Ninja Waste "BSEL Mod" E6xxx and E8xxx-series Intel Core2 - 386

Testing 6 different Intel Core 2 CPU's and the "BSEL Mod" with tape.
The E6300, E6550, E6600, E6700 and E8400, E8500
None of them was any good! :-( This was very close to 3 hours of a total waste of my time. Only hope you can use this to not waste yours.

I managed swapping my sons 3.0 dual core out to a modified x5450 xenon quad 3.0 and brought it back to life for better gaming ...I got 2 more x5450's and picked up a q6600 n tried the tape but motherboards I tried in 2 Dell's was the g33mo2 mobo and won't support quads but got a friend supposed to bring me a mobo n hoping its a 775 socket n maybe an Asus or gigabyte to have better luck with but till then I'm keeping my eyes open for a different Dell but may just try the tape idea on those dual cores and c if they clock a lil higher even just to sell em cheap to someone looking for a pc to play around on ...thanks 4 the ideas!!

G33m02 does not support quad core CPU, you need the g33m03 for that. You could bsel 1066 dual core on them but most of the higher clocked e7500 etc will require more voltage too to be stable. The lga771 mod and a xeon x5270 would be a good choice for those g33m02 boards, 80w 6mb cache 3.5Ghz at stock fsb and voltage would allow for some software over clocking using setfsb or similar.

Hi thanks for your videos :D They're great. I did it with my Q6400 and raise the GHz from 2.4 to 3.0 and the bus from 1133 to 1333 and it works perfect. But i've one question: I did the same by my brothers CPU (Q8400) but at the first time if started the PC the Motherboard told me that i've installed a new CPU. The normal Basefrequenz is now 2.0GHz from 1.6GHz but i can't go over 2.0GHz anymore. Do you have any idea what i can do to get the 3.26GHz? Maybe an Biosupdate? You are thorough, lots of work! Rename channel to, "My Corner"...seriously. Is it too much to ask if you considered the low voltage processor(s), Xeon L5320 ( socket 771)? Bus frequency is 266 MHz. but, because the processor uses Quad Data Rate bus, the effective bus speed is 1066 MHz. Often, the Earlier BIOS updates for the ( HP, Dell, Lenovo) business boxes are the most robust and can, "do" more. How will the, "BSEL Mod" with tape procedure, change out with the socket 771 pinout? Too all E8xxx/Q9xxx users. Yes, you can do the mod, if your motherboard supports 400 mhz FSB (1600 rated). The tape method works only if your motherboard supports 1333MHz FSB and you are using a 1066MHz FSB CPU. For 1333MHz CPUs you need 1600MHz capable boards respectively.

The E6550, E8400, E8500 all already run at the maximum FSB supported by most chipsets of the core 2 architecture (1333 = 333x4), so it's pointless to mod them. To jump the E6300, E6600, E6700 and the Q6600 (from 1066 to 1333) you only need to float BSEL2 which is covering that pin next to the notch. The other piece of tape does nothing to the overclock and is covering a power pin which could result in less power delivered to the CPU if it senses every pin. Still not sure why you experienced some underclocking but I will come back to it if I bump into something. We can read the Core 2 CPU and Chipset datasheet on Thursday if you have time haha. Cheers.

Morten, you can try getting a Dell Optiplex 745. I have an Optiplex 745 running with a Xeon X3220! If you can get the better one like an Optiplex 755 or 760, you can run better xeons in it nice for a workstation and/or server. Great video as always! :)

For boards limited to dual cores there is a 1333 3.5ghz Xeon x5270, a 1600 bsel mod on one of these would almost definitely need a volt vid mod too for stability.

it only works up to 1333mhz fsb (1600mhz on aftermarket boards) which is why the e8xxx series doesn't really work. It does work with almost all of the Conroe and Kentsfield CPUs though (e6XXX and q6XXX) except the extreme edition cpus. The main thing that would prevent any conroe or kentsfield cpu from booting after a bsel mod would be voltage. If you're doing this on an oem motherboard with no voltage control, then you may just want to stick to the e4XXX and e6XXX cpus and go no further than 1333mhz bsel mod. It DOES work with almost any 775 CPU, but the voltage limitation and heat will always be the main cause of problems.

Tried this (and many more bsel mods configurations) on a E4700. System just wont boot with the mods. I think the motherboard will not allow it I only have 3gb Ram in there could that play in any way?

You just need to do a slightly different mod because different bus speed chips have different pin layouts.

It seems to that all these Core Duo's are all the same chip, only that intel deactivated some frequenze, which you compensate with the tape. So you make them all the same.

+My PlayHouse (Morten Hjorth) Hmm after investigating, it appears the reason the mod doesn't work (whether shorting pads or taping pads) is because the mod fools the mobo into running the FSB at 1333 instead of 800 or 1066. Well my setup (and maybe yours with the e8400 installed) already run at 1333. There really is no place to go from there. I do have some pentium d's I will try it on and then keep the e8400 and sell the system with the moded pentium d (if it works). After I verify stability and thermals are good of course.

well poop apparently my mobo doesn't allow unverified changes of the fsb. whenever i tape any processor it just turns on and turns right back off and cycles forever. Once the tape it removed it boots fine. i tried it on 3 processors, all the same thing. i don't have any conductive pen to try the pad shorting method, nor would I even attempt it, lol! Great videos nonetheless.

Funny story. I thought I shut the elite series box down but actually I had just switched my kvm to a channel no pc was connected to so the monitor went to sleep and I thought it was shit off. I didnt notice the power LED on and I went about swapping the processor with it powered up. As soon as I lift the retention arm the pc started beeping like it was pissed at me and I immediately pulled the plug. Miraculously it is still running fine. Scared the crap out of me, lol! Damn kvm is great usually...

Hi Molotel Cokctov If you mean the ninja trick on the Xeon 5400 series, then I have done videos on both doing that and overclocking them. If you mean a intel dual core e5400,, it's not worth it,, the best CPU I have found is the Q6600 and it available for 6-12$ : amzn.to/2eZTnfb and that will work and have four cores. Nope. The Q9550 already had a 1333FSB, this trick only works on 1066FSB CPUs because you raise the FSB to 1333. Not all motherboards will do this however. Earlier 775 boards default to 1066FSB or even 800 for the P4 only boards.

Dude if the processor has his processor does not have a constant speed it means the motherboard is to weak. VRM overheats. The test is very intensive on the processor so it should run at full speed. This is why the q6700 was the weakest in the early tests. This is what happens on my AMD 8350 when I OC to 4100 it is weaker. When I oc to 4500 it is better but it is unstable. My motherboard is very cheap ASROCK Pro3 R2.0

The ninja trick,, is to trick the system board to think that the CPU with a FSB of 1066MhZ is really a 1333MHz,, so it will provide a higher frequency to the CPU, than what it is ment for. But if the CPU like the E8300 is really a 1333MHz,, there is nothing to trick.

that's right ...check Intel's official documentation they call it TIM...and you can't.put all that on and in that.pattern! for a 775 cpu it should have a.pea sized fowr in the center and that's it, no need to put it around the cooler will spread it evenly and when you do put it around you risk it squeezing down and around the cpu on the pins in the socket! I'm a gpu it doesn't matter because there's no socket so as long as it's non-conductive you can put as much as you want but cpu must be careful....the only cpu that's diff is 2011's because they're so damn big you put a small line in the center about .75cm or so long

This is not an O.C. at all, maybe a hack to make the pc unstable. The only way to O.C. is in BIOS using multiplier or FSB, tho overclocking thru FSB will likelly overclock everything on the motherboard and will run hotter. So if you have a locked CPU stick with it stock. In case you wanna O.C. make sure you have a good aftermarket cooler.

its impossible to unlock the multiplier on these cpu as its an internal locking, only old pentium had this option possible so the only remains method is the fsb but not always a stable method it depend of the motherboard and some skills about changing voltage on cpu carefully with 0.1 step

This ^ The mod you were doing is intended to set a certain FSB different (higher) then the default FSB in some cases the specific tape you put on was on the wrong pins for the intended effect. Some pins you need to nullify or some you need to actually short together to increase the FSB. as explained per the link from Chad.
