As you might know, I have struggled with sleep, insomnia, and depression since I was a child. Now I finally am able to sleep again, and although I sometimes struggle with sleep (mainly when other stuff is going on in my life), I can say that I no longer suffer from insomnia.
I used to be on Sleep Medication but it was not fun since it left me groggy for half of the day, not to mention the other side-effects. But luckily there are so many natural remedies, habits, and tips that can help us sleep better.
In this video I talk about lucid dreaming, sleep, how to choose a natural mattress, movement, breathing exercises, nightmares, technology, light, food, the importance of having a healthy bedroom and what to do when things are not going your way and how to be kind to yourself.
Thank you so much for watching 🌺

I used to not be able to fall asleep without music, but eventually I gradually started to not need it as much. It truly is a process:)

Good tips. I am 60 and have had to deal with insomnia all my life. For chronic insomniacs especially please be kind to yourself. There will be good and periods. Always take time in the day to slow down as well as having quiet evenings.

I've also suffered from insomnia for many years, and one tip that I have is to not focus on and obsess over how tired I'll be in the morning. In fact, I do the opposite. I Quietly focus on the fact that I will be alert and awake. This has helped me fall asleep -- and to wake up without that dread of being tired. Obviously, my body and mind aren't functioning at peal levels, but telling myself that I'm exhausted, tired, prone to make mistakes only seems to make it all feel worse.

That’s a great tip! I will try that 😍 thank you! My dad would tell me to just rest and I find that quite helpful. Instead of thinking “I’m not falling asleep” I try to think “I’m resting, so I will feel energized tomorrow”. A bit similar :)

I’ve suffered from insomnia my whole life. Now I’m struggling more than ever. Your tips are better than most but my problem is my rage and grief keeping me awake and I need to find a way to release them. If you’re vegan you might have some understanding of why I feel this way (the global atrocity of carnism). ✌🏻💚

Hi, oh I understand that. Especially after my mom died and right before I spent to much time being angry, and I know what it feels like. Not being able to sleep because mg whole body was overheating (literally) with anger and my mind busy plotting for change. I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling❤️ Yes! I also understand the vegan point. I’ve been vegan for 8 years and the first two years the anger was almost unbearable. Now it’s a bit easier, but your comment makes me feel la much better because I actually just spoke to an old friend who just got into that carnivore diet 😟 I am planning on making a video on how to deal with trauma, but I might add anger to that list too ❤️❤️❤️

Switching to a light alarm made all the difference for waking up and setting a pattern for myself! Especially in the winter time when I am usually up before the sun.

My two tips. 1) place a genuine wool cover or blanket under your bedsheet. It will help with areation and pressure points. It can also be placed under the cloth mattress cover. 2) read something before bed, but only printed matter and not on an electronic device. Small print tends to tire you out faster. It should be unrelated to work or study and have only print. Sometimes only one or two pages is sufficient.

Red light therapy from a fire in a fireplace or candles even lanterns(real ones, not battery operated ones) can be very beneficial for helping with insomnia, also watching the sunset!!!....great video with helpful tips....and don't forget "grounding".....harder to do in the winter months....but wonderful the rest of the year.....

I have insomnia too. This is because of my meds. They come with the "lovely" side effect: insomnia. I have a love for my bed and that's probably effected by my autoimmune disease. Fevers every now and then and complete exhaustion. So, I hit my bed and listening to audiobooks. That's why my bedroom needs to be minimalistic and not full of distractions. That will stress me out. I have almost white walls (close to white) and nothing on the walls. I love it! Plus I always have company with my two cats. They want to stay close to me. Sometimes too close hahaha! I do meditate but probably not as much as I should be doing. Many great tips from you and I will listen again and write them down. Even though my insomnia is medical, they may change a bit for me. Thanks!

I am the same! My bedroom needs to be clean and empty, if not sleeping becomes difficult. Sorry to hear about your disease, but hopefully this can help a bit 🙏🏻 cats in bed are the best company!!!

@@SagaJohanna Thanks for your kindness. I’m okay with my many health issues plus my mental issues as well. As long as I’m happy and I am, I’m totally okay. Acceptance is everything and continue with help from my doctors. I can’t complain much really. When I write about myself it’s just stating facts. Channels like yours also helps me a lot. They give me hope for the younger generation plus many great tips! I take a little here and there and see how it works out in my life. I really do love minimalism. Great work on your channel! Btw, Instagram? I can’t remember if you actually mentioned it in some of your videos. Brain fog! Yup. That’s okay. That’s why I use my phone as a reminder. Love ❤️

Thank you for this. I don't suffer from insomnia (thankfully) but I do get the occasional sleepless night which is annoying. One thing I am trying, and that is to put my bedside light in "quarantine" for a few weeks and see how I get by without it. I now read for a while before switching off the main light and this tells my mind that "now it is time for sleep" rather than switching the bedside light on and off all the time just so that I can read a little more. Jury is still out but seems to be working so far. Also, if I do decide to do without a bedside light permanently, then I will question my "need" for a bedside table as I feel I mostly have it in order to support the bedside light! As another commenter said below, I really like to have an almost empty bedroom and have got rid of a lot of the furniture that was in it. So much more peaceful. PS I am hoping for an update on your van conversion soon. Sounds like a lot of hard work! But the payoff will be worth it I hope.

Such a good tip. I’m the same, if I leave the bed light on I might read for a few hours,… Yes! I really want to share it to, but we’ve had a few hurdles so nothing to film really. But really hoping this will change this week! Have been talking to my grandfather to hopefully start going forward again!! ❤️

I've also started minimalist living, and love it. Keep making videos, it really inspires me. I'm just wondering, I want to replace the mattress on my bed but don't know which to choose. What is the name of that mattress you had when you lived in the apartment? I come from Norway, so I could probably write in Norwegian, but thought maybe someone else was wondering the same thing. Ha en bra dag!

Hej Tonje! Takk :) We used an organic latex mattress. The one we had was made here in NZ, so won't ship to Norway, but if you can find an independent company (not IKEA or Hästens) that make a 100% organic latex mattress in a cover, that would be my suggestion! It is really the only option for a non toxic and long lasting mattress, some of them have organic wool as well. In Europe I know Dorsal sells one, but I think it's quite expensive. There should be one in Scandinavia, or if not, at least I'd think Germany or France! :) Good luck finding one, I'll have to find one too when we move back! Hade
