If you think the timeline doesn't make sense, that's because it hasn't been fixed yet. Cap returns the Soul stone before Black Widow sacrificed herself, which lead him to battle the Red Skull though time and space. A bit like the Cap/Skull Cosmic Cube saga, which may have lead to Caps ageing somewhat. He may have fought Arnim Zola in the 70's when he returns the Space Stone, causing the evil scientist's demise and slowing down Hydra's take over of SHIELD. The other Stones are replaced without changing the time lines too much. However the death of the past Thanos and his army in 2019 causes time ripples where he doesn't collect the stone in the first place. Thus alerting a future antagonist Kang the Conqueror to the Age of Heroes, kicking of the next phase of MCU. Nuff said.

the whole point is he couldn't make any changes. If he made any changes he would have created a branch universe by knowing the effects of the future, spinning it off from the main timeline, which wouldn't have actually stopped anything happening because it still would have happened in another timeline. The only way to minimise the branching would have been to cause as few changes as possible. If it's already been written he couldn't change it. My theory is that Captain Americas across all time lines time travel back to the time of the Peggy Carter dance and lives in the shadows while not changing anything that will affect continuity of that time line (ie. stopping hydra and saving Bucky). And after a few punches and battle scenes between the three of them loki was thrown away like he did to capt marvel (assuming that he only fainted after the punch from thanos) and it leave capt america and thanos dueling each other similar battle scene as of the endgame scene where capt shield was shredded by thanos and he gets back up and says, “I can do this all day” and then came in the rest of the ‘avengers assemble’ squad. THAT WOULD BE DAMN EPIC !!!!

Not sure if anyone paid attention to what Thanos said but he didn't fully destroyed the stones. He simply just reduced them to atoms. Meaning they're still around but no one will never find them. I mean Antman might find them at some point. That's something I would love to see cause it would create a lot of guilt towards the Avengers. This can be the perfect opportunity to turn Hulk into Maestro. Think about it. Bruce sees that if they would've been thinking they could've got the stones in an easier way and Natasha would've never died. The guilt of losing Natasha, Tony, and Cap would be too much for him too handle. They were his only true family and now because of not paying attention. They're gone. This is something I would truly love to see.
