Mike, this is a fantastic lesson. I’m non military, been shooting my whole life… I’m a decent shot, trial and error hardcore, even now. My wife and I have really grown addicted to the entire sport of shooting/hunting and instructing her has been rewarding but challenging from a leveling standpoint, struggling to just keep the barrel in the right direction of fire, not mentioning all the other basics: trigger pull, anticipating, footage, holds.. I struggle with leveling myself. We will both implement this technique, next weekend, at the range. Just practicing with our dummy rounds in the living room right now, we’re both seeing an improvement with alignment instantly. We are local to you I think, Eagle Mountain area of Utah. We need a coach like you guys. It would be awesome if you have any recommendations for the area. Thank you sir.

7 years of training from scratch. 2500+ to instructors and not one of them explained this to me. As I got better, acquiring the target via the front site is what slowed me down. It created spot of uncertaintly and delay just before I shoot. I can't wait to get to the range and work on this, thanks.
@timbow502 жыл бұрын
For more than twenty years me and my son have used this technique in our " shoot to kill?" practice range scenarios. It's basically just " point & fire" with literally thousands of rounds from various pistols. One major advantage using this technique is when using your offhand shooting. I think people who are mentally committed to usingthe sights are setting themselves up to loose time while otherwise they could have already fired that first and MOST IMPORTANT ROUND. I believe that many revert intheir mind they need to hit that tiny little 2-3" oval score ring. Get that out of your head people! There is at least an 8" diameter zone in the torso that needs to hit with the first shot. Man, I'm 72 years old and still learning from your videos!!!👍👍

Very similar to the technique Jim Cirillo said he used in many gunfights, which was imposing the rear silhouette of his revolver onto the target rather than sight focus. If you don't know who Jim Cirillo is, he was NYPD stakeout squad and was engaged in many close range gunfights during his career.

I would love to hear these guys talk about what sorts of targets/human shapes are most commonly engaged in combat and how paper target profiles might be adapted to help us get over the mental hurdles of being presented with an oddly shaped/positioned target. Really good drill, I like the concept. Can't wait to begin applying. Instinctual drills in general are the key to survival if you have to apply violent action to defend yourself. This goes from unarmed combat tactics up to firearms. Drills imo should be simple & direct for maximum effectiveness. When shit goes down, adrenaline spikes & vision narrows the last thing you usually have time for is to run through steps mentally.
