I ran cross country and track in college and I really wish I could go back and do it again. As a 38 year old I'll never have the speed I did when I was 19 and it's a damn shame that I didn't dedicate myself to the craft like these guys do. Much respect for all of these guys.

I understand what you are saying. Still, the only time that we have to make decisions is in the present. There were reasons at the time that your referenced and you chose not to pursue running more seriously. Perhaps you have reasons not pursue it now? You say that you will never have the speed of your 19 year old self. Are you sure? I'll bet there are some 38 year old runners breaking your old PRs every weekend. It is all relative - don't regret! Now is all you will ever have.

Corey I feel the same way at 33. I had a scholarship for cross country and track at a D1 school and was not adequately prepared for the strong academia curriculum at a top tier university. I was Captain my sophomore year, predicted to make leaps and bounds and was kicked off the team, had poor mentorship and became lost in a world of catch-up. I still have dreams tho, I am currently working on getting back into shape, Good luck to you too man and try that Nike Run app.

+Louis Hobbs you obviously know absolutely nothing about distance running. If you did, you would know that ches is clocking times and winning titles that are almost on par with some of the best pros on the diamond league circuit right now. Flotrack predicts that he will be the 5k and 10k champion at the next US Olympic trials. Yes, there are some Kenyans that are better than him right now but that doesn't take anything away from how good he is considering the fact that during this race he was only a college athlete. Also, Galen Rupp would not have "cooked" him; possibly beaten him, but remember that Rupp was trained by Alberto Salazar from the time he was a high schooler.
@nickdorai35827 жыл бұрын
Louis Hobbs Do you seriously think that he's running at his maximum here? He's running to win. You say he's not Olympic material, but then you don't deny that he could win the trials. You essentially say that a sub par athlete that is not Olympic material would win, but that he (or she) still would not be Olympic material because the US trials are nothing compared to the Olympics where the Kenyan athletes race. Ever heard of Matt centrowitz who beat ASBEL KIPROP, a KENYAN who has run 3:26 for the 1500. How about Galen rip? Clayton Murphy? Don't insult athletes like them. Maybe he would lose, but just winning the trials would verify his place at the top of the world of distance running. And as far as your comment about him never winning a diamond league race: anyone who can win the US trials can win a diamond league race. Of course this is all assuming he gets it done at the trials in 2020...
@nickdorai35827 жыл бұрын
Louis Hobbs yeah you're an idiot. Ed Ches will probably close out his NCAA career being known as the greatest distance runner in the organization's history. Clayton Murphy just ran 1:43 IN APRIL. He also medaled in the OLYMPICS. Centro just won an OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL. Shut up about how they can't hang with Kenyans. How fast are you? Probably really freaking slow: don't disrespect guys who work incredibly hard every day and push their bodies to the limit for the sport. And tbh I don't care about what track and field news thinks about him right now. He's in college u dip. Read my above comment... I'm saying that it is inevitable that he will be a globally competitive athlete at the next level in YEARS TO COME (I specifically cite the year 2020). So you can chill out with ur swearing and moaning. I won the argument which usually happens when idiots like u can't handle being wrong. If u want to respond maybe show some respect for who ur arguing with as well as urself and stop cussing like an imbecile.

I wonder how much less distance Ches might've ran if he would've stopped trying to move outside to let someone take the lead that didn't. 2 to go he moves over but stays in the lead

+donna brazile that's what I did at my final meets in Hs like regionals and states in xc and TF...I was like "bump it, I know y'all all about 15 seconds faster on average, but I'm bout to shake things up a bit.. " look up mitca d1 team states 1600..I raced #1 guy in the state, he's a beast... but I have him a Lil run for his money💀😎👍..I ranked 2nd and finished second.. but still.. ended up being my PR too at 425...

@paparon90fon Exactly what I said yesterday bc I’m a 10 grader and was ranked ninth for the state meet in xc so I took it out fast and led and ended up winning the state title with a 15:52

KubemTheGray same I’d say especially cause it was outdoors I believe he had a solid cross season that year depending on if he was focused more on the 5000 I’d say he was probably around 27:30-27:45 just because he has focused on the 5000
