I've seen some reviews about a light border on the right and bottom when using dark mode. Have you noticed it?
@RaffyHalim7 күн бұрын
I went looking after your comment since I didn't really use dark mode in the past. On the right hand part of the screen (ie. the side away from the sticker/USB-C port area) I noticed a bit more light bleed than the other side. Now that I've seen it, it's there. The other sides are much less noticeable. The bottom theres a bit more light bleed than the top but I'm really being nit picky there

I like to take notes while I'm reading a novel. All the reviews show how to take notes, but I can't find any reviews showing how to look at the notes when I'm done with the book.
@RaffyHalim24 күн бұрын
At the moment the AU kindles JUST take notes in the book itself (like making notes on a book itself). If in notebook, then you open the notebook normally. I think in the future update, with AI, and page margin writing, things maybe different

@@RaffyHalim - Do I have to remember where I took the note (in the book) if I want to go back and look at it?

@karmell24 no, there is a view that show you all your highlights and notes in a book and has a link to the page

Amazon hasnt updated the generation brother, it is technically same as old. However, software support , and some writing refining might have changed.
@RaffyHalimАй бұрын
Yeah I didn't realize the base hardware is the same! The people in the comments like yourself have pointed it out. The software does feel a bit faster but I'm assuming the. Even the older one will feel snappy
@davemeadows6688Ай бұрын
I'm tempted but seeing the software updates are coming to the 2022 Scribe I'm holding off. Also, not sure I like the white border or not?
@RaffyHalimАй бұрын
Yeah fair point- according to a few people in the comments, hardware mostly same, so might get the speed bump after the update. I was in 2 minds about the white border. I notice it less now but it is 'different'

@@RaffyHalim I've since ordered one to try out. Don't like returning stuff to Amazon but it's impossible to speak to anyone so am going to try it out and possibly return it.

@@davemeadows6688 I'm not a frequent returner either, but I did return the 2022 since I couldn't justify buying the new one to review otherwise. Also, wanted a bit of colour in my devices: most things so buy are grey/black

Nice review. Can you take notes on a PDF file which pages are images not text?
@RaffyHalimАй бұрын
Just saw your message, converted a JPG to PDF and tried. Yup can mark up on PDF. Doesn't make a canvas box like ebooks, but I kinda prefer drawing directly on the page

How is this compared to the ipad pro with Apple Pencil for reading textbooks and note taking for university students?
@RaffyHalimАй бұрын
@@Matete88 I don't have the iPad pro to compare, but even against regular iPad, very different use cases. iPad pro would essentially have a lot more flexibility. You'd get the kindle more for reading/battery life/low weight as features.
@BetancourtdmАй бұрын
It really depends on where you get your textbooks. My school requires Redshelf which you can't put on a kindle so makes PC and tablets the only option for me. I'd prefer to use a device like then Scribe though if able. If your school uses PDF or EPUB might be a good option for you.
@DigiDriftZoneАй бұрын
I agree it definitely feels more responsive, however, manually downloading and updating the firmware of the 2022 Scribe makes it as fast and responsive! - Whatever Amazon did, it's great.

@2008Sanai oh that's not good! I've seen some articles on the TCL nxtpaper device- that one might be more suited to you? Works more like a traditional tablet but can switch to e-ink, so might be closer to traditional screen?

It’s the exact same hardware device as the 2022 version. All they’ve done is just updated the software. You are just reporting your placebo effect. I returned my one because exporting notes and annotations on pdf comes out pixelated, unusable graphics. It’s a nice kindle e-reader though.
@RaffyHalimАй бұрын
@@anthonycraig274 i didn't realise the base processor is the same- someone else in the comment pointed out that flashing the old kindle with new firmware also increases speed. I don't have the old one anymore to compare side by side, so it probably is me imagining the old one was slower 😞 I mainly export the notebooks which came out fine but haven't don't on annotated pdf. Its the exact same software and internal hardware, its not faster its exactly the same device compared to the older scribe, only upgrade being different material on the screen and pen upgrade, white boarder and colorway.

As you say, sadly, the AI Features (Handwriting improving & Summarization) are not available in Canada, Australia, and the U.K., i.e. outside the U.S.A. Very discouraging and a slap in the face for someone like me who has touted the Kindle Scribe from day one. In my opinion, no one should support this company unless/until this outrageous omission is corrected.

My understanding is that it is coming on a later update, not that it's not coming at all, but I could be wrong on that front

@@RaffyHalim I would like that to be so, but amazon gives no indication of that when describiing the new Scribe on the Canadian site. If that is indeed to be the case, I would think it behooves them to say so - rather than irritate and disappoint and lose the loyalty of many users world wide.😊
