All of this exists just as much in the music industry. People really think "oh I've just gotta do a bunch of free work until people respect me enough to give me $100 a spot" and if you ask to be paid cause you have a day job that fucking kills you so your free time means something, people are like "wow do you even care about the art bro, you should be playing cause you want to". People will never treat artists as professionals until they start viewing it and working at it like a job
@antonioreconquistador2 жыл бұрын
People are less likely to pretend that they "respect" people when it comes to things like money. If nick being more honest when it comes to humor makes him a possible problematic guest to have in a shithole like DC or wherever, on a show with some senator, i could see why adam's connection would be smarmy about it. Most of the people with the money to host or distribute entertainment don't know or care about the entertainment as much as the money, and it's a part of why they have the money. It's like the financier owner of the Red Sox, a baseball team, selling their best player, Babe Ruth, for extra cash to prevent the team from losing money anally. To him, it isnt a good gamble to have Babe on the payroll when it doesnt guaranteeably make him money. To the team, to Babe, and to everyone else, it looks like a cheap dick move. But if he werent a cheap dick, he wouldnt be in the business.

"notoriously unreliable" is exactly what idubzz said about Sam Hyde and it's the same intention behind it. it's just one person being mad about some political shit and making up some more legitimate sounding excuse as to why they won't associate with them.
@adamyooz2 жыл бұрын
Not at all, it’s about wanting to avoid a media circus. Nick is funny and honestly I don’t think he’s notorious enough for it to be a problem but from the perspective of an event organizer I can understand wanting to avoid hungry media outlets looking to tear people apart because they’re working with a problematic person. That goes fucking quadruple for Sam Hyde.
@CheddarDrip2 жыл бұрын
@@adamyooz media circus??? Is it really worth it to not book a popular act just to avoid some angry tweets? Nonsense, they just value that specific crowd over having a more successful event, and that’s pathetic. Like who gives a shit if some people will be mad that nick mullen showed up? I guarantee that somebody in charge is just an angry, self-absorbed ideologue and it doesn’t go any deeper than that.
@adamyooz2 жыл бұрын
@@CheddarDrip A bad article is a big pain in the ass and can reflect poorly on the event organizers. Whenever there's money involved "media consciousness" is considered. Getting sponsors for events is harder if you have those kind of dumb media circuses surrounding your event. The organizer might also just not want to be associated with anything that'll put a negative spotlight on them or their work. Or they could be a brain dead ideologue. Pretty sure they accepted they’ll forever be shunned by big companies a long time ago, and talking shit about them makes for great comedy, and every other podcast is afraid to do that, so it sets them apart. They’re good unless Patreon decides they don’t like them
@eshanroveran78503 жыл бұрын
I mean to be fair if you’re just upfront and not an annoying bitch about whether or not you want to hire a Risqué performance nobody would care For example: if they just said “Yea Nick is funny but his comedy is a bit too harsh and I don’t exactly trust him on stage where my neck is on the line sorry” it would be polite and business like, perfectly understandable It’s seriously pathetic because literally what happened was this person was too “woke” to even dare mention the fact that ANOTHER person says some pretty politically incorrect things. Why say Nick is Unreliable? If you think he’s racist say it’s because of that. That’s the main thing that bugs me about it It’s perfectly reasonable and fine to disagree and even dislike Nick for how he presents himself. But to be so cowardly as to not even address the real reason you wouldn’t want it hire him is pretty hilarious And that’s why it’s funny for them to riff on it because it’s genuinely so ridiculous. They obviously don’t need the money and do it because they enjoy it so it doesn’t matter if they get hired or not but it doesn’t change the fact that the dudes wording was ridiculous and rude I mean he had the audacity to essentially talk shit about a podcast to one of the people on the podcast without even realizing it. He deserves to be made fun of

@@eshanroveran7850 Your individual points are probably correct in some regard. But you're missing the big point. No one is perfect. If you have a career or high level business dealings and the guys with the megaphone decide anything from that your dealings are poor to X to Y to Z to even just that you're a dick...well, now you've got a problem on your hands. It's a little like Norm's Mangrate scenario. Hilarious but do you really want to advertise with him if that can happen? Or even do business really? Love Cumtown. Love Norm. Love Patrice. But the risk/reward factor for what the boys are asking for is out of line.
@johntallanger40363 жыл бұрын
@@eshanroveran7850 Think of it right now: You know absolutely nothing factual about the situation. Nothing. You purely have the accounts of the people telling the story who are engaged parties. In that process they named names of individuals and business affairs. And now you have a negative opinion of those people without researching it further or even questioning if it's a one sided account. They need to get their shit together on this front. For one, it's not fair to the individuals who don't have a chance to respond. Also, it's bordering on legal issues. At a bare minimum they should keep an eye on it because people such as yourself do not have the discernment to know the line between casual loose dialogue in context of a comedy show and a serious allegation. Love these guys. Seriously. They're borderline heros for what they did in these recent culture wars. These are just lessons people learn as they grow. It's not a death sentence. But it is something to be understood the next time they are curious as to why they're not getting certain work. Also, I realize the comedy of writing this anonymously on the internet.
