Loved her and still do and her great films esp "Guys and Dolls"! Found it interesting that she was the first one considered for "Roman Holiday" before Audrey Hepburn got the role, another great iconic actress and humanitarian! So many of the great actresses/actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood, one of my favorite eras, have passed on to the Other Side..miss them all! There will never be another great era like that for sure! Thanks for sharing~

So funny, discussing the Oscar's with my husband and mentioned hearing Guillermo Del Toro say part of his inspiration for "The Shape of Water" was "The Creature From the Black Lagoon" only I said "Blue" and remembered seeing the original Blue Lagoon movie with the lovely Jean Simmons. And, here I am watching this interview. She was blessed with beauty, brains, and kindness. Unfortunately she suffered from alcoholism, and was very open on this topic. She was one of those special women to grace the silver screen, like Audrey Hepburn. Those eyes...

She couldn't have been an alcoholic for very long because you don't see her having that ravaged look that they usually get especially if they are a woman . Maybe it was the problem she had with Howard Hughes that drove her to drink ... ... you can hear about in the video from the AGE OF of VINTAGE channel that just came out

That scene between Brando and Simmons at 5:25 was good. Simmons was the lead, and Brando was reacting to her, and they both played it well. Simmons played it right up to the edge without going overboard. This film, Candy, Teahouse of the August Moon and The Freshman show, under the right circumstances, that Brando could do comedy.

As far as I know, there are no biographies written about Jean Simmons. Strange. She was one of the better "stars" of the 50s and 60s, and was featured in many well-made and popular films of the period. A classy lady, and was often the highlight of the movies she was in. R.I.P.
