We use "If - Then" conditional statements in programming and it it a very good basis for making good intuitive programs. I didn't give it much thought as to apply it to all areas of life, this make so much sense.

Programming is possible because of the development of binary algebra. Which is codified logic. Based in the teachings of socrates. Who was trained in kemet. Which was the last of the great african kingdoms. Said another way, computer science is the attempt to answer humanity's most difficult questions. Like what is the meaning of life.

I was looking for a comment that mentioned programming. I have just started a computing science minor and I have found that I have become a much clearer thinker and problem solver after only two courses. It’s not necessary for my degree- I’m majoring in Media and Technology studies (in the Arts) with a minor in Economics, but I had a feeling there was much to gain, in a wider scope, by adding Computing Science. It’s been terrific- the effect it’s had on my mind! Thank you for your comment! 👏🏻

"If someone can prove me wrong and show me my mistake in any thought or action, I shall gladly change. I seek the truth, which never harmed anyone: the harm is to persist in one's own self-deception and ignorance.” -Marcus Aurelius. Most of our control stops at "intentional action," the reason for this is because most outcomes (feedback) are still not within our control. Our "understanding of the world" could also be subjective but if it promotes pragmatic and healthy psychological wellbeing. . .so be it!

Im very grateful for my father. Althoughout my life, he has told me of mind-over-matter. If you want to be happy, then simply be happy, if you want to be angry, sad, confused, or disappointed, then you will be. You are in control of how you react to your surroundings. You cant always control your surroundings, but you can control how you act and react, and influence the world around you. This is one of the hundreds of lessons hes taught me in just the last 18 years. Im not religious, but i hope there is a heaven simply so he can go there when he passes, he deserves it and so much more. I love you dad, ill be better than you, for you ❤️

I guess the hardest part of the process of thinking is in the feedback, how to use it to improve the logical chain that you had to predict the feedback especially when predictions doesn't match reality which is usually the case, I think being able to divide a logical chain into the most elementary blocks that form it is just so hard and it's such a powerful ability, because if you master it's way easier to find out what was wrong with your logical chain. PS: this is so frequent with programming actually

Would understanding exactly what a prediction is help? For example, based on our 10 previous predictions if there is a pattern of overestimated or underestimated values you can edit the logical change to evenly balance your bias predictions. If that made sense?

Oyyyy, don't get me started with programming! There's a reason why debugging is the hardest part. Figuring if three conditions are true is one thing, but finding where the error is among HUNDREDS of conditions and THOUSANDS of lines of code is something else. Also "dividing a logical chain into the most elementary blocks" is VERY much what object-oriented programming is made for!

1. What is the key to good thinking? - The key to good thinking is clarity. - Clear thinking is unambiguous, captures the essence of a thing, and is formulated logically. - A clear thought can be communicated through a simple if-then statement. 2. What is the benefit of clear and intentional action? - Clear and intentional action leads to clear feedback. - Clear feedback proves or disproves your thought, and helps improve your understanding of the world. - An improved understanding of the world leads to a better ability to solve problems. 3. Who is Marcus Aurelius and what made him a great leader? - Marcus Aurelius was a philosopher-king and the last of the Five Good Emperors of Rome. - He became a great leader by becoming a great thinker, and he learned to think clearly by writing a private philosophy for himself which we now refer to as his "Meditations". - In his "Meditations", Aurelius organized his thoughts in a logical way, reflecting on the relationship between his actions and their effects. 4. What is the importance of organizing one's thoughts? - Organizing one's thoughts reduces their ambiguity and makes them clear. - Clear logic leads to clear thoughts, which lead to clear and intentional action. - Clear and intentional action leads to clear feedback, which leads to an improved understanding of the world. 5. Can a clear thought be tested for its validity? - Yes, a clear thought can be tested for its validity through clear and intentional action. - Clear feedback proves or disproves the thought, and helps improve one's understanding of the world. - By improving one's understanding of the world, one becomes better equipped to solve problems.

True, experimentation, documentation, and reflection. I noticed that after graduating (BS in Psych) my problem solving and thinking started to decline because I wasn’t doing all the questioning, experimentation, documentation, and reflection that I did constantly during undergrad. A great tool I’ve found for this is playing chess. It forces you to think ahead and your opponent’s moves prompt “if-then” thinking to try and predict what their intentions are for the move. Along with this, you can plan out and premeditate on your moves.

People are too comfortable with using lies, especially with lying to themselves. Hence no clear thought or logic nowadays. Just try to look at how many lies you can spot in a day (commercials, other people's I-statements, promises, political speeches, etc.) We are drowning in lies. Our thinking patterns are messed up, faulty, dysfunctional. Question the seeming truth behind everything.

This is going to help me a lot! I like to think deeply and solve problems from many angles. But the process is almost always unorganized. That is because I do not have confidence in my mini conclusions. Boiling it down from an if then statements gives me that confidence since the if statement serves as a reason of what ever follows. I sometimes conclude things intuitively so I am not exactly sure why they're right. This causes me to look for the reasons behind instead of moving forward, causing me to be slow. It's weird. There are times I think so fast probably because of coffee and a boost of confidence but there are times where I can't even trust myself. I guess I am just excessively careful with my thoughts that it's no longer benefitting me. I find it difficult to read a simple paragraph without trying to dissect and understand it far deeper than intended. It makes me feel dumb.

@Kyra True. But thinking needs to be compensated with good brain health. Things had almost always been bad for me mentally since I faced terrible childhood and terrible upbringing in general. I suspect this has limited my intelligence because when I started to take care of my brain health religiously, I seem to learn things a lot quicker, listen better, focus better, and get in the zone easier. All this time, I have never tapped into the full capacity of my intelligence because of stress. All I needed was focus and things never had been so clear and positive

The clearest way: Clarify your goal. Based on that, you will know the smaller requisites. Those smaller requisites then become your problem, so clarify those requisites. Based on that, you will know the smaller requisites to fulfilling those requisites. Those smaller requisites then become your problem, so clarify those requisites. Now Repeat. This is the absolute formula to solving any problem.

This is a better way of thinking. In the first place, you must know what you really want, or should want. Then you have to generate ideas, evaluate them by second-order thinking and applying one.

To enhance logical thinking and achieve your goals effectively, swift progression from intentional action to feedback is paramount. Take riding a bike, for instance; although understanding the mechanics through reading and contemplation is essential, the true learning experience comes from getting on the bike, making mistakes, and gaining valuable feedback. Embrace the iterative process of learning, as it reinforces your logical prowess and propels you towards success. Don’t get stuck in paralysis by analysis.

the "if-then" statement, also known as a hypothetical syllogism, was first coined and discovered by Aristotle. He was the master of syllogisms and most if not all of the logic we find in modern society is a direct result of his genius

I love your videos and also a big fan of Marcus Aurelius (read his meditations), and because of that I just wanted to give constructive feedback for what it's worth. The message was good - clear thoughts and refining the causal relations of your cognitive models of the world makes for objectively better thinking. But after that it just felt a bit like you were repeating yourself or couldn't quite articulate what you wanted to say through the examples (which you're usually so good at)! Maybe it's just me though or perhaps I didn't understand some of the messages. Love the channel though and still far better than most of the stuff out there!

Also what helps when making the right decision. Is knowing that your old self doesn’t want to do that good thing that will help your present self create a good habit for your future self. Once your present self knows this, you can start to create a sentence that can help remind you that “just because I don’t want to doesn’t mean I shouldn’t.” Or “just because they are doing it doesn’t mean it’s what I know is right.” (If that doesn’t make sense I’ll try to reword it for you or give an example.)

Thought is any random construct of the mind, letters, words, numbers, imagined pictures, imagined sounds, etc. Thinking is an accumulation of thoughts that result in an understanding of concept. Understanding of concept relies on the abstract and logical manipulation of thoughts in a way that is reasonable to the thinker. Learning is the compilation of concepts by thinking about them. So we go in a loop, thinking then learning then thinking then... This is why thinking is important. This is my perspective, take what you will from it.

My only issue with this line of thinking is there are some things in life where there are multiple schools of thought or there isnt a single "right" way to do something. Take art for example. There are so many genres and variations for good reason, its hugely subjective. And I'm sure you could break that down into logic too, but to some degree I feel like that would make it lose some flavor. Just food for thought.

Finally, found someone! This method seems incomplete. It is only efficient when the person knows the outcome of their choices. Otherwise there is no way to tell which decision is better unless you choose one blindly. The result might be in favour but not everytime. What if their is no turning back from the choices? Once made could either aid or destroy (that we do not know which is which). For most cases this is one good way of thinking. Most.

My personal purview concerning philosophy is to absorb and soak in the aspects which resonate with you, regardless of the thinker, and thereby create your own school of thought rather than strictly following one. Becoming adaptable and effectively employing such wit and wisdom in your personal circumstances and the modern world we live in, however it best suits you. The best thing about philosophy is that it’s largely up to interpretation and can be implemented however you deem fit.

If you have clarity in your thinking, you can solve the problems faster instead of stumbling on the same problems all over again. Put out a clear hypothesis and a way to test it. And, based on the result of the test, your thinking can get better and your worldview can improve. I think writing precise instructions helps in this and forces you to organize your thoughts. So, if any one out there is struggling with thought cycles and stressors. Just put everything down on paper and try to organize your thoughts.
