I can only speak for myself but this is basically what happened to me. I wanted a wife and children and had ambition and was productive. Once I started questioning wether a wife and children was even an option my ambition evaporated and my productivity took a nosedive. For the same reason, I have no problem with calling marriage a patriarchal institution. At least in the past, marriage increased the average man's chances of meeting a woman, having sax, and starting a family. I had wanted a wife and kids pretty much since I was little until around mid-30s, though I suspect my paradigm shift started to occur around my late 20s as I being "red-pilled" by experience and my "thick skin" towards rejection finally started to manifest (took long enough). By the time I hit 35 or so, I began to really question things and that's what got me to The Red Pill / MGTOW proper. Now that I've been out of the dating loop since around 33 or so, I would find it very difficult to want to start a family in my early 40s, especially as certain personality traits have already set in and I'm pretty set in my ways. In theory yes, but it gets way harder as you get older. Why? Because it's much more difficult to make new friends as you get older, and you'll inevitably distance yourself from the friends you had as a young man, because you'll no longer share the same interests (going out, picking up chicks, working out etc.). If those friends get married and have children, that's a wrap, it'll be like you're living on different planets. Others will move etc. So, you'll end up alone, maybe with 1-2 friends you've known since high school, maybe some family members that live near you.. Still not a catastrophic deal, but "active social network"? Nope. Especially if you're self-employed and don't have colleagues, you'll definitely be a loner. Ask me how I know.

It's why, even as a kid learning about the sexual revolution, I was like, "That's not going to end well in the long run." If sex is cheap and easy, then by definition less achievement will be stimulated in men. And worse, it's hard for any one woman to take a stand once the downhill slide starts, because the market value of sex drops across the board. Women used to know, but were taught to forget, the incredible power over men that they have. A society can never rise above the virtue of its women. When that virtue disappears, so will that society. It won't happen overnight, but that competitive disadvantage is so strong that it will be inevitable unless society reverses course. Naturally, the opposite is true. I think there are exceptions and many motivations that are intrinsically linked. Did Vangoh paint and Mozart write music solely to impress women? To create a positive feedback loop where all work is a thing that improves and evolves, its really a matter of perspective and not justifying toil/struggle as the only way of being productive. The problem is, the Human Species has over-bred, even with mismatched or unbalanced sex drives. I don't think you're entirely wrong. However, sex cannot be the only reason for economic success. Imagine Elon Musk saying: "I'm not interested in developing modern technologies personally. I'm just doing it for the girls." That would be insanely gross. Prostitution isn't real sex. I used to bang heaps of hookers when I was young and depressed and it just made me more depressed. It doesn't have the same effect.
