Dear Nigella, my late husband taught me a trick if I get something TOO SALTY. Cut a slice of raw potato and add it to any savory dish. The potato will absorb the salt. Depending on just how salty the dish is, it may take more than one slice. Try it with boiling water. Add salt, then add the potato slice, and taste. It really works! Love all your videos. Loved your old kitchen in the 2017 Christmas Kitchen the best. It looked so homey. Then loved the next kitchen after that secondly. Thank you for all you do for us home cooks.

I love these old videos when Nigella was happy with John. They make me happy. I have just lost my husband. We never know what is ahead. Probably just as well. Bless her. To this day she is doing marvellously. But it can’t be the same. Life is tough. Watching great cooking is soothing.

I am so sorry to hear about your late husband 💔😢 But, like you, I too lost my husband in July this year! We may not know one another, but we both have something to share! If you would like this, I am there for you! Who knows.....! Strangers now.....! 4rnds later?! Geraldine Maher 😷🤜🤛 Dublin Ireland.

geraldine maher Dear Geraldine am really sad for you. Your loss even a bit closer than mine. Every so often I hear a noise and still expect him to come in the door. I was looking at a photo album that he did from a trip 20 years ago and his comments were just like hearing him talk. I know I have a couple of voice messages on my phone but can’t bare to listen yet. My great grandfather came over to NewZealand from Dublin c1870. I have a real soft spot for Ireland and the lovely accent. My grandmother used to sing lots of Irish songs to me. Not long before my mother died she told me my birth father was from Ireland. We have closer links than you could have known. 💔🌹

@@geraldinemaher4133 Dear Geraldine, l loved your message. Thank you so much. I am in New Zealand but my great grandfather came from Dublin. I am 3/4 Irish.🥰 I have not been not well enough yet to email personally. At the moment I have had a really sore throat for 5 days. Until my husband died I had not had a cold even for nearly 40 years. That’s how long we’ve lived in the country. I know anyone can read this so need to be careful. The first month I had night horrors so tried watching tv nights and had night horrors during the day. I have never told anyone but I have never been able to cry. Same with my dad but then I couldn’t eat. That was when I was 24. I cried buckets for my mum and yet she had never really loved me. I have reached a point nearly 4 months and I feel calmer and trying to focus on my garden. I wish we could link up somehow. I am in New Zealand but while mentally agile my walking is not good. Leave it to you sweet Geraldine if you would like to correspond 🌈🌹🥰

-@You can't leave this empty Hello from New Zealand. You are still so young and you never know what is just around the corner. Life can be tough. The longer you love someone the greater the pain when you loose them. Not all marriages are happy. There would be many people who wish they were you I am sure. You have a freedom that goes with marriage. You sound so nice I am sure you will get what you wish for. In the meantime a cat or a dog can be wonderful company.

Oh thank you for these Nigella-posts. I am so grateful. I still can't believe I missed her about 10 years ago now, when she was here signing her newest cook book. I can't believe that. But I like the way she IS, I enjoy her sense of self and mostly her sense of style. Although I am much too old to run w/ her crowd, these shows give me a sense of fun. And that's something new a days. Love to you and Nigella.

This comment made me curious so I’m watching her show from 2020.. y’all are on crack, she’s still exactly the same and just as enjoyable to watch, just.. two decades older lol. She looks incredible, the recipes are interesting and look delicious, and she still bites down on her food with that same reckless abandon that was always so satisfactory to watch. I also think it’s kind of gauche to try and link any perceived changes to her private life, people just grow and evolve on their own sometimes

Use royal icing to secure inside so you don’t see the icing and pipe on colored candles with flames and holly on the inside surface as though they’re on the windowsill. I use battery tealights inside to put the house on the dinner table to make the windows glow. Walmart and others sell them online 20 sheets $4.99. I grew up in a really big Italian family. Taste testing with a spoon then using it in the pot wasn’t that big of deal. Although at table, it was fine if you used your fork to grab meat or something if you were just taking that item for yourself. And you weren’t touching any of the other pieces. But everyone has their own opinion on this.
