Man I certainly remember those big ole bell systems in my old school when I was a kid 1984-1989. Nice big advanced changes from 1980s til now.

My old middle school had march time bells with seperate strobes, with 4", 6", and 10" bells. (Simplex system.) It was amazing. Now the system's LED EST stuff.

Funny because I just had a fire drill at my High School today. That system is a Notifier NFS2-3030 as well. Unfortunately, found a dead strobe today in the Library/Media Center while we were checking strobes.

Interesting series, troubleshooting is so much fun isnt it? lol . A thin guy standing on strut and pipe, not too sketchy. A 300lb but still agile electrician like me doing that.. a bit more sketchy! Have fun, cant wait to see how it plays out.
@nics-systems-electric5 ай бұрын
Obviously it isn't ideal therefore most don't however I don't mind the troubleshooting. I find that's when you learn the most stuff is when things don't go exactly right. There is more you learn in those cases. Unless it's a Friday then that's different lol.

What’s the point of all panels having a drill button when you can just go a few feet to a pull station. Not like the drill button prevents the alarm company being notified.
@nics-systems-electric5 ай бұрын
Often times when the building is required to do an evacuation practice that doesn't need to be counted as a functional system test the drill button can be used. It is simpler for non-technicians or electricians to use as it does not require resetting of the pull station it also does not activate relays so it in fact would not dispatch anyone. You don't get too custom order your panel based on proximity to a manual station. Many systems don't have one right beside the panel some don't have any at all. The product they sell must be able to be used on any install.

One thing i dont get is that why the perfectly good qs4 got replaced. I mean, isnt the qs4 already adressable?? Or was it the coventional version? But if it was the adressable version, then why the f*** did it get replaced???? Would it just be cheaper to get some adressable est pull stations and smokeys/heats??? Just a waste of money and a perfectly good panel in my oppinion :(
@nics-systems-electric5 ай бұрын
That's why I suggested you to watch the first video as I explained that it's obsolete and you can't get parts for it as well as it's already not a reliable system and they are next on the list for preventative upgrades

How come you guys don't just reuse the existing bells and/or strobes? I mean I get these are overkill being that this school used to be for the hearing impaired, but you've also replaced the bells with horn strobes in other schools as well.
@nics-systems-electric5 ай бұрын
Because the strobes aren't listed compatible devices therefore it's illegal every device needs to be listed for use with its power supply. And you need to have access to the data sheet for each device for doing current calculations which is difficult if you have old random devices.
