Yes. Rob is a great actor, but some of the stuff he had to do and say was ridiculous. Elrond and Elros likely fought in the War of Wrath. Therefore, he should be an expert swordsman because of that experience. Rob looked awkward in the fight scenes. He did nail the Dwarf stuff. That was the best part of Season 1.😁👍

To be honest, Middle Earth is probably the most fleshed out fictional world. It's loved the world leaders, geniuses, scholars and the cream of the crop. Apart from a few real odd people who spew all sorts of vitriol at the cast and such, mostly I see honest, and well deserved, criticism of a terribly written story which claims to be based on Tolkien’s work. Excited you got this interview (and the one with Charlie). I'd been wanting a Tolkien nerd to interview them, since both of them mention loving to study the lore, but no real nerd conversations have been filmed until now! I'd love to just listen to you talk with them about the deep cuts from the lore in an informal setting someday. I also just want to say, I really respect how fair you are. When there are things you don't like, you don't dismiss the whole project or assume bad faith on part of the people involved, or get nasty. You always err on the side of kindness and fairness and respect, and I want to say how much I appreciate that! I think Tolkien would too. Rings of Power has not been perfect (mostly for me the problems are some major narrative beats missing or repeated too much depending on the episode), but I've loved being in Middle Earth, and I look forward to continuing to go on the journey. Every adaptation has to make choices to communicate character's motivations to audiences, and Tolkien's writings on this time period are contradictory and brief. It's going to be impossible to satisfy everyone. Many people came to the lore through PJ's films, so many people accept his changes more as a matter of course now. But I remember when there were just as many debates about the changes in those movies. And I myself was very unhappy about Faramir! Here's hoping the episodes will just get better and better, and people will be more willing to give it a fair shake! It's definitely not deserving of the level of extreme hatred it's gotten.

Same with the art department, music, practical and VFX. I wish they could become the show runners and stop trying so hard to “surprise” us and just tell the incredible story that’s been handed to them. I love so much about the show, but the writing is just holding it back. For those of us Tolkien fans who are willing to forgive so much and desperate to love the show, please, show runners, just focus on adapting the source with love for Tolkien and stop trying to set up big fan-favorite character reveals. Sauron is a perfect example. Charlie is such a great actor and was allowed to shine this season precisely because they were not trying to hide who he was. @@NerdoftheRings His torture and death scene was the highlight of Season 2. Charles and Charlie were carrying Season 2, in my opinion.

The "kissing scene" question and the answer was the best part of the interview. I laughed along. Thank you for the interview.

YESSSSS!! I can't tell you how happy I was to open KZbin and see this. This has to be one of the best combinations - a Nerd of the Rings interview with Robert 😊

Wow, Matt! Another amazing interview! Also, these actors have been amazing. I love the choices they've made with portraying their characters. They don't always align with what I have envisioned, but I think it has all come off really, really well.
