Electric vehicles should give 300 miles out of every single charge standard. That is a deal. Anything below that is not worth the money in my opinion.

Why? If you charge at home, for 99% of drivers it's a non-issue. Are you driving 300 miles a day? If so, you are in the minority.

@@waxy1962because anything less makes it a local commuter since charging away from home is so inconvenient and expensive
@dennisknehans32063 ай бұрын
Why would you think you need 300 miles? The average American by far drives less than 40 miles a day. In probably 90% of people plug into their outlet in their garage and get a full charge while we sleep
@nosoupforyou4253 ай бұрын
@dennisknehans3206 avg american uses their autos for things beyond daily commute. Not surprisingly, It is also the same vehicle taken for vacations, out of state funerals, to move cross country, family medical emergencies, etc.. Stop looking at one day on the calendar and assigning the same weather to the entire month. Should not be that hard to expand this basic thought

My Rav 4 hybrid can go up to 600 miles on a single tank, saving me a lot of money. I also appreciate the fact that I can refuel in less than 10 minutes instead of waiting for a battery to charge. It makes me think that the car industry should have prioritized hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicles over fully electric ones, considering how new the technology still is.
@waxy19623 ай бұрын
You don't save money by having a bigger tank. You are referring to MPG. When your ICE vehicle approaches 100 mpg we can talk. Otherwise you're just kidding yourself, like a person who buys a car based on monthly payments.

Seems to be the complete opposite of everything else I read and hear. Sales are declining because people don't want them until they meet the general publics needs. As of now they aren't even close. They are ok for some but not everyone. Don't force them on people who don't want or can't use them My ICE car goes over 400 miles in a tank and takes maybe 5 mins to fill and there are gas stations everywhere. When evs can do that then preach.

If you have home charging and the vast majority of your driving is local (as it is for most drivers), you'd never have to stand at a gas pump again. I have two EVs and happily trade an extra 20 minutes at charging stations twice a year on vacation trips for having to go to gas stations at least twice a week the other 50 weeks of the year.

EVs are more costly to own than combustion engines and probably always will be. The are prone to burning while charging and insurance won't insure if you own one and have an attached garage. People do not want EVs which is why Stellantis isn't opening the Belvidere plant in Illinois to build unwanted and unsaleable EVs and the plant to build the batteries.
