I had Eton Mess when I was in Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls.) and it is as delicious as Nigella says. Another way to get the Strawberries to create their juice is by taking a bowl of fresh strawberries and giving a good helping of Icing sugar - leave in the fridge for an hour and you have the strawberries in their own juice. You can mix passionfruit seeds as well and it is just as good. My mother calls it 'Poor man's Romanov' (I don't know why - don't ask.)

A ''brazen blush'' actually! She is likening it to a pale face with rosey red cheeks. Think Aunt Sally from Worzel Gummidge!

@tylerhughes54205 жыл бұрын
For real she only added 3 teaspoons of sugar to those berries and merengies are not terribly sweet... I think this would be too tart and too bland from all that plain cream
@andrewmarchbankd3215 жыл бұрын
Most definitely! I always add a little bit more sugar and some good vanilla extract to the cream.

I never liked Nigella's habit during her shows of getting up from the dining table and heading into the kitchen to fix another course. It's disrespectful to one's guests to leave them alone. One should have the meal (including dessert) ready to be served when the meal begins.
