Because the VQ series V6 in most Nissan models are absolute legends and as dependable as anything Honda or Toyota has ever made. It's the fragile CVT transmission in the Altima, Rogue and a handful of other models that is killing their rep. The Frontier, Pathfinder, Armada, Murano, and all the Infiniti models use standard automatics that are super solid. They have already began phasing out the CVT and Honda will likely be credited by those not in the know for helping Nissan make a quick turnaround.

So what prevents Honda's downward slope in quality and reliability of the recent past from continuing? There is a lot of assuming going on about this situation. Assume one way or the other; or just sit tight and see what develops.

According to info available to me the three OEMs will not create the holding company which they will operate under until August, 2026, at the earliest. The question I have is if Nissan only has enough cash to operate for another 12 months how will it survive until August, 2026? Also, since Honda's quality and reliability has substantially slipped in the past few years will Nissan & Mitsubishi pull its quality down further? There's no future in that.

Im not sure this really benefits HONDA. I personally don't like the idea of a merger, and than maintaining different 3 brands. if they could merge, and all consolidate under the Honda/Acura brand. I think it would have better outcome. I always thought the old GM, FORD, CHRYSLER ways were just dumb. Back before 2008 financial crisis they all had to many brands competing with themselves. Hopefully Honda doesn't take that strategy. I DO LIKE the idea of a Honda designed TITAN and FRONTIER, to compete with body on frame trucks. Also kill the current Pathfinder, and roll out a body on frame Honda PATHFINDER, to go head to head with the 4RUNNER. At the end of the day, what are we (Honda and Nissan) trying to resolve ?? And does this synergy get us there ?? Just my thoughts
