I happen to know a guy that’s flown both the legacy hornet and f-16 on squadron. His assessment of the probability of victory between hornet and viper was viper wins 70% of the time, all else equal.

@@nitonono4143 look, I’m just regurgitating what the guy who actually flew them told me; but that was only as regards BFM. As far as I know, in BVR it’s much more complicated than that. What generation of systems are being used is a much bigger factor than which airframe they are attached to. Basically, if we are comparing a current FA-18F to a 1980s F-16 the viper is going to be in big trouble in BVR. That said, literally nothing more than his assessment of the BFM probability was told to me. He won’t say anything: literally anything about what systems are in any of the jets he flew. Not missiles, radars, nothing. So beyond his basic opinion (based in his experience in both jets) of the BFM fight I have no insight into what would happen if a hornet fought a viper. And I think it’s reasonable to say that, unless you’re privy to secret information about fighter capabilities you can’t really have an informed opinion either. You can read everything published and all you will have are a large collection of assumptions about what the capabilities are.

Growling do you adjust the joystick curves vertical much to make it easier to keep your speed up. I find I pull just a little and the speed drops like a speedboats? Interested in tips so I can fly the Viper better. Thanks

Do you aim ''manual'' with the + sign or does the aircraft do the final aiming? What is that thick double square sign that is directly on the airplane (HUD)?
