have been suffering from foot drop for 5 months, not very serious but it is present, I can completely bend and lift my toes, but when I walk, out of 100 steps, it can happen that 10 times the leg goes empty as in the video, now I'm waiting for an MRI response for lumbosciatica, I'm in the hands of a neurologist, I have no pain apart from in the evening when I sleep I feel a burning sensation on the side of my right knee, good luck man, it can be very frustrating at our age, especially when we do sports

@@K.E.A.9.4. Man, I feel for you. Wishing you all the best in the recovery process and I hope the MRI provides some results so you can get a diagnosis and hopefully some closure. Best of luck - if you need anyone to chat to hit me up.

my very good friend had a stroke about 2 months ago and wasn't found for almost an entire day. He damaged his sciatic nerve from laying in an awkward position on his side for so long. He had alot of swelling in his entire left leg and after researching massage techniques, I was able to help him regain sensation and the swelling went down. He is currently using a walker and his left lower leg muscle has shrunk noticeably. He is also suffering from the same issues in your video. He cannot put any pressure on his left foot and has constant pain as well as numbness which is much worse at night. Is there any treatment other than surgery? He was a very healthy and active man prior to the stroke and now he is stuck sitting in a chair all the time losing muscle tone by the day! I am open to any kind of treatment you may have in mind. i'd love to see him active again! Thank you for the educational video. It has helped pinpoint what has been happening to his foot..

My son had back surgery fusion L3 and L5 and afterwards he had foot drop. Obiviously they caused some nerve damage. Physical therapy has helped some and he is walking some what better. When he runs his foot gets tired fast and foot drop is noticeable when he runs. Above his knee he has no feeling and is numb. It's almost been 5 months since surgery. What do you think? What do you recommend to help him improve his running. Do you think he will get feeling back above knee?
