Anybody on here that says the four-cylinder is not going to last is speaking out of ignorance. This particular engine is so overbuilt and has so many conservative features in cooling management system. No other manufacturer has done anything like this. Just like back in the late 80s when someone said that the VA wouldn’t last 100,000 miles, guess what that V8 is still going today ha ha ha ha. Toyota has always engineered their stuff and the critics have always criticized until they have mud on their face stop talking out of ignorance and start researching.

Wrong, Toyota didn’t want to do this. Forced to because of emissions and MPG. Turbos are not as reliable… oil runs hotter, engine much more complex, harder to work on. This is the consensus in the engineering community. You are speaking out of ignorance.

@@user-jm5dw3gm8y actually if you would look up and check Toyota engineers employed a separate cooling circuit for the turbo itself also increase oil capacity in the crank case helps with oil temperatures along with a larger oil coolier. . I’m extremely disappointed with the Gen 6! Maybe I just had too high of expectations. After all the hype and waiting, I was expecting more, like: front locker! Beefier drive line components on the trail hunter, more suspension travel on trail hunter not just more wheel offset🤷‍♂️. The ability to run 35”tire without chopping the shit out of the body. Seriously Ford and Chevy even offer upgraded components on their off-road models. I feel the like the new Gen 6 barely meets today’s off-road standards and in no shape or form raises the bar. After all the hype, no more capable than the gen5.😢

I'm sure the new 4Runner is and will be great. However, like all Toyotas (except the new Prius), there is a lot of unnecessary design detail inside and out. Toyota designers just never seem to know when to put the pen down. Also, it's odd that the 4Runner is so close in size to the Land Cruiser. If the LC is to be a premium version, it doesn't really look it with it's Lego-ish front-end. Well, it doesn't matter what the designers do, Toyotas always sell well just because. But they could be cleaner, more simply designed along the way.

It’s much stronger than the 5 speed unit. You can’t judge by the size of the case. The original 4Runner used 4 cylinders, both naturally aspirated and turbo.

317 foot pounds of torque at 1700 RPM is a welcome addition. I can’t wait. I have no hesitation. These four cylinders are drastically over engineered and they are like nothing on the market just research it. You’ll see the 2.4 L that used in the truck application is extremely over built and has cooling management, like no other manufacturer is doing. Stop talking out of ignorance.
