I much prefer drive 95 honestly, evokes the era of stunt games and early 3d (playstation release year and also windows 95 right?) and is also a neat rhyme. not to mention that 95 is a high speed mph. Maybe something like 'driveover 95' or 'overdrive 95'?. Woah I'm weirdly invested in the title of this game I only found out existed 12 minutes ago! Cheers to a happy development

The only downside of that name is that it doesn't convey the theme as well. Maybe Stunt Drive 95.

Don't know how fixed the artstyle is but I think an aesthetic that might fit the game really well would be an arts & crafts kinda style with the cars made out of cardboard. Really liking the physics so far, they look really fun!

"Definitely did more hours than we paid him for.." Obviously you're at the fun stage of a project, but this is how crunch culture begins, esp for contractors. I know you're good people, but please be careful. It's so easy to get into bad habits without even realising.

100%, had the same reaction. Crunch doesn't (just) happen because evil directors/producers crack the whip, it happens cause the ratio of expected scope to work hours is unrealistically set. If someone is working more hours than they're getting paid for, then either scope needs to be reduced, or more work hours need to be added (by either paying them for more hours, or bringing new people on). If y'all really want to understand the game development process, this is a very important aspect of it.
@zoetrope69
@zoetrope69 2 жыл бұрын
yep, if the result of this is the game fails because you can't afford to pay people correctly and fairly you should make that the end result. please don't glamorise crunch

It's a cool idea to uncover the difficulties of game development, however you have a huge advances since you are a well known brand. It's much much harder for people who don't have a following or even a budget.

I absolutely loved Stunts (on PC around the DOS/486 Era) back in the day. I think I would love a modern interpretation of that - and adding multiplayer will make me a 100% customer. If we can get LAN mode, I am sure the game will end up as an LAN-Party classic ;)

I'm not sure if you are looking to focus specifically on racing, but the game Rush 2049 on the N64 had an actual stunt mode where you would drive around various car-sized skateparks and do tricks. Might be something that could fit into this game, though it would obviously require additional work.

so in order to understand how games are made, you 1) took a dude who had already written most of the code and convinced you to use it, and 2) he's literally reinventing the wheel instead of using a game engine. Not sure you'll have the typical experience there but at least it's fun :p

...That's what they said...? They're very much aware they aren't actually making the codes for the game. The goal is to learn about the technicalities surrounding game creation. But they chime in with advices and opinions about the game's direction since they're paying for it, much like a publisher would and they even bring their own Patreons as playtesters so it's not fair to say they do nothing. Setting up a good steam page is as important as actually making the game
