Is it the same nano texture as in iPads? I saw it in real life on iPads and didn't quite like it, because when you look at the screen close up it's really blurry like there is some liquid on the display. But here, on the video, I cannot see anything like that. Where could I find close up picture of the text on this display?

I just got the 14" with nano and it is so much better than the glossy one I am upgrading from. I see no negative effects at all. It seems way better than the previous ones that were on the studio displays.

Save the money and get a matte screen protector instead. You get the same effect plus actual protection

With BetterDisplay you can use 1600 nits HDR peak brightness with SDR as well just like Macbooks before

Hang on a sec. I have a (M2 Pro 16 inch 32GB 1TB). I did a side by side with the M4 Pro with the same specs as mine. It was faster but not by much imo. Not enough to convince me to upgrade right now. The only thing that would make me upgrade is that nano texture, but I can live without it as well.

Hi new subscriber! 💕 thanks for this first review! I was wondering what the specs were on this m4 pro chip? I am looking at a 14 inch m4 pro with 14/20 GPU, 48 ram and 2 tb for long form video editing on YT etc :) I’m wondering if this is what you’d recommend for editing. I was looking at the M4 max as well with 14/32, 36 gb ram because I wasn’t sure if more memory bandwidth and GPU would help with editing over a little more ram… I recently bought and returned an M3 Max because unfortunately it was overheating already on the 14 in. @@katamogzI am so glad I read your reply to Justine because I was stuck between getting m4 pro or max I want to use it for some video editing gaming and typing stuff emails notes etc you can use apple intelligence correcting stuff or replacing with friendly verb etc which I never seen on a apple product I need to save a lot for one hopefully by Christmas or birthday at least I can get one I plan to go the same specs as yours 14 inch because I can’t lift heavy things 48gb ram wish I could go 64gb but that’s probably only for m4 max and 2tb storage which I think is more than enough for me and ofc the nano texture display for sure incase I travel first time in future as I am disabled but these MacBook Pros are such eye catcher I love it haha I am subscribing keep up the content ❤

Looks like the M5 is supposedly going to be a bigger jump. I’ll probably wait another year, hmm… Otherwise, I’d love to upgrade from the M4 to the M5 right away. That real-life example of the Nano-texture was impressive! Do colors look dimmer on the Nano or is the general brightness about the same? Yeah… the M4 Pro is a killer!

You have to up the brightness a bit to get the same view as a Mac without nano texture. But that shouldn’t be a problem since Apple upped the brightness this time. So I’m sure it will be bright enough to your liking.

I would go see them in person. The difference is quite noticeable. Personally was not a fan. It still looks great. It’s just the blacks aren’t as good. If you’re using your laptop primarily at home or in controlled lighting, it’s not worth it in my opinion. Very happy I went to the store to make the decision.

Little tip: in macOS Sequoia if you have yourself an external hard drive you can download Final Cut or other apps that are over 1GB of space onto an external hard drive and or SSD

Another one praising the very specialized nano texture. For 90% it will feel like a downgrade due to low contrast ad dim colors. And in bright sunlight it’s very unsharp due to the diffusion of light
