at 78 my main concern is falling. I walk 5-10 miles a day and have no problem with balance on surfaces. But I find stairs to be uncomfortable - I always look for rail or wall to touch reference. I do the one foot stands for at least 1 minute daily, and foot strengthening exercises. Suggestions to be more nimble on stairs?

My problem with balance walking has many components, but one thing you’re not taking into account- and maybe I’m one of very few people with this situation- is neuropathy. The soles of my feet are super sensitive and hurt unless my feet are well padded with thick socks and custom made shoes. Is there anything more I can do?

Neuropathy is mainly caused by diabetes. I lowered my A1C from 7.9 to 5.2 with a low carb diet. I gave up bread, pasta and rice as well as sugar and most fruits. It took about three months, but I no longer have neuropathy in my feet.
