Newcastle - Hiking The Mourne Way pt3

From the Drinns down into Newcastle, Sundance and I search for a terminus to the Mourne Way. Unable to find one we settle on the Castle Bridge as our end point. After a quick pint at Quinn’s we hop on a bus for Belfast and on up to Bushmills to continue our adventure.

Huck check out 5stack on the AT he’s a geologist hiking the trail this year. During many of his vlogs he discusses some of the geological features along the AT. I personally find his videos interesting and informative. You may also, happy trails.

Thinking they recycled rocks and stones. Believe that might have been a chunk of brick and mortar. Chimney? Old brick road? So glad you are back. We've missed you!

Sounded like a Bronx cheer from the goose. The path going through the towns would be kind of nice. Offers more variety and adventure. Comments from you and fellow hikers on previous hikes about just going out and do it. The mental aspect of actually deciding to start being such a huge hurdle for people. That made me think of a couple of sayings. 90% inspiration, 10% perspiration. And maybe more appropiate.... Where there's a will, there's a WAY. Hahaha... Get after it Huck and Sundance. Jerry R

Hi Huck! The pink flowers are foxglove! They're all over on the edges of woods in Europe...along with stinging nettle, my nemesis. I remember when I was in Germany you had to pick your roadside pitstop carefully lest you get stinging nettle in places you don't want stinging nettle lol :)

It’s a joy watching your enthusiasm for things that I take for granted; foxgloves (bees love those), peat bogs and mosses. And those tree ferns I know as bracken. Those stinging nettles have one good quality, if you get some fresh ones and boil them up you can get a lovely nettle tea 😊 Happy Hiking, Hunk and Sundance.

The nettles may make for a lovely tea, but oh.. not a fan of them, especially when they're right along the walk path!

Thoroughly enjoying watching your journey, through places that are so familiar to me, but loving your excitement and curiousity...it is infectious. I think that piece of rock you picked up was old building rubble, and was a mixture of red brick, which most of the houses here are built out of...sandwiched onto a piece of concrete or something like that. I might be wrong, but that would be my guess. But, if you love geology you will love the North Coast, with the Basalt and Limestone...you might even find some fossils. Well done on completing the Mourne Way, and I am excited to follow you both on the next stage 🙏
