Parking in Chicago is insane. No way they thought it was ok to park there. They deserved it!

Agree. They were told they could park there... By someone they should have known had no authority to grant such permission. I was actually reminded of an old story where a carpool driver kept driving up into OP's yard and hitting a decorative barrel. So OP took the barrel and filled it up with water, in the dead of Canadian winter, let it solidify over the weekend, and put it out Sunday night. Guy smashed his car, called the cops then had to explain how he kept intentionally driving up onto private property to destroy it.

Hey don’t mess our parking spots in winter here in the upper Midwest. We don’t play with that shit here. When it gets down to negative 20-30’s regularly and it’s pure hell getting our cars ready then steal our spots. You’re lucky we just ice your car out and not get more creative and destructive showing our displeasure.

That last story, every time I hear it, I get angry at those "parents". A sick dog? Really? And not even YOUR dog? I mean, I loved my cat when I had her, but come on. I hope he makes multiple copies and stores them on every electronic device he owns. Then, once a year on his wedding anniversary, he can upload it onto all his social media and tag his parents and sister. It's the least they deserve.

I was supposed to be able to see my daughter for six weeks each summer. (I was supposed to have every other weekend too, but her mother took her out of state, and Oregon courts suck.) One summer my daughter went back after two weeks because her new boyfriend's grandmother got sick. When my mom (her grandmother) was dying, she didn't come. She didn't even call. I've decided to write her out of my will and the family trust.

@@cadence1151 A baby born prematurely would be very small. Average weight for a boy baby at a normal birth is around 7½ pounds, so there's no way a 9 pound baby could be premature. Mom was heavily pregnant at the wedding, which means she and Dad did the horizontal tango several months before they were married. The parents may have hidden this oops on their part by keeping visitors away from the baby until he was several months old and would seem a reasonable size for a baby of that age.

Last Story: Honestly, even if the sister has some sort of condition, the parents could have easily split up. One could have taken care of the sister and the other could have gone to the wedding. He cut them off after they missed his wedding and told them it would cost X amount of money to buy themselves back into low contact and then put pay scales after that to meet his wife or their grandchildren. His exact response to my wtf comment was “well to them money is love and if they want to show they love me then they need to express it in their own love language.” I don’t think they ever payed up so he is happy living his own life without them.

Story 1 play stupid games win stupid prizes. Always look for signs when you park. Story 2 same Story 3 my oldest brother was born 3 1/2 months after my parents were married. He weighed in at 8 and a half pounds. My mother hated me, her youngest for several reasons. One of those was was calling her out on that particular thing. I was 8 and my brothers were 11 and 12. Guess I blind sided all of them while I openly did the math over dinner after being berated all day. My father sheepishly admitted to it and the monster demanded to know who told me. I said they did. It was their anniversary, my brother was born 3 1/2 months later. He was way bigger than any premie I ever saw. Our neighbors had twins born 2 months early, they were only a couple of pounds. I got beat pretty hard for that and grounded for a year. I might have let it slide if she had just let it go… oops, her bad. Made it a point to knock her off her high horse every time she tried to dog me in public and family gatherings. Sorry you had a mother like that but glad you got some payback! I think you'll like my story, too. Growing up, of course we knew our parent's anniversay date. I'm oldest and when I was a teenager I realized my birthday was a suspicious 9 months + 1 week after their "anniversary." Oh, yeah... They also supposedly eloped and there were NO photos or any mementos from their wedding. This is NOT like my Mom, AT ALL. Meanwhile, parents had divorced when I was in middle school. Finally when I was in my 40s I asked my Dad if they "had to" get married. My Dad laughed so hard I knew immediately it was true. Then he asked, "How'd you figure that out?" and I replied "Because I CAN COUNT!" My Dad has since passed. Never told my Mom I know. We are LC for other reasons but still not bad enough for me to throw that in her face. I know she'd hate it that I know. And you know I like just knowing, though!! 😁 Still curious about their real wedding date; I'll look it up in public records when I'm in the mood for another laugh. 😂

I've heard the last story multiple times before, and each time, it makes me smile to know OP has people in their life, who love them enough to be angry on their behalf, after seeing the parents hurt them on yet another special day in their life. The best friend gets my respect for doing this, and the parents deserve to be named and shamed after a lifetime of letting OP down. There is no way to "make up" for a lifetime of neglect, especially when the parents are in denial about their actions being a problem to begin with. And no, even if the sister had a condition, it's still no excuse to miss out on their other kid's milestones, because she "didn't feel like going out" or "her dog is sick." Hire a babysitter/enlist a relative to mind her/find alternative care/scold her to get off her ass and attend that graduation, basket ball game, and wedding anyway, instead of making excuses. Even if you're ND, there is no excuse for deliberately pitching a fit on the day your sibling is the center of attention instead of you, repeatedly, and neither is there an excuse for enabling that bratty behavior for years on end. He sounds like someone who’d do that. Not saying that the icing wasn’t deserved (it would have definitely gotten around via word of mouth and I doubt any of the other guy’s friends would believe him about parking there after that). Just saying that if it was something like that, and they’d been lied to about permission, etc., that the owners of the towed cars sued the idiot AH who told them to park there, and that he had to pay all towing fees himself, out of pocket. I would tell them I know how important dog’s happiness is to them. It would be a win/win. They know you will never let it go or forgive them, and their selfish asses get nothing while dogs get taken care of. I wouldn’t get the sister anything but therapy sessions or books for narcissistic people. If they have a problem with any of it, aka owning up to how they hurt me with the choices they made, no contact. My parents died when I was young. I know they would’ve done anything to walk me down the isle and have a dance with me. So sad for the parents that take that for granted when so many of us would give anything for one more moment. Shame on them. I hope OP can heal from their abuse.❤

That's brilliant! Donations are the better gift for people who can't be bothered to be there for OP. And that can be in their Birthday and Christmas cards that they'll get in lieu of OP's presence. They can't be bothered to show up, now, neither can OP.

Story 5: If the eldest child had some kind of disability or mental health issue that her parents needed to be there to help her with, they could've easily split the responsibility. One could go to the wedding, take video / pictures, maybe even facetime it, and the other could be support for the eldest. It's really not that hard.

So yeah maybe it sucks a little bit because their friend told them to park there but they saw the signs guaranteed so common sense would tell you that you should probably double check and make sure that you're actually allowed to park there and that your friend isn't just mistaken or assuming it's okay. Also, I bet every single one of his friends who got their cars towed is mad at him now so I bet he won't ever pull that crap again LOL I wonder how many people went after him to pay for the towing fees since it was his fault because he told them to park there LOL I wish there was some way we could find out.

Last story: Mom of autistic kids here: It doesn’t matter if the sister has some kind of condition. As a parent you need to walk a tightrope of taking care of each kid as they need it, without favoring one over the other. “Sister had a bad day at work/ sister’s dog is sick” is NOT a legitimate excuse to miss milestones even if she does have some kind of condition. “Sister had a mental health issue/sister is in the hospital” is. Your parents are upset because they got called out on their golden child favoritism, with receipts, and now can’t rug sweep it and pretend it’s not that bad. NTA/JustifiedAH.

I've never been in management thank God and all the angels, but I've had managers like that that were good at nothing but talking. Glad he got fired. The first baby after marriage can come at anytime, the second always takes 9 months 🙊🙊😭 I'm deceased. My brother premature. He was like 2 lbs and fit in my dad's hand. Most fully cooked babies aren't 9 lbs. Perpetuating that lie is pure clown behavior 🤡

Last story - OP is NTA and I do not care one lick if the sister has some kind of problem that is long-lasting or not. These people are horrible parents and the really sad thing is THEY KNOW THEY ARE! Mom is 'so embarrassed she cannot leave the hose' and dad says they will 'make it up to' OP. Yeah right, we all know that is all garden fertilizer and my suspicion is Sister knows exactly what she is doing to keep the focus on her no matter what good things are going on in OP's life. I wish him happy marriage and just do not even bother (if you plan on having little ones) inviting them to a shower or to meet their grandkids.

The story with the 9 pound 4 months premature oldest sibling: Yay for Granny! When my youngest cousin's gf got pregnant and they got married (53 years ago and they're still together) my mom was all, "This is going to kill Mama (my grandmother). I asked why was it going to kill Grandma? Surely Grandma was old enough to have known of plenty of 8 pound babies born only 7 months after their parents married. It happens. Well, Mom went on a bit about how Grandma was completely intolerant of that sort of thing, etc. Well, decades later that same cousin checked the courthouse records and found out exactly when Grandma and Grandpa got married while doing genealogy research. Apparently Grandma had said some things to both Cousin and Cousin's Wife (a darling person) that weren't too accepting of the fact Cousin's Wife was pregnant when they got married, so Cousin wanted revenge. He oh so innocently asked Grandma the date she and Grandpa got married "to save me the trouble of going to the courthouse and looking through all those records. For some reason Dad (my uncle, Grandma and Grandpa's oldest child) can't remember." Grandma refused. She kept refusing and refusing until Cousin told her the exact day, month, and year of the marriage and told her she had been a hypocrite to say what she said to Cousin's Wife. Then he left. Grandma and Grandpa were married the very end of January and Uncle was born, a big, healthy, full term baby the first week of August, only 6 months and two weeks after the marriage. Not only that, the marriage took place 4 months before Grandma turned 16. Grandpa was 25 when married, so a 25 year old man got a 15 year old girl pregnant and had to marry her. They never celebrated any of their wedding anniversaries and never told their 4 children the day or date of their wedding. "They just didn't care to spend the money on a big celebration." No one knew until Cousin found it in the courthouse records after his own kids were adults.

4... That video gets to be reposted every year for OP's anniversary.... until A$$HAT parents figure out how to "make up" missing the wedding. Since it's impossible to make up for that and the excuse "sissy's dog got sick and... that's more important" shows 100% golden child sis and parental neglect FOR OP'S WHOLE LIFE. It's obvious this video will get reposted until A$$HAT parents AND sissy are dead.

Story 4: even if the sister has a condition of some sort it’s not an excuse for both of the parents to miss every milestone in their sons life. I grew up with a sister with special needs, she needs supervision 24/7 and can’t attend certain events because is she can’t handle it mentally. My mom or dad always made it to every single thing they needed to be at for me, even after their separation they worked together to be there for us both. Maybe I’m just lucky with my parents, but OPs parents acts like they only have one child that matters!

Last story: NTA. Im sorry but whether ths sister had a condition or not is irrelevant. They had two kids, not one. They chose to care more about his sister than him and that even followed them up into adulthood. Like those comments need to bffr. Missing their son's _wedding_ over the sister being upset about her late dog? Trust me, I understand that losing a pet is hard and if the sister couldn't attend because she wasn't in the best state of mind, cool. Whatever. But there was no reason for the parents to miss as well lmao. They're not even sorry that he's hurt, just embarrassed that their crappy behavior was shared with everyone they know.

S2: It's common in many industries to have a "no gifts" policy for their employees. It creates a conflict of interest (or at least the illusion of one if the employee actually has integrity) where the employee might start acting in the gifter's best interest instead of the employer's because they stand to benefit personally from doing so. If that were the case here and D-headPartner had merely forced OP to return the tickets, it would have been unfortunate but understandable. What he ended up doing was absolute scumbaggery. A pity the gifting client didn't reach out to the company of the people who were ultimately given the tickets. That client likely wouldn't have done anything, but it would have been even more devastating to D-headPartner's reputation in the industry.

03:11 For those saying that the persons ticketed were the victims, because they were TOLD to park there, regardless of the signs saying parking was prohibited. That's GOOD, because it means they will be turning against the idiot who told them to park there, knowing he had no power to permit parking there and was opening them all to the tickets and towing fees they did face. Some will assuredly want to be reimbursed.

S4:I remember the day many years ago when I worked out mum was pregnant when she got married. She was having a conversation about what year her and dad got married etc, then way down the line, she said something about my oldest brother when he was born which happened to be the same year they got married. I said 'MUMMMMM, you pregnant when you got married(I was laughing), and she embarrassed and quietly blushed and said yes. Turns out, one our 'family traditions' was a lot were pregnant when they got married and Im talking about rich fancy pants people that lived ages ago(1800's-1900's) and always one or 2 that copped it lol. It doesnt matter what class of person you are, this happens so many times. I have however, noticed a lot of people who are right up into the 'rules before marriage' are the worst offenders of getting pregnant while not married and that they were actually quite young when THEY had babies, and then they are the ones sprouting all the things you CANT do lol.
