​@@FrostyBalls01 I did! I was on the team for Pit 11 and later 15. It was a lovely time. Matt was very nice and I learned a fair bit from him. (Spoilers for next part, don't read beyond if you've not seen it!} They don't make a lot of mention of our finds (time, and the floor was obviously the premier item) but aside from lots of clay pigeon there was also some masonry and quite a lot of pottery going from the 18/19th century back to some high medieval stuff. Also found an early medicine bottle and a fair few pig bones and shells. The arrival of the singers took us quite by surprise. We heard them practicing nearby, but thought they were going to be doing something at the church or the town hall.

I have family ties to Ortonville, and I need to make it over there to do some genealogy work and investigations. I also need to get over to Wisconsin, where my maternal side is from. I watched this during the premier with my toddler. Every time Stewart came on screen he would stand, happy shriek and point. I've watched the last few episodes with him and he always gets excited when Stewart's on. Not sure why Stewart is my little boy's favorite but he definitely is.

I had a workplace accident over 10 years ago. I was stuck in bed or a chair for 18 months, Time Team got me through those days, I started with episode 1 and watched each one in order. Whether it's the editing or the product of the extra days the newer members of the team have spent working together is something I don't know but this episode felt more relaxed than earlier digs presented by the 'new' Time Team. Incidentally there was a cut just where John had mentioned the cess pit. Helen's reaction looked priceless from the angle we saw it from. Something for an 'outtakes reel' maybe?

15:25 all i can think about is that initial print out from the athelney site all those years ago, and how much pride and joy it provided in addition to information. John personally responded to a curiousity question i had sent to the survey company he provides, and it too just made me beam with happiness. Time Team was my introduction to geophysics, and now between it and stewarts mapping i will never look at the world the same again. SO many times this program has saved me from drowning in a deep pit of depression and anxiety and adhd. i cant thank you folks, and your patreons enough. This is about so so much more than just archaeology, which itself would have been a big gift all alone. Love you guys, many happy returns. Josh

This is beyond fantastic! Time team back again! I am happy to have helped a tiny bit to make this happen. The information is all so exciting! We are living in the future with all this new tech too! I makes the Classic episodes look like "OMG look at the old laptop" or "Mick in front of a huge CRT" I love all of it. It's not just the hundreds or thousands of years back. It also is made during a major change in the very tech we have begun to use daily in the decade almost 2 this show was made, and now continues to be made! Helicopters to drones, but old methods like drawing instead of CGI are still valuable, so is measuring by hand instead of by laser. There is no harm at all in using all those tools. It is so brilliant this show is.

I've become quite a fan of time team, living as I do in eastern north Carolina. My parents born in Pitt and Beaufort Counties, towns and cities all around named, Raleigh, Plymouth, Bath, etc. Of course the Germanic people are represented with places like New Bern. I grew up with breakfast, dinner and supper. I don’t know how the evening meal became "dinner ". Sounds like a bit of nonsense to me😂 Carry on just as you have been and I'll keep watching! It is so cool that he was able to go back and see where his ancestors lived and even where they married, etc. That must have been mind blowing for him. I too, have many English ancestors, but in my case, they are very well known historical figures that most people know of already from History. I was born in Montana, but now live in Minnesota, where my mother was from. I wrote a long old post talking about some of my ancestors above somewhere, but I am sure it will come across as pretentious or something. I really hope not though, as I tried so hard not to sound all hoity toity or like I am bragging. I am just genuinely curious about all those ancestors, since as American citizens, we aren't taught as much about all that as they are in England and the UK. What I would like to do to is meet some of my cousins over there, that probably have no clue I exist. That and join in a TT dig! I am getting up there ( 58 ) and am now somewhat disabled, but perhaps there is a way and it will eventually happen. I am completely humbled by my ancestry, to be totally honest. Glad Mr Stetson was able to travel there and participate. That was so great to see! Have a great day.

@@jagolago-bob Oh gosh. I can give you a few names that you will likely recognise. So, if I go back to my 22nd great grandfather, he was: Hugh le Despenser, Baron le Despenser, who was executed for...well, all kinds of things. He was not a well liked person and if one reads about him, it's not that hard to see why, I suppose. Gruesome execution though. His wife, my 22nd great grandmother was Eleanor de Clare, 6th Lady of Glamorgan, Baroness le Despenser and Baroness Zouche. Those are her titles. Let's see, my 27th great grandfather was: Henry II, or Henry Curtmantle, King of England and Duke of Normandy. My 27th great grandmother was: Eleanor of Aquitaine, Queen Consort of England and France and Duchess of Normandy. She is a pretty well known historical figure, so most probably have an idea of who she was. I have checked and re-checked and had my DNA compared, and it is all verified. I am more humbled by my DNA and ancestry than anything else,, but those are a few names of my ancestors that you may recognise. There are many other very well known people in my family tree, and my family ties in with the current Royal Family around 19 generations back. We would have had the same 19th or 20th great grandparents. Now, I am just a regular American citizen but I am getting old, and am somewhat disabled now, so this discovery blew my mind when I found it, as you can probably imagine. I just did a live interview a few days ago with Ancestry over Zoom. It was a lot of fun, and they told me that my tree is correct, and those are definitely my ancestors. I had no idea until last year that I was a Plantagenet Dynasty descendant. I just wish I had the same access to funds that those people probably had...lol! I am certainly not wealthy by any means. Regarding the small pistol or musket ball; Cavalry would have had two pistols each, which they would use to break up infantry formations before riding into them and using their swords, so pistol balls could mark the site of hand to hand fighting. Much less common but by no means rare was the use of officer's own "fowling pieces" - good quality long guns of a smaller calibre than military muskets, intended for shooting wildfowl and capable of surprising accuracy, they were sometimes used to "snipe" individuals beyond normal musket range.

My maternal grandmother's family are the Boons of Modbury, so I am really excited by this dig. One of them married a Stitsdon, which I assume is just an alternative spelling of Stitson, at Modbury.

I grew up just down the road from Modbury in Dawlish. I remember you coming to do the ship wreck in Teignmouth and coming along to watch. In one of the scenes you can actually see me watching you all, something I will always cherish! I now live in Austria and am so grateful you are doing these on KZbin so I can enjoy it all over here! I love it. It has always been my dream to be an archaeologist. I wish I had done what I wanted to do instead of listening to my parents, who just didn't understand. I am now 58 and disabled, but can still get around if need be. I am also a professional genealogist and have traced my family all the way back to the 5th century AD in some cases. The only reason that has been possible, is because my great grandparents were very well known historical figures, who were also very well known in England, since that is where we are from originally. I don't know if I should list a few of my great grandparents here, but I think I will nonetheless. I have checked, rechecked and had my DNA compared to other descendants and it is true. Two of my great grandmothers were of the de Clare family and were among the three very well known de Clare sisters consisting of Margaret, Eleanor and Elizabeth. My 22nd great grandmother was Margaret de Clare, Countess of Gloucester and Countess of Cornwall. She was first married to Piers Gaveston, believe it or not. We all know what happened to him. Margaret then married Hugh de Audley, 1st Earl of Gloucester and 1st Baron Audley. Most of my great grandparents going back from the de Clares, were royalty and are well known figures. I am not saying all this to be pretentious or anything else. That is not me at all. I am genuinely curious, because as an American citizen, I want to find out all I possibly can, in regards to my family tree and ancestry. I am aware that I am descended from the Plantagenet Dynasty, and would like to learn more about them all. I will give another example going further back. Margaret de Clare's mother, my 23rd great grandmother, was Joan of Acre or Princess Joan I probably ought to say. Her father was my 24th great grandfather naturally. He was Edward I or Edward Longshanks, King of England. His wife, my 24th great grandmother, was Eleanor of Castile. I have to say, it is very strange to find that one is a descendant of these people. I had a hard time believing it myself, at first. However, it has been verified via DNA and more. My ultimate dream has always been to travel to England, and visit the tombs and graves of my 'illustrious' ancestors? I would like to also join in one of the TT digs! But again, I am a disabled man now, and I don't know if it will ever happen. I certainly do not have the funds that my ancestors did! Let me be clear, I am very humbled by my ancestry, and I do not believe I am 'special' or anything else. It is merely my DNA and ancestry. I will list my 26th great grandparents as well, since they are likely well known in the UK, or at least England. My 26th GG were The Incomparable Sir Knight - William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke and Lord Marshal of England. That is his title...lol! My 26th great grandmother, his wife, was Isabel de Clare, 4th Countess of Pembroke and Striguil. Another de Clare obviously. I am genuinely curious in finding more regarding these ancestors, but my ultimate old, disabled man dream, is to dig. I want to dig in some of places that my ancestors lived. I don't think there would be a paucity of spots to dig, though they are probably all scheduled, since many were castles that are no longer standing, or Medieval manor houses and the like. I so wish I lived in England, let me tell you! The only reason I have typed all of this here, and admitted to my ancestry, is because I dream of being on Time Team almost every night. It would be such an honour and extremely humbling if it ever became reality. I have so much respect for everyone on TT. It is so good to see TT back in action. Great to see faces such a Helen Geake, Carenza Lewis, John Gator, Stewart Ainsworth ( and I have Ainsworth's in my ancestry too! ), Matt Williams, Dani, and everyone else! Time team is one of best programs I have ever seen in my life. I have always been a fan and will always remain one. I wish we had a similar program here in the states. I hope I make it over there before I die. I would do about anything to make that happen. I really apologise for the length of this post, btw, but wanted to get that out. It was therapeutic. Also btw, I should probably also point out that I use a nom de plume here on YT. The above ancestry is all on the Fraser and Corbet side of my real surname.

Stetson worked in his Father's hat shop in Orange NJ and designed the Cowboy hat there. His sales were weak till he added them to a mail order catalog. There the Texas sales boomed and he opened a factory i n Philadelphia to meet demands. Back then our connection was were basically all british within a generation or 2

Great to be able to follow another dig and we actually stayed in Modbury on holiday a couple of years back, so really exciting to see the village being explored. As always so well put together making it very easy and enjoyable to follow
