She was underrated, overlooked and underappreciated. No one, not even myself, will ever know the greatness that this woman embodied. All around musician, artist and woman.

+David Richardson That's just the way it goes when you're not facially attractive according to society, if it involves something with being in the limelight and you don't fit a certain standard of beauty, it doesn't matter how talented you are

to me she is one of the greatest,,,,also the music she made was meant for jazz clubs,small venues,,,,many of those clubs are gone,,,,, only music aficionados understand her style?

I loved her with every fiber of my being from the first time I heard her. I was in High School, and it was a Concert on PBS, that became her album “Nuff Said”. Saw her, and Cherished her throughout her career. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oprOd2B6d7iCqJo

That "What happened Miss Simone?" biopic on netflix made me bawl. She was such a genius. It's tragic she wasn't celebrated and cared for the way she deserved.

Nina's daughter always felt like her mother was somewhat cold to her, so strange to assume that she seems a socialite. In the end the daughter realized her mother's love was shown different due to her mother's hard life

Lens Perspective yea you could tell Nina and her daughter wasn't that close by the way she talks about her mom and her face when they ask about their relationship

Nina was also bipolar, so the daughter has some memories of abuse that stem from Nina's illness
@nightmare_eyes4304 жыл бұрын
I mean, her daughter mentioned that she was both verbally and physically abusive towards her, and while nothing can justify that, we should remember that she had a difficult life and was abused by her husband as well.

Indeed very sad. Her Netflix documentary was so heartbreaking. Her struggle with Bipolar Disorder, which had been undiagnosed for years, is what probably what led to her behaving that way with Lisa.

Nina was international. She spent quite a few years in Liberia when she was raising her daughter before eventually living the rest of her life in France until her death. That might have something to do with her unusual speaking voice.
