The thing is about the leaked "stories". They are the equivalent of someone's personal fanfictions that were never made to be public. A lot of them are centered around a lot of folklore and mythology that's pretty prevelant in a lot of things todaty. And then add in the fact that there was a lot of overly-mistranslations by AI and people are suddenly thinking that all these stories are canon. I think Lockstin explained it best as well as saying that Gamefreak always seems to start off with ideas that really aren't kid friendly. And then they work backwards from there until they are left with something that is more suitable for a kid's game. While there have already been facts/lore in the past that blurred the lines on human relationships with Pokemon...I think WAAAAAY to many people are taking what is basically poorly AI translated non-canon fanfics as 110% factually real canon lore.

I don't know why the leaks are so shocking, Pokemon has always been screwed up from the beginning. Like in gen one where a kid get's turned into a Kadabra against his will, Driflblim stealing kids, Froslass freezing people for no reason other than it feels like it, the entire concept of ghost pokemon, and more recently, Palisand literally eating the bones of other pokemon. Honestly, the Typhlosion story is rather tame in comparison, the only difference is that it goes into more detail. Oh and we do know, again because of gen 1, that people probably did it with pokemon all the time back in the day. Context on the Typhlosion story: It's not as terrible as it was leaked. The story that spread like wildfire was machine-translated with contextual Kanji errors in it. The story was supposed to be a folklore version of Beauty and the Beast but with a lady (mistranslated as a girl, which could mislead someone to think it's a little girl) and the Typhlosion.

The Typhosion is a reskin of a well known yokai tale where a guy married a fox yokai, a Kitsune, who he thought was human. They had kids and such until the fox was found out. Depending on the version of the story the fox is either killed or runs off. My only question is why the writer chose Typholsion instead of the literal Kitsune Pokemon they have.

The typhlosion story is probably the original Library story in gen 4 where at the west most point of the map there is a library, in the English it says pokemon were similar and lived alongside humans. But in the original Japanese it states that we were once so alike we would live together and get married. I can only feel a bit like a detective by knowing the og translations and seeing this story get leaked makes it all make more sense.

Generally, patent lawsuits are what you go for when you don't actually have a case but you do have a good warchest. it doesn't really matter what the patents are or how their idea has to be stretched, or even if they were submarine patents where the offending material was added afterwards. Such lawsuits are extremely expensive to defend against, far more expensive than to bring, an SLAPP (even in regions that have it) does not apply.

Don't know why people were so shocked by the new "lore" that got leaked. Pokemon Sun had a woman in a relationship with a Machamp. And in the Japanese version of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond there was a bit of in-game lore that said humans used to marry Pokemon...obviously that was removed when the game was translated to English. Forgot to mention: Nintendo actually has a section ON THEIR OWN SUPPORT WEBSITE telling people to go to pawn shops or online auction sites if they want to buy old Nintendo games.

The Typhlosion story isn't as shocking if you're familiar with the game theory pokemon theories where the line between pokemon and human is actually pretty thin, and there's good evidence that Nurse Joy's and Officer Jenny's are pokemon. If they were looking to definitively confirm that theory, the story might make more sense. Basically, these stories were Japanese Mythology, like Actman speculated, and where they got the inspirations for Pokemon. That Typhlosion story HAS to be referencing the creation of the Centaur race in Greek Mythology, there's no other way lmao For context, in Greek Mythos there is a story about this dude, Ixion, who was either a human king or a son of Ares depending on who you asked. Ixion murdered his father-in-law, Deioneus, so he wouldn't need to pay his bride price to marry Deioneus' daughter, Dia. Ixion tricked Deioneus by inviting him to a feast, only to push him into a pit of hot coals, which killed him. (This also made Ixion the first person to ever commit the act of kin-slaying) Ixion lived as an outlaw as the neighboring princes refused to cleanse him of his guilt, however Zeus took pity on him and brought him to Olympus as a guest. This is where the story gets.... "interesting". So Ixion, while on Mt. Olympus, falls in love with Hera and tries to seduce her, therefore disobeying the laws of hospitality (of which Zeus enforces with an iron fist and multiple lightning bolts). Zeus creates a copy of Hera out of a cloud, named Nephele, and uses her to test Ixion's integrity. Ixion proceeds to assault Nephele, and the resulting kid was Centaurus, who fathered the Centaurs by the mares of Mt. Pelion. Later on, Ixion was given his own special punishment by Zeus for failing the Integrity test (and also defying the laws of hospitality) by being tied to a wheel of pure fire that rolled forever through the air, or alternatively, through the Underworld.
