Nairo is the largest streamer in the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate community, streaming to an audience of almost 300 thousand subscribers. He is one of the community's most revered and loved figures, as he's friends with nearly every other top player. He was formerly ranked 4th in the world as a competitive player before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, recently his name has been embroiled in controversy. This is because, in July 2020, Nairo was accused of having sexual contact with fellow player Captain Zack at CEO Dreamland 2017. At the time, Nairo was 20, and Zack was 15. Initially, Nairo would confess to the claims against him, only to recant his confession a few months later and come out with his side of the story denying Zack's allegations. After his statement, the community began to jump on Nairo's side and even got a hashtag trending number one in the world, campaigning for his return to the community. As a result, several tournaments and organizations would unban Nairo from their events. Many people would like to believe that the truth prevailed in this situation as the king, who was unjustly slandered, reclaimed his spot on the throne. However, this is all BS. Today, we uncover the truth behind these allegations and expose the corruption and nepotism within the community.

i think salem should not still be banned, based upon the fact that what he did was less bad than what others in smash community have done, yet they're still fine but yet salem cant do anything anymore. Not that i think nairo is innocent or anything but he has a very good legal reason to not release his information. It's a situation sometimes called the paradox of statutory rape where acknowledgement of one crime implies the other. Therefore both parties can be guilty of a different crime from the same event. Proving his rape case will incriminate himself for a statutory case. Both parties are quite literally better off not pursuing this any further.

The basis for your argument is really wrong. Many times what people want in situations like these ones is closure, acceptance, and to continue on trying - trying! - to carry on a normal life as much as possible. If the arrangement was reached between the parties involved, and there are no criminal charges being levied by authorities, then it is very believable that those involved have agreed to settle the matter and move on with their lives. This much should be respected by outside parties regardless of the context or circumstances that surround the event. Now, whether that 'exonerates' anyone in the court of public opinion, that is a different matter altogether. I used to support the movement back when the unbanning happened, because without the screenshots it was tough to debunk since there was a settlement and people who previously condemned him switched stances. Tech finding the incriminating tweets was enough conclusive evidence to realize it was not as one sided as Nairo made it seem. I do think some of the people who still support him haven't seen the screenshots just from the fact Tech is the one spreading them and a lot of people just dislike Tech so they don't engage. I engaged without some outside of tech threads and after seeing the screenshots they did start doubting Nairo, so it seems to be, as you said, a problem of mob mentality and following and trusting your favorite top players.

I am speaking about this specific document in particular - in a case where it looked like a grown ass man flirted with a 15-year-old boy and fucked him. This is not one of those cases. If the accused party were stated to be a witch, if memory serves me right, they would be killed. Nairo will face no consequences from being banned, he isn't being jailed, he will still stream his content and have friends on his stream, he isn't losing any money. People in the Salem witch trials were fucking dying. And I get the point you are making isn't that they are 1:1, rather it is akin to that. But no. I still disagree. I just fucking told you the motive behind wanting to see the legal documentation that would exonerate him, and you view that as me saying he's guilty baselessly. People have been banned for less, people have even been arrested and jailed for less. Cinnpie is banned and rightfully so, however there is LESS evidence than her doing anything with Puppeh than there is with Nairo doing stuff with Zack. We literally took his word and banned her ass. ZeRo was banned, rightfully so, but yet again for doing LESS than Nairo, and he was accused of more than Nairo, but had been cleared on all of his accusations except the one, which despite there being a gap between the dates in the screenshots and when the actual conversations took place, there was STILL no incriminating evidence. And yet his ass got banned. Anti, literally wasn't his fault. But he should be banned for displaying he was unfit to be in a circumstance by enabling underage drinking and some other actions. Nairo, from the accounts of 4 different people had been feeding into the immature dynamic of Zack flirting with him. Even if jokingly? As a 20-year-old man at the time, I'm 19, that isn't something that's normal. I wouldn't flirt or cuddle with a middle schooler, that is the last thing I would joke about and it's genuinely disgusting. The only reason Nairo wouldn't be guilty of escalation, is if you somehow manage to believe that he has been getting blackmailed into feeding into that dynamic, the dynamic which has evidence of it being fed into - even unprompted in an instance by Nairo, from the start. And I'm not buying it. I get you saying if the Vic Mignogna situation or the Lui Caliber situation were akin to Salem witch trials, because the parties making the accusations had literally no evidence to substantiate their claims. They cried wolf, and people acted accordingly even when there was no evidence. Even with the Johnny Depp situation, same thing happened. Nairo, if absolved from accountability regarding sexual misconduct with a minor by the document ultimately changes little to nothing because he is still guilty of escalation. If TKBreezy and Dabuz can easily say no or express discontent for how those actions look, I don't see why Nairo couldn't. So then, you have his lawyer come out and explain how he has a document conjured by the 7 magic dragon balls stating how it could exonerate Nairo even with evidence to the contrary, and when so many people are pushing to get you banned and defaming you, you're not going to show it? Maybe he can't but again, it changes nothing. He should still be held accountable for finding it okay to cuddle with and flirt with a minor. By doing those things he expressed that, similar to Anti and MVD, that they shouldn't have been allowed in those situations because they don't have the capacity to do the right thing; they were unable to be held to the standards of a regular adult who wouldn't flirt with a child.

Cagt stated he couldn't remove people from the GBD unless they provided them with evidence contradicting their ban. I am telling you this because they literally operated on a guilty until proven innocent system WAAAY before Technicals campaigned to dispute Nairo's unban. People settle all the time. It is common to see that in a settlement both parties are not to release any legal documents outside of those approved by both parties in the settlement. Heck with plea deals (which is a form of settlement just on the criminal side), we find that not guilty people take them all the time often decades later. So i disagree with your statement that settlement = liable or guilty. Sometimes even if you are correct it is smarter to go for a settlement since 1. The different ways Nairo and Zero are treated by the community for their accusations are baffling. Nairo, we know for a fact he did sexual acts with a minor, but somehow gets exonerated, while Zero supposedly shared hentai with someone who lied about their age online, and we don't even know if it's true, yet Zero takes all the hate. The difference seems to be in their connections.

Well and their attitudes. I remember that went it all went down, Nairo admitted it and ducked out and we never heard from him until he released his legal statement after going to therapy. In contrast, ZeRo then made not one, not two, but three documents explaining himself each time. The problem was that there was language with classic words and phrases that is attributed to classic deflection, gaslighting, and outright negated statments (ZeRo lied). So essentially, he dug his own grave even more when he was in a bad spot in the court of public opinion. Essentially Nairo played it smarter than ZeRo did. ZeRo burned a lot of goodwill before leaving and seeking legal counsel. While Nairo said he did it, ducked out of town, got therapy (paid by NRG, likely a contractual term), and found a good lawyer. What I also think helped Nairo was that Zack was immensely hated in community for his taunting, actions at EVO, his morally ambiguous relationship with Ally (and blackmailing Ally), and match-fixing (big nono in any competitive game or sport). Heck it was bad enough that Zack's friends testified against Zack's original testimony which meant that Zack's credibility went down the drain even more. I am not victim blaming here, but the fact is that the alleged victim here is no saint which likely contributed to the better public perception of Nairo than ZeRo.

I’m usually 50/50 on your videos. There’s a part of me that would like you and tech to cover different topics. However there’s another part of me that appreciates the fact that we should have more videos to bring more attention to specific cases. One person can make a video and not much could happen, but the more coverage there is, the better

19:35 This was the thing I always found very interesting, everyone was always so happy and quick to dogpile Zero and shun him, but with Nairo it was the complete opposite and what Nairo did was arguably so so much worse. The dispropotionate amount of backlash and the sheer amount of bias is honestly astounding. Zero has pointed out in the past the notion that people were always more than happy to go after him instead of focusing on people who were more of a problem or actually deserving of that level of backlash, like oh I don't know, Nairo. I'm genuinely curious as to why people were more concerned with Zero than Nairo and why people choose to defend Nairo, even after just looking at everything the only thing that makes actual sense is Nairo being a word/set of words I likely can't use on KZbin because it'll likely hide my comment

I think it is because ZeRo is simply less likable than Nairo. Remember that even before all the accusations, ZeRo attempted to play the villain, sort of what Leffen did. Unlike Leffen who can revel in his villain persona and sometimes plays it up in the Melee community. ZeRo didn't last as long and got burnt out, but because he didn't try to rehabilitate his image as well as Leffen tried, it comes off as ungenuine and he essentially "left" competitive. In contrast, Nairo came off as the guy who is likable, who wants to be friends with you and overall a kind guy. He also has some positive points of being the first to knock the pegs out of the heel, ZeRo. It comes down to PR. Additionally when all the accusations came out ZeRo, posted not one, not two, but three documents attempting to defend himself. And all those documents had the classic signs and language of a gaslighter, lies easily disproven by reputable members in and outside of the Smash community, and tons of deflections. It was only after ZeRo did all of his that he admitted it and stayed silent then proceeded to sue Jisu (frankly at the wrong time as the community had a semi-sympathetic tone towards her, funny enough the majority of Smash community would slowly turn against her during the Hax, who is her ex, drama) I think if his lawyers timed it better (granted they were pushing the statute of limitations here so, I can understand the rush). In contrast to Nairo, who dipped immediately and came out with a swinging statement from his lawyer who cited Nairo's therapist and three reputable Smash community members. It also helped Nairo rehabilitate his image slightly by having Zack exposed as a completely manipulative bastard by multiple members of the community, Zack's own friends testifying against Zack, banned for match-fixing and blackmail, and attempting to get together with other older guys when Zack was a minor. those are some of the reasons why there is a difference between the reactions of ZeRo and Nairo.

Is Nairo guilty yes. Should he be banned in tourneys even though he wont attend nor have plans to ? yes. When I discovered Nairo I didn't know about his story with CptZack. Do I believe that he can still make YT content yes, its wrong what he did because he wasn't the adult in that situation but I do believe some people can change. Technicals isn't in the wrong though, techs just wants him ban and not let Nairo restream the events, it is bs how techs got global banned by making a parody of him chocking the chicken to a chick that sells that type of content, now that's what I do call BS.

Good point. But, in my opinion, ZeRo needs to be banned for the sake of PR. More people probably heard all the allegations than Technicals' debunking them, with the exception of the Katie stuff. And more people would probably not have heard how he's not a pedo from Tech, rather that they would think he is. I think Tech knows this, he said that the Katie thing is good grounds to keep him banned. (This is not important to my argument, but let's not forget that ZeRo's 1000% retired from tournaments, so he wouldn't go to any of them in the first place.)

I'm not gonna lie this hurt to watch, but this needed to come out! Nairo is someone I love and support a great deal and when the whole allegations of 2020 came out I was heartbroken. I didn't want to believe it, but when Nairo's statement came out, I immediately accepted it as true, because I, as well as many if my friends wanted nairo back. Still over the past two years, I watched Techs videos about the Captain Zack and Zer0 case and they both left me with some unsure feelings, still what both provided was the truth. Still today, even after watching these videos, that dive into the truth of what happen a part of me wants to deny it, because of my blind faith in Nairo and just wanting things to back to how they were. It's shitty I know, but that's the power of influencing young audiences. I'm 18 now, and I've been enjoying the competitive scene since I was 14. I've never competed in tournaments, just watched them and saw top players be awesome. But yeah, Nairo dropped the ball so hard. Like why...even though I don't think he's truly a sick pedophile, just why would he put himself in these situations as the adult? It shows a lack of maturity and responsibility. Thus he should be banned.

A lot of people don't understand why nairo would put himself in a situation like this, but there has been a lot of speculation about Nairo having some kind of autism which may explain why he reacted the way he did in this situation. But once again it's all based off speculation there is not real evidence that nairo actually has some kind of autism

I understand how you feel it's happened to me and many others I wanted to think were innocent but weren't. Nairo may not be the monster people portrayed him to be but he sure isn't a saint is a real idiot to have put himself in that situation in the first place. All I've learned is to never put people on pedestals and to distance myself from content creators and stop seeing them as people I should up to and instead as people whom can entertain me for a little.

Are you talking about Nairo or Zack? Nairo was 19 at the time and has been attending without a guardian for years. Some places allow you to book hotels and the like even young as 16 without a guardian, though most usually require you to be 18. I think Zack's situation is a bit weird and they usually don't accompany him to a smash tournament. The grassroots community is based on trust. Though you can call it naive, it is essentially a community of people who have passion for their small niche and such that everyone knows each each other and willing to trust each other it is how it was for decades since Nintendo is pretty hostile to them even pre-2020 scandals. Also the community has a huge distrust with large companies coming diwn and imposing their will. Even grassroots communities have favorable views towards the creators are hesitant toward their parent companies for reasons such as too much control imposed (Nintendo gives some strict requires) and past behavior (Street Fighter was this until Capcom proved that they could be trusted to let the community run mostly on their own). Now this can lead to problems down the line as a scene grows bigger. Examples may include ingroup behavior and nepotism. Not necessarily saying that the Smash community as a whole is this (it has gotten pretty damn big such that there are several cliques and production companies with competting interests), but a good chunk of people don't forget about their grassroots origins.

The parents likely interacted and met locals and people who would accompany Zack to tournaments and ended up trusting then. Before 2020, there weren't any major scandals involving children like this before, the parents likely trusted these people and that Zack would be responsible enough to keep out of trouble. You can say it is naive or irresponsible of them but without knwon Zack's parents I wouldn't make conclusions about them.

Before a lot of the stuff came out, most people didn't imagine that there could be quite a relationship underneath. In fact most people who saw these things, even at locals testified that they thought the two were just really close friends. Same with the Puppeh and Cinnpie thing because people knew she wsaa mentoring him, so they thought it was teasing. The vast majority of people are not going to assume the worst (you know statutory rape or illict relationship) without adidtional information or context. This is a classic hindsight is 20/20. Now afterwards, well we have more context now.

Strange thing is that in Sweden, where I'm from, the age of consent is 15. And even when a 14 year old girl/boy gives consent to a 20 year old the court would take into consideration the circumstances and give a lot less harsh punishment if the situation was that the 14 year old made advances. I'm NOT at all saying it's right but it's interesting to me that if this was in Sweden (which a lot of Americans see as a great example of a country) this would have been a talked about thing but both players would most probably still be in the scene without any bans or much stigma as a result. My personal thinking is that the answer probably lies somewhere between the Swedish and US approach. I feel like in Sweden it would've been less likely that young people (15-25 year olds) were living together in a "bubble" but that there would've been an older generation around to question these things. The US seems ruthless in that sense, just leave a bunch of kids alone to figure things out with an overflow of alcohol and hormones, some of them grow up to be legal adults and stuff like this happens. And then if you're convicted your spend the rest of your young adult life in prison with some terrible people. That's what's most painful about the smash scene for me, that such a dangerous culture was allowed to grow with parents sending their your kids to these events as 15 year olds without checking if there are people from the parent generation present to make sure everybody was safe. I'm not gonna blame Nintendo for statutory rape... but their decades of negligence of the smash scene sure hasn't helped these events to be a safe place for young people.

I just wanna say this cause it kinda has relevance to this case, not defending or going against nairo here but just leaving it here to help with perspective. Probably over 20 years ago Dave chappelle had a comedy special on HBO and in it, made a statement. “How old is 15 really”. On face value it seems like a bad call but he’s made interesting points. He first brought up a case about a 15 year old girl who got kidnapped for months and when she was rescued she was welcome back rightfully, his problem is that she had a lot of opportunities to actually escape and she wasn’t far away from home so had she thought more she probably could’ve gotten away. Now ofc you’re thinking “she was only 15 there’s no way she’d think like that” so he made another example. A 15 year old boy was practicing wrestling moves with his neighbor and in the process accidentally killed him (I don’t know how but that’s irrelevant). And when the kid was in court they tried him as an adult and gave him life in jail. So on one hand you can’t have a 15 year old girl the benefit of the doubt about her logical thinking in a kidnapping situation, while also putting a 15 year old boy in jail for life over an accident. Defend nairo or hate him at least take this into consideration before making a judgement. And also for the girl being kidnapped case. Another girl not even 10 years old got kidnapped and in less than an hour chewed her way through her bondages and escaped and had the kidnappers in jail in less than a day. So if someone do young could escape and think like that, a 15 year old girl should be able to too.
