The pacing of the story was spread a bit too thin for an audio format. Too much flicking back and forth between characters. It's fine in a novel format, because you can use extra lines to show the scene has changed. But this definitely needed some amount of editing to flow better. Great story otherwise.

@@griffinimbier-maher9764 She's Chaotic Neutral. Neither good, nor evil. She is a victim of the land, and outragiously powerful, powerful enough to become the patron of a cleric and grant powers like a demon might for a warlock (nim became a part warlock after that as the two sides of him vied and fought for power). She's not evil. But she was honmest. She burned a whole city to the ground in her history, because they took from her someone she cared for.

@@griffinimbier-maher9764 I make sure all the players are unaware of each others backstories, this is to give them actual roleplay between each other to foster actual connection and comraderie. Uh well Sage the homebrew vampire feels horribly guilty about the city being burned in defense of him, and is missing his "Dad", as Nim the one who burned the city has vanished on his own. :) Although sage is very, very happy to be rid of his toxic family, and free to voyage with his companions. Our party has moved onto the next city, and ran into a wonderful paladin who Sage got along with almost instantly. The rest is to be seen. -Sage De La Fontaine.

After that episode, the cleric will have to atone for the damage and death wrought through their use as an instrument was evil, assuming the cleric isn't actually evil. How many innocent men, women, and children were killed just to punish one individual, an individual that will be tortured to death, reborn, and tortured again? These are all evil acts, indiscriminate mass murder and torture, as defined by the D&D alignment system as the cleric caused so much harm to others regardless of their actual intent. Also, the choice of words in the story was a little off, like someone trying to write a novel but failing to use the appropriate words. For example: "These were his qualifications for his backing of the new Fespain Spice trade". That is not the right word to use as qualifications means an accomplishment that makes someone suitable for a particular job or activity. Demand, stipulation, or requirement would have been all better choices. There were several of these instances throughout the story that just seemed odd...

A little hard to keep up, with all of the characters and sudden scene changes. Maybe if there were visual scene changes, a long story like this would be easier to follow.

copy and pasted to someone who said the same thing: Thats the price of something in TXT, where I can write it and leave spaces so its obvioous when the scene changes, versus reading it fast like what this guy did. I think it came out well, but yeah, I can understand it getting confusing.

@@ElysianOutcast There is some parallels though to the one in this story. Fontaine was a businessman, a smuggler, and a thug. He gets up in Rapture, the underwater libertarian paradise created by Andrew Ryan. While in it, at his docks they discover a sea slug that produces a venom that can be used to give people magical powers of sorts. He hires scientists to exploit it. They found they can splice it into young girls and they will actually produce even larger quantities of it and it can be formed from them. He decides to leverage a take over of Rapture from Ryan. Civil war breaks out. Ryan destroys the section of the underwater city Fontain is in, killing everyone in it. Soon afterwards is when the main character, played by you, comes in. The city is wrecked from the war between the two sides, people hunger for the ADAM, the drug that gives the powers, and gone mad. And there is a faction run by a dude named Atlas leading the resistance that would kindly ask you to assist him in bringing sanity to Rapture.

It was easier in txtr form, and the change of scenes was because everyone was in different locations. In the campaign, I had music on, I was quickly flitting between each person, as things began to unravel, finding out what they were doing, little bits here and there, keeping the pace, keeping the tension until it all rose to a cresendo. It was extremely effective and very cinematic and the players fucking LOVED it and I'm quite proud of how it went (especially as the entire event was entirely unplanned)
