I made a brisket for Easter-my first time in my Foodie XL Grill following your video for cooking and OMG my family loved it. I used my own seasoning and put it in the fridge for almost 8 hrs, then removed the brisket,let it sit out for about a hr before cooking. The house smelled so good. I added 20 minutes to your cook time. After it was done, I left it wrapped in the towel even after the resting period, while we drove the 25-30 minutes to our daughter's house. It was so tender, easy to cut and juicy. There was only a few slices left. Thank you so much for your videos and sharing your expertise with us.

Wow! Your honesty made realise you are one of the best bloggers on KZbin. I watched part 1, mouth agog thinking ‘does he see what we see?’ And you did. I wish more people like you were honest & share we all can get things wrong sometime. I know it is a couple of years old, this vlog, hope you don’t mind my comments. My parents have bought a Ninja Foodi Grill & they are somewhat hesitant to use it. Found out Dad has purchased a Brisket & he doesn’t want to spoil it - he was after some advice on how to cook it on the grill. One search on KZbin & up you came, part 1 - part 2 followed. I can now advise & coach him on best way to prep & cook. Will fine tune the recipe up for two slightly older English man & Scottish woman which suits there pallets. Thank you so much for posting this, you have helped me out immensely today. Best wishes fella & all subscribers and viewers.

Thanks CJ for an awesome video! I just recently bought my Ninja Foodi XL Grill and needed a good beef brisket recipe. The only change I made was boxed Lipton Beefy Onion Soup mix instead of the canned beef broth. (I don't like cans) Thanks again! Will be watching for other great recipes.

Great video and thanks for this. I love to cook and I love bbq and I have a smoker and outside grill that I love but don't use much anymore. Not because it's not great but because the ninja foodi has just blown me away so much with how convenient it is but still makes great food!!!! I've smoked many a brisket and I love that but it's always nice to have an easier and quicker "ninja" way for all of these things!! And honestly my guests usually can't tell the difference and just assume I smoked it if I don't say anything

Hey great job on part 1 and part 2. Having the part 1 helps out the “real people” that shows how we learn. Thanks for posting both. I do have a question, I love my pellet grill and was wondering why we couldn’t slow grill on the Ninja Foodi? I was thinking 200dF for 3-4hrs... anyone try a slow brisket with the foodi? Btw, my pellet grill is in storage moving during Covid-19, just purchased the Ninja Foodi from Costco a few weeks ago. Stay safe and enjoy cooking all!

I’m with ya on the slow cooking. But most people who buy these are looking for fast cooks and connivence. I say give the slow cook a try and see how it goes. Thanks for watching!

I made my own rub. Smokey paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, cayenne pepper and a small amount of sugar. The amounts are up to you but my ingredient order also follows the quantity I used, give or take. At the last minute I added sugar to the rub to maybe create some sticky bark kinda thing. Also considering using some liquid smoke in the broth injection. I’ll report the results.

I thumbs upped this vid about 10 seconds in. Nice work CJ. This is one I'll def be trying. Two questions, after this video, is there anything you would have changed and/or adjusted for this cook? Also, do you have a link for NFG accessories? Thanks!
@CookingWithCJ
@CookingWithCJ 4 жыл бұрын
Sean G thanks much! Honestly I’m not sure I’d change anything. It maybe could have cooked another 30 min or so in the braise. But for the most part it’s what I wanted. And there isn’t really a link for specific Foodi Grill accessories. It’s mostly just extra accessories for the Foodi PC when you search for it.

Hi CJ...Ninja Pro comes Saturday. It has the temp probe. I am thinking to cook to 170 and then wrap and cook to 225 to finish. Are those temps correct? How about a sear afterwards to get a crust? Thoughts?
@CookingWithCJ
@CookingWithCJ 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah those are the right temps. The cook before you wrap sets the crust. But, wouldn’t hurt to try it. Just keep an eye on it.

@@CookingWithCJ Hey CJ - I made brisket at roast 315 for 2 hours. Seasoned the same except didn't inject the beef broth. Poked holes with fork and poured the broth before applying spg and hot cover. It didn't come up tender, but it was also a smaller piece than yours. I did wrap in foil at 50 minute mark. Any suggestions on what to adjust?

Tried it yesterday. Tasted great but a little dry I thought. If I wanted the final post wrap temp to be 170 at what temp should I cook to before wrapping in foil
@CookingWithCJ
@CookingWithCJ 4 жыл бұрын
Not really sure. I usually wrap around 170. You can experiment with 140 or so.
@KarlKevilus
@KarlKevilus 4 жыл бұрын
Cooking to 170 is supposed to form the outer crust on a brisket. It’s very tough meat so you have cook it low and slow, pouring broth and wrapping in foil is giving it a steam bath for the next hour. This recipe needs further refining, or we just have to stick the outdoor grill and actual mesquite for now..
