Natalie, you are a great teacher. I'm a 43 year old guy from Denmark, and I've always wanted to be able to do a kick up handstand against the wall, but I used to get dizzy just from tying my laces. In january 2020 I began following your Couch to Handstand 30 Day Challenge - not every day, but a couple of days a week. When I reached Day 20, I had to stop, because it was to difficult for me. I was overweight, and I didn't have the strength to lift and hold my own bodyweight. I paused the challenge, but I was still motivated. I changed my diet, started running, doing calisthenics and cardio training. When I started loosing weight, I picked up your Handstand 30 Day Challenge again from Day 1. Now 6 months later I've lost 20kg, and I have compleated your challenge to the end, and it makes me so happy. I'm now doing your Handstand Practice For Beginners, and I'm able to kick up and hold a handstand against the wall with relative ease. Your challenge was a great motivation for me, and this journey has made me believe that anything is possible. Thank you very much.

Thank you ! I’m on day 14 today, and it’s going very smoothly. No fear. I really like the pace. A question that is often going through my mind is what do I do with my knees (in some exercices). Like do I have a micro bend, do I lock them ? On day 13 I filmed myself cause I had a hard time telling if my hips were above my hips when my feet were on the stool. And I was quite happy with form seing where progress can be made. But those 3 times with the leg up were hard !! I paused the video to do it a fourth time to do it twice on each legs and couldn’t hold it ! Ahah So I thought « hum Natalie really knows what she’s doing! » (not that I was doubting in the first place). Still working on the mind body connexion. Definitely feel stronger and more at ease ! Thank you !

Day 1: Just finished and I feel a lot stronger already. My core is exhausted but I just kicked up to handstand with my core engaged and held it for like 2 seconds. Didn't need the wall because a strong core and a gentle kick-up prevented me for going over. Looking forward to tomorrow!

A little about myself; I’m 25 years old, weigh app 90kg so I’m a heavy guy and unfit. But this workout was brilliant, I feel better, more flexible even, I would definitely recommend anybody in doubt to go ahead with it. I’m still not even close to holding a handstand but I can feel my shoulders and wrists getting stronger as Natalie slowly makes me add weight to them. feel stronger and hopeful! Headstands are a useful pre-knowledge in terms of coordination and body awareness. the specific things that you need to build for the handstand are core strength, upper body strength and balance which is quite different from the headstand.

Natalie thank you. Do you mean for the super handbalancing that you do you are kind of balancing the inner part too?
@NatalieReckert5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jake, Do you mean the centering exercise? Balance can be explained in many ways, for example you can look at the technical elements that create the balance in the handstand. But at the end of the day balance is an intrinsic/inner feeling. Because the process of balance is so complex, focussing on the bodily FEeling of balance can be really useful when tying all the strings of technique togehter. Does this answer your question?
@vijeth5975 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your video. It's been very helpful. I have a question. Can person with hyper extended elbow practice handstand?
@NatalieReckert5 жыл бұрын
Hello Vijeth, Thank you for taking part in this 30 day journey. Yes, you can practice handstands if your elbows are hyperextended. You should always make sure that you don't have pain and if you do have pain, give it a rest. Also add some extra push ups to your training routine to strengthen the elbows. I have hyperextended elbows myself and I am fine.

Hallo Natalie, was meinst du genau mit Putting the Nable towards the Spine. Soll sich hierbei der Bauch einziehen und die Hüfte/Hintern leicht nach hinten bewegen, ähnlich einer Einleitung in den Squat? Sehr interessantes Video 👍🏼
@NatalieReckert4 жыл бұрын

@NatalieReckert4 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience, great to have you on board. Navel to the spine - imagine the front of your stomach is a surface, try to pull that whole surface closer to your spine. Some people describe it as sucking the stomach in (like you would if you are trying to appear thinner). But at the same time you still need to be able to breathe so you have to find a middle ground. Hope that helps

Just started today! Anyone gone from couch to handstand already? If I do all thirty days in a row what are chances of being able to hold a handstand?

Hi Thomas, welcome on board! Check the comments of video number 30, the last week seems to be the most challenging. After 30 days you should be bale to hold a bit with the wall. Freestanding takes a bit longer than that ;) Have fun and let me know how it goes. Best wishes

Hey Natalie!! Can you please explain what you mean by pull your navel in towards your spine in detail please
@NatalieReckert5 жыл бұрын
Hello Prithvi, It feels a bit like pulling the whole front surface of your stomach closer to the back, towards your spine. Or a bit like when you are trying to make yourself look slim by pulling the stomach in a bit. I will also explain more abaout it in the following videos.

Natalie what means when ibyoga talks: put your navel?
@NatalieReckert5 жыл бұрын
Hello Maria, pulling the navel or front of your stomach in, in the direction of your spine is a common way in handstand teaching to tell students how to activate core/ stomach muscle strength. Pulling the stomach towards the spine makes you stronger and your handstand better.
