NIKE ZOOM FLY 6 vs it's closest competition

I have currently or tried the speeds, superblast, rebel, Boston, sl2, 1080, etc... etc... I've done two runs in the Zoom Fly 6 and can say it's the most fun in my rotation. I'd pick it today as most versatile and fun over most, if not all, including the Superblast 2.

@4x4koto36 just because it's newer to me, I'm more excited about the Zoom Fly 6, but if I were recommending one, I would probably say Superblast simply because it's a proven, durable shoe that can do everything just as well. Tough choice for me.

Great video Chris. Currently loving my speed 4s approaching 300 miles with no noticeable change in feel. However I did order the Valkyrie Speedworks on sale and can’t wait for them to come in and try them out.

Used the Speed 4 for a lot of my marathon training block, speedwork, long runs and easy runs. Absolutely love them. A lot softer ride than the Boston 12 and I loved those!

2 * 10k runs in the bag for the Zoom Fly 6 and really enjoying it so far, let’s forget the 5 ever existed eh 😂 out of my other shoes (Speed 3, SB2, B12) it’s definitely up there and I’d say feels fairly similar to my Deviate Nitro 2. Keep it up Fordy 👍🏻👊🏻

Correction, OG super trainer was/is the Tempo Next%. Saucony just expanded it to a wider audience. Really wish they had NOT put a CF plate into the ZF V6 and used a nylon plate. People shouldn't be running that often in rigid plated shoes, and Nike isn't slotting this shoe in as a racer....so why the CF plate? Seems there might be some difference of opinion on the rigidity of that plate....I've now heard multiple people say it's not that rigid and other saying that it is....probably personal preference kicking in I guess. Which makes it hard for people to decide without seeing it in hand. Thanks for the comparison video!

@@FordyRuns LOL, that's kinda fair. But in my defense, I've never run in a VF or anything in that lineage. And I think the ZF V1 did not have ANY ZoomX or top end foam available at the time. Unlike the Tempo Next% and the air pods and ZoomX mid/forefoot. A true Super Trainer and not the early idea of one. /shrug

My understanding is that originally ZoomFly was the trainer for Vaporfly and Turbo Next% was for Alphafly due to pods. Turbo Next% was higher stack as well.

I would pick NB SC trainer V3 because I am a wide footed runner and the width is perfect for me I ran a PR in my last marathon with a 5 minute PR over my last time running this marathon I didn’t have v3 I had NB SC v2 on and I could really feel the carbon plate helping me towards the finish line especially last 3 miles and I could imagine the V3 will just be even better I tried NB SC elite v3 and I was loving the lightweight of the shoes, but I wasn’t feeling the carbon plate as much I don’t know if that’s because I’m a heavier runner not massively overweight but just about 10 pounds over what I should be for most general weight recommendations for my height

I don't typically engage in brand hate. I'm now training in a Superblast 2, an Adidas SL2, a Puma Velocity Nitro 2, a cheap Brazilian racing flat by Fila from the dinosaurs era, which perfectly suit my speed training (they weigh 170g). I also have a Vaporfly 2 for 5 and 10K races and an Alphafly 3 for longer races (and even a Pegasus! Yeah, I know, I know, I'm no "serious" runner). I think all these shoes are great for their use cases, and there has to be a hundred shoes I'd like to try and own at this point, for there have never been so many good running shoes on this planet as there are now. That said, I still feel that there's nothing like ZoomX when Nike eventually manages to get their shoes right. I'm not saying other foams are bad, but even considering the fact that ZoomX is typically expensive and not too durable, I think this foam just can't be beaten in terms of how it manages to achieve the perfect balance between softness and bounce at this point.

I did my marathon training long runs in the Speed 4, great shoe but the stickers peeled off after about 20 miles. Didn’t effect using them but it is pretty poor.

Boston 12 for me is the worst shoe I've ever used. To firm, no energy return. It's just awful. Bought an actual race shoe instead and it's what I was sort of expecting out of the B12.

How would you compare the Hyperion Max 2 VS the Saucony Triumph 21 ? i'm desperately looking for a shoe to replace my triumph 21 mostly for my long runs with HM/M pace in it ... something not too heavy , a little bit bouncy ( doesn't have to be extremely responsive ) , comfy, soft but not too mushy ... the invicible 3 is too heavy and the superblast too expensive . thanx for your feedback

How about just another Triumphs 20/21? If not from a store, try 2nd hand platforms - there are often shoes sold with extremely low distance in them, like ran 1-2x and then put away by the owner, and then, time later, he or she sells the model online. I got an unused, never run T21 for 107€ inkl shipping from another country (private, so lots of shipping) and a T20 Runshield which was just tried on at home and walked around at home a bit for under 100€ inkl. shipping. Be patient and watch those 2nd hand markets daily. Over time everythihg you wish for turns up :)

@@philipppuchner1115 thanx for your message , i do look on the 2nd hand market , but nothing intersting shows up , when there is a pair , it is rarely new , and when the seller says it's been used 2 or 3 times it often means 50 to 100k ... and the price is not that interesting 130/140€ . the other reason is that i can have a better price on new shoes thanx to my job , i can order straight from Saucony , but they don't have the triumph 21 anymore ....

yea for me the boston 12 rules all of these. it just easier to go faster, longer and daily with it. if the hyperion max2 had a better outsole i would choose that. but thats a demerit imo and the speed 4 i returned because its too soft and not as wild as the beloved speed 2

Zoomfly just looks very cheap, i'm sure in the flesh its not though, but if it is anything like some of the running clothing they have put out past few years then cheap is cheap! Brooks Hyperion max 2 is a stella shoe, but imho the boston 12 is very very simlar in its firmness to the brooks.

You can't claim the original Zoomfly to be a super trainer when it had full lengh React foam. The super trainer category wasn't born until Peba was used in non race shoes. Also does a shoe not need an illegal stack height to be classed as a Super trainer? Nobody was calling the original Endo Speed a super trainer at the time

@FordyRuns super trainer imo = illegal stack height, PEBA based foam and a ridiculous RRP 🤣 Arguably the most popular 'Super trainer' is the Superblast that doesn't have a plate. Endorphin Speed / Deviate Nitro / Magic Speed / Boston et al all fast dailies / tempo or race day options for those not wanting to fork out for Super Trainers or Racing shoes I would say!
