Wizard, you hit the nail on the head, "Keep an open mind". Nothing designed by man (few exceptions), cannot be repaired. I worked in an emissions test lab where we assisted Weber with EPA compliance of their EFI systems. Very primitive, used a breadboard with pot resistors and an oscilloscope to set injector pulse width and ignition timing. No software, yet. I also pulled a cylinder head on a Ferrari 512 BB that had a factory porosity. It was gray market car, so Ferrari didn't know anything about the work. Fun times. Now I'm into experimental aircraft. Good times. Thank you for the videos, and please keep them coming 🏁👍🏻.

Watching you fight that Camaro to drop its tank took me back to a '97 Lesabre I owned some years back. When the fuel pump went bad, I wasn't about to try to drop the tank, so I cut an access hole in the trunk floor. Upon reassembly I used that shiny metal tape that people use to make exhaust systems sound better. Last year I had to change the fuel pump on my 2000 Lesabre. It was nice to see a factory access plate in place.

This Ferrari is a whole lot like the Porsche 928, which has it's LH injection and EZK/F ignition modules in the passenger footwell, along with the fuse and relay panel behind a board. On the 928, there is one of each computer, and that board is a piece of plywood, not plastic. This video is great in that it shows a mechanic being a mechanic and trying to figure out a problem rather than just throw parts at the issue and run up the bill, like a lot of cheap shit shops/dealerships want to do. Keep up the good work Wizard! As to the whole Coronavirus thing, I was going to change the coolant on my '14 Cayman S myself, but to do it right I need to buy a small air compressor to create vacuum in the system to remove air pockets. I can get a small compressor from Northern/Harbor Freight for $29; Instead I think I'm going to give the local south Florida shop that specializes in Porsche's called Gulf Performance some business. [I'm going to ask him to show me how to do it, of course]

Realy liked the fact you admitted it took you three hours to find the problem. Finding what is wrong can sometimes take twice as long as the repair. One of the things I forgot to ask the new mechanic was if they only go off codes. He seemed to be an honest mechanic. When he called me to explain the issues and the cost. He said it might be a catalytic converter problem but I don't think it is. We're going to go through all the other issues.... There was a lot of maintenance to do. I had been driving it since I bought it. In addition to two trips up Louisiana from Wisconsin. A lot of driving to Chicago and back to Milwaukee. And so from that I felt good about leaving it in his hands. I put 742 miles on after I got it back. Went on a little vacation. Ran fine mostly. But about the second day I got it back. Check engine was back on. Haven't had time to take it to him. It's again the catalytic converter code. So idk what's up with that. The other day it started doing this thing where if you get up to around 45 quick it makes this Jake break sound, or breaking with the engine sound in a manual. Just a very brief rev up sound in addition to the engine. Otherwise it's running. I call this car this quirkiest car I've ever own. There's always some odd new problem. Like not the cars fault but on vacation I locked the doors and my cheapo key Fab had been having issues, or was it the car security. I had found a way to make it work. Well our first stop locked the car went do some stuff an when we got back key Fab wouldn't work 😂 so long story short it was the key Fab. I need to find or find out if this mechanic doesn't just go off codes. I hate that. Like drive it, find problems.

Way to many newer mechanics depend to much on the stupid scan tool. I come from the era of OBD1 and carbs. Tuning was with a screw driver on a Holly card or Edlebrock Quadrajet 4 barrel. Could also change jets on the carb. Troubleshooting was done by sight, sound, and smell. And yes I can still work on most modern vehicles and no I'm not ASE certified, just a shade tree mechanic who has rebuilt an engine or 2 and modified an engine or 2 in his prime. Currently working on nodding my 04 TSX. Yup, 45 and it still runs in my veins. Never going to stop lol.

I work on subaru's all day long and probably the craziest code i get on a regular basis is a P000A/P000B basically vvt cam timing issues. And that is thanks to higher oil change intervals with too much carbon in the oil gumming up the intake vvt cam pulley's. The most simple but turned out to be crazy code was a P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Malfunction". You would think its a crank sensor issue or circuit problem maybe even a timing chain/belt issue. But you would be wrong in this case. Cylinders 2 and 4's connecting rods were bent in such a way the engine ran just SOO poor causing the P0335 and P0300. I later found out that the car had been modded heavy at one point and had seen 36psi on boost on the stock engine! The car was a 2015 STi so of course it has been modded.
