Agreed, There is a bare minimum one must meet to play From Software games. These games are based on player himself improving and getting better, and then defeating the difficult challenges ahead. Taking away this "difficulty" makes "self progression" meaningless, defeating the whole design goal of the game

Casuals are too used to having everything handed to them on a silver platter, remember the old days when games actually challenged you and made you use your brain to clear it? Maybe the easy games rot their brains too much rendering them unable to process when they encounter anything that demands any form of critical thinking and focus.

The Point of the game...Is to be Hard. Its the point of the game. Its what defines the Soulslike games. The players that love these games wouldnt enjoy the game anymore if there was an easy mode, because you'd literally destroy the point of the game. The Point being that its a challenge.

As a disabled individual I feel disgusted by this man. There are enough people who overcame their disablities by comitting their time to something. There is also a famous CS:GO streamer at the highest rank playing RIGHT in front of his screen (I mean that literally. @lolthesystem5 жыл бұрын
One of the core themes of Dark Souls was the following: "One becomes hollow when he gives up all hope". This was deliberately directed to the player. You only "lose" in the Soulsborne series (Sekiro included) when you give up. Death is just a minor setback, as you have infinite retries until you beat the game... or you drop it. That's why the difficulty is meaningful in the Soulsborne series. It's another narrative tool. Remove it, and you remove a part of the experience as well. As you said, Yong, accessibility options with more adapted gamepads, more color-blind options (there's various types), subtitles for sound-queus (so deaf people know if they sprung a trap by the "sound" it makes), etc... are all welcome in any game. But to say all games need an Easy mode (or even a hard mode, for that matter)? That's simply not true. What matters is the vision of the author. And if having more difficulty modes isn't in their vision for whaever reason, then so be it.
@unamed11423 жыл бұрын
Late reply but yeah I always appreciated how well the difficulty always fitted with say that ghost in the Nexus of Demon Souls whom just fades away, making it very clear this is your characters canonical fate if you give up, so does your character. The enjoyment of the game is fundamentally derived from overcoming challenges, unlike a lot of other games when you're struggling in a Soulsborne the game isn't being unfair as I'd argue FromSoftware games have what I'd refer to as 'perfect fairness' hence why people persist. The bosses aren't difficult through massive piles of hitpoints but through you not yet learning how to guard against and kill them. I believe you always need to meet a game on its own terms before rating it, Sekiro's terms is either persist, learn and overcome or give up, hence why your character does the same thing. Insomniacs Spiderman has a mode in which you literally can't lose a fight, and fits the game so well, you can't die in Animal Crossing and no one tries to tell it to make it harder. Meanwhile new players are warned off Supernova mode in Outer Worlds as a first playthrough as the game isn't designed for a hardcore mode and it hurts what Obsidian originally made with permanent companion death

About the only thing I agreed with in this video is that accessibility and difficulty aren't necessarily the same thing. Respect was a foolish word to use, unless the writer was after clicks more than actually making a point (which is sadly likely). I'd really like to experience the awesome worlds I've heard about in From Software's games. That being said, I'm not willing to subject myself to the frustration and suffering that playing the games seems to require. So, I don't get to do that--that's the result of my choice based on what From has presented. Would I like a game mode where I could experience the story and world without that frustration? Sure. Do I demand it? No.
