There is absolutely no way to decipher the plot. There's no way to know if it's supposed to be set in the future, or why anyone cares if mercenaries take over a decommissioned oil plant, or why John Cena can't come up with $100k to help orphans when he has no problem coming up with a six-million-dollar jet engine when he needs to fake a sand storm. OMG.

Water is at the source of a LOT more conflicts than oil is. Pretty much since the dawn of times haha It's an incredibly important geostrategic resource

Yeah, I was going to mention this too. Even in the US, water rights can cause conflicts in drier areas. You head over to the desert parts of Africa and the Middle East and oh boy... Look up news articles about Ethiopia damming the NIle. Things are really tense between them, Sudan, and Egypt right now. Iraq and Iran fight over water all the time too. Especially since Iran is using dams to divert water from the Tigris and Euphrates and announced plans to build another 109 dams a few years ago. They're leaving Iraq in a really bad place. I would never say water is more "expensive" than oil, but it can certainly be more precious in the right circumstances.

It didn’t live up to its potential. Also I would like to recommend a series of comedy-mystery movies called Detective Chinatown to everyone and anyone. The movies are mostly in Chinese but there are eng subtitles available. Its just fun to watch. There are 3 movies out in the series but the first one is arguably my fav.

Perhaps the Writers and Actors strikes have Netflix reaching for some fruit that is not so much "low-hanging" as "has been lying on the ground underneath the tree in the hot sun for three weeks". "Extraction 2" suggests that there's still someone over there who knows what solid action looks like, but, man...

I actually watched the movie a couple of days ago. I thought it was about Chinese contractors fighting American mercenaries trying to hijack a cargo transport all during a sandstorm throughout the entire film and thought to myself "wow a movie where the good guys are Chinese and the bad guys are Americans seems like a unique take on an action film" but boy was i wrong

Depending on the region I dont actually doubt that water may be more expensive than oil. A town i the desert in somewhere out in the sticks might have loads oil in the area that some company can export out of the desert, but getting water into the desert has historically been quite expensive and difficult.

Spoiler Alert: The gigantic Chinese Oil Company are "sort of" the good guys even tho they're exploiting the shit out of the land. Meanwhile Euron Greyjoy is a stupid Thief Lord that kills John Cenas brother without any good reason, starting a unpersonal vendetta. Why unpersonal? Well Johns character didnt seem to like his brothers in the first place and not a single tear was shed.

They do explain why hes there. Him, his brother and dad wore there doing mercenary work when his dad died the village he is protecting saved him and nursed him back to health. So he ended up staying. In till jackie chan recuits him into the Chinese army at the end 😂😂😂
