Also, it seems like the algorithm favors negative "Rings of Power ruins Tolkien Legacy" reviews, so it became obvious how most channels made those for clout and views. I highly doubt these people read Tolkien books before. So I'll always respect Notr for being honest with his viewers.

Yes. Rob is a great actor, but some of the stuff he had to do and say was ridiculous. Elrond and Elros likely fought in the War of Wrath. Therefore, he should be an expert swordsman because of that experience. Rob looked awkward in the fight scenes. He did nail the Dwarf stuff. That was the best part of Season 1.😁👍

To be honest, Middle Earth is probably the most fleshed out fictional world. It's loved the world leaders, geniuses, scholars and the cream of the crop. If you got the chance to work in middle earth and didn't get across that you read Tolkien's work, I'd think you are either not intelligent enough to read the prose, or painfully uncurious. Its a bad look to not know the lore

Excited you got this interview (and the one with Charlie). I'd been wanting a Tolkien nerd to interview them, since both of them mention loving to study the lore, but no real nerd conversations have been filmed until now! I'd love to just listen to you talk with them about the deep cuts from the lore in an informal setting someday. I also just want to say, I really respect how fair you are. When there are things you don't like, you don't dismiss the whole project or assume bad faith on part of the people involved, or get nasty. You always err on the side of kindness and fairness and respect, and I want to say how much I appreciate that! I think Tolkien would too. Rings of Power has not been perfect (mostly for me the problems are some major narrative beats missing or repeated too much depending on the episode), but I've loved being in Middle Earth, and I look forward to continuing to go on the journey. Every adaptation has to make choices to communicate character's motivations to audiences, and Tolkien's writings on this time period are contradictory and brief. It's going to be impossible to satisfy everyone. Many people came to the lore through PJ's films, so many people accept his changes more as a matter of course now. But I remember when there were just as many debates about the changes in those movies. And I myself was very unhappy about Faramir! Here's hoping the episodes will just get better and better, and people will be more willing to give it a fair shake! It's definitely not deserving of the level of extreme hatred it's gotten.

Apart from a few real odd people who spew all sorts of vitriol at the cast and such, mostly I see honest, and well deserved, criticism of a terribly written story which claims to be based on Tolkien’s work. At best it’s “inspired by” and at worst it’s just “stealing names and some events from” Tolkien. That being said the cast are doing a LOT of heavy lifting in their performances so that’s a real credit to them!

How can you say you're a tolkien fan, worship the works he done, etc, but then soon as the bag from amazon comes around, access to actors you turn your back. 8:00 “The show runners always have a way of surprising you.” What a diplomat! He and Charlie (and the whole cast, really) are so great and putting so much heart and hard work into honoring Tolkien. Same with the art department, music, practical and VFX. I wish they could become the show runners and stop trying so hard to “surprise” us and just tell the incredible story that’s been handed to them. I love so much about the show, but the writing is just holding it back. For those of us Tolkien fans who are willing to forgive so much and desperate to love the show, please, show runners, just focus on adapting the source with love for Tolkien and stop trying to set up big fan-favorite character reveals. Sauron is a perfect example. Charlie is such a great actor and was allowed to shine this season precisely because they were not trying to hide who he was. I’ll never give up hope, but it hurts my heart to think how amazing this show would be with competent show runners.

Sure the show has its negatives but it has its positives aswell, Way too many sheople minded people just regurgitating hate about a show they haven’t even watched just so they can follow the herd and feel special. People need to learn to think for themselves more

His relationship with Durin was my favorite part about season 1. Every time the story came back to the two of them, I would sit up straighter in my seat. Was so excited to see them them together again for a short moment this season, though unfortunately it led to a heartbreaking moment where Durin wasn't able to come through for him.

Would he be raised in part by Celebrimbor’s uncles in that “adaption”?
@TallisKeeton
@TallisKeeton Ай бұрын
@@Don9872 IMO its hard decision for Amazon - they would like to show Maglor and Maedros raising Elrond and Elros for ideological reasons and yet it would be too much in tune with the books for their liking :D And they simply forgot about Elros, (like Celeborn) becouse they obviously did not want to show the good times of Numenor under his rule :D
@Don9872
@Don9872 Ай бұрын
@@TallisKeeton It sure would have been nice for at some point in the 16 hours of Rings of Power to get Elrond’s thoughts on what’s going on in Numenor, the kingdom his twin brother founded, but alas he’s too busy having toddler drama with his fellow, over thousand year old, “wise” elves.
