Omg... I ended up here because I was watching random older Nightwish videos, and I never would have thought that after so many years, after being aware that both sides have moved on and are doing great, after all of their concerts I've been to, after knowing that Tarja and Marco have actually sang together and things are "okey", I didn't expect this to still make me SO DAMN emotional... Damn... This was the Nightwish I fell in love with. I enjoy both Nightwish with Floor and Tarja as a solo artist, but THIS was the band which for some reason spoke to me like no other band could. THIS was - this IS - my favourite band.

Really sad moment... Especially if you think about how all of them except Tarja knew it was going to end. In a conflict everyone involved is equally guilty, yes, and therefore I can't help but think the open letter from the band, as well as the open reply from tarja, is super lame and childish. The letter says "we are beyond the point of talking" but no man unless someone is using physical violence you're never beyond the point of talking. Fine if parting ways is necessary but at least talk about it. Writing an open letter is very cowardly.

the day Magic Died. people remain, tarja progresses in her solo work, tuomas still writes the great music, added more orchestrations, BUT MAGIC DIED, it must sound silly, but everyone of you who agrees, you just feel it as i feel it, this could only be described as MAGIC... they were GODS together, celestial power, whatever you can call it, this why it still hurts, and it will never stop, how could thing of such greatness, fall, due to simple human arrogance, and inability to forgive or reach compromise, i won't rest , unless they reunite, which will be by far, my happiest day in life!

Jukka's reaction at the end says it all. He knows that Tarja was the best singer that band has ever had, and ever will have. Annette is wonderful, and has a set of pipes like no one else on the planet. But Tarja is what made Nightwish the band they are. They did themselves a huge disservice when they fired her.

If Tuomas could not be happy because of personal feelings for Tarja, and also she had some professional disagreements with the band (or, her husband/manager had them), then it is maybe best for both of them to part ways. Not saying anything about the way they did it - maybe it was the only way they could do it, whatever - but parting ways was the right decision in those circumstances. I mean, they did disservice to us, who were used to Tarja's voice, and the old songs and Annette could not deliver them that well live. Maybe they did a disservice to their sales and the brand temporarily, and blabla. But not to themselves. That's my point. And now with Floor, the live performances are epic again. She is not Tarja, and I don't mind it, they are both epic in their own way.

People try to make Tuomas out to be a drama queen that Fired Tarja for a stupid little reason to make a drama. Truth is, he and Tarja were very close and a team ( some say he was actually in love with her), but Tarja changed after marrying and her husband had a strong influence on her that hurt the band emotionally. So not just Tuomas, but all the guys agreed it was time. Tarja was talking about quitting anyway, the guys beat her too it... I know your comment is 1 yr old but here goes nothing lol. There was misunderstanding on both sides. We don't really know what happened, the letter that Tuomas wrote could have been heavily biased on his bitterness towards Tarja choosing another man that wasn't him. They went to high school together so I can't imagine his pain if he actually loved Tarja... just think about it, Tuomas didn't marry until a few years ago. Based on what I have seen, Tarja shouldn't have been rude and shouldn't have threaten to leave the band and Tuomas shouldn't have acted jealous and write such a letter based on his anger. Tuomas will do whatever benefits him without considering the band's feelings, just read about him he got his high school friend (first Nightwish bassist) fired because he thought he was a threat to - his - band. Both are in the wrong, but we don't really know what happened so no fan can really assume and judge. This is just my thought, so I don't want to judge Tuomas or Tarja. I like the band still and all singers are unique to me.

I think Tuomas and Tarja looked at the band differently as years went on. Tuomas has a lot of passion for the band. This passion is essential for Nightwish's success. It was the end all for him. It was either successful or it was bust. Tarja may have had that enthusiasm in the beginning, but I think as time went on, especially as it became apparent that she could be successful on her own, her attitude shifted. Nightwish wasn't the end all for her, but another step in her career. (Is this because of the influence of her husband, a manager? I'll let you be the judge, but the answer is "yes.") Neither one was right or wrong. If you have a grocery store, you expect the manager to be passionate and serious, but you don't expect that same thing from the cashier. We expect the cashier would have ambitions to go else where and grow as a person. Well, those attitudes tend to clash. The cashier's lack of enthusiasm can make it difficult for a manager who is trying to be a stand out store. The cashier will do things like refusing to come on their day off and so forth. It was a "I want to quit" "You can't quit, you're fired." In the end it all turned out okay. Floor is a phenomenal front woman. Nightwish is still going strong. Tarja's solo work is a real treat. And we got some really good songs with it in the form of "Bye Bye Beautiful" and "Master Passion Greed" on Nightwish's side and "Enough" and "Diva" on Tarja's side. Everyone is happy now, and everyone wins.

Exactly! Many people consider Tuomas the villain of the story, but people should know it was NOT easy for Tuomas to let Tarja go on his end, and he was greatly depressed after he kicked her out, which was reflected in their next album Dark Passion Play. I still like Nightwish's later work; i just don't like it as much as the Tarja era.
