i love when people share their sincere beliefs (in God or not in God) in a non-combative negative manner. It reflects a respect for the the human free will, a recognition of sort to its sacredness. no matter what you believe...always respect with love and kindness those with different perspectives on this experience called life we are all participating in. no reason to ever feel animosity towards another simply for their view on this mystery, nor to feel the need to call that view crazy. we are all learning this mystery and sometimes will find ourselves at different understandings based on where we are at respectively. in short love one another, be kind to one another, and always know that regardless of differences in understanding we are all still related and bound on a deeper level that should be clear to any fair mind of any walk of life.

I make a fair point, but the fact is that religious nuts who suspend their critical faculties to believe in something which there is no rational justification for or no evidenty support for, DO NOT DESERVE OUR RESPECT just because...... Their ideas ( not the person) need to be ridiculed, and challenged, lest you forget we have idiots flying planes into buildings so they can go to "paradise"

I will never respect religion...it's merely a concept. People allign themselves and become emotional. They start to live the concept and the religion becomes more than the the sum of its parts. Very much like following that rockstar...girls will scream and faint for the image even though they dont know the man. Religion is the same..a lot of emotion over something they really don't know.

What about people who have never married? Who have no one soul mate, so to speak? I've found love and peace in many ways, but never so deeply as reaching out to others' pain. It's of the very essence of Biblical teaching, that we're not here to make ourselves happy as one individual goal, but rather to reach out to others. If we're only reaching out to our spouse we're short changing ourselves and the world. And we learn complete and total selflessness in giving from Christ. That's what it's all about... and finding that surprisingly, complete and total peace, and joy, come through that selflessness. So much in the Bible is backwards from the way we want to think, that it's preachy or about rules. It's about showing we're serious about making the most of our lives for a larger power that has made all we see and feel, no matter how large or small our social circle. I don't hate you for being atheist. I just defend God because he's the only one who has consistently been there in my life, offered guidance, healing and peace. I defend him because he's as real as your wife, and you'd defend your wife to the death, it sounds as though. I hope you find more global peace through faith, Atheism Defended. I mean that with love and not preachiness.

We are all incredibly complex and impressive creatures.. that doesn't mean that god exists. let's all be good to eachother and deal with what is in front of us instead of praising some glorified santa in the sky. let us forget about this nonscence. if only there had been DNA-testing 2000 years ago, Maria would have been caught red-handed with her "oh, it was god who fucked me, so you can't be mad, josef"-bullshit, and millions upon millions of lives would have been saved from the death and torture that christianity (and almost every other religion) has brought us. It doesn't take a fairytale afterlife-story to be a good person, just be a good person because it's the right thing to do.

He's really changed from his early, egomaniacal interviews. I do wish he'd talk more to those friends who believe strongly and learn that Jesus' teachings were far different than just basic right and wrong, more about eternal peace. The love he speaks of originates from a source which I believe is God, who hurts as badly as the rest of us with the pain of war, death, disease, suffering. It's all been going on since the beginning of this world, and even more than today. He never promised suffering wouldn't happen to any of us, just that He'll be by our side and in our hearts if we seek Him. Love can't be about spousal love, because I've never had one. But I find love and peace and acceptance of today in very traditional, communion-based, worshipful church and in caring for all people, not just Christians, but all people. It's a peace that I can't find anywhere else and I've had a life filled with immeasurable pain. Prayer, church, communion - the only place I feel that and don't fear. Unfortunately not all churches are teaching this relationship, as some are instead providing entertainment and making people feel they have to pay them to produce it. That's not Jesus' teaching whatsoever. It's taken me almost 50 years to find out what it's all about.
@TheGreatAlan75

Jesus is nobody special. He is one of many supposed saviors over the centuries. Ask yourself "how do I know Jesus is the one true God or son of God??" Why not Zeus ? Why not any of the other hundreds of gods? You can't answer it because you are taking it on faith , which is not a reliable pathway to truth...... That and you're a victim of childhood indoctrination
@chrischaplin3066
@chrischaplin3066 7 жыл бұрын
Everyone can believe what they'd like. But seek, and ye shall find. I had one faithful parent and one not, one influence one way, one the other. I wasn't indoctrinated but rather somewhat indifferent. I've been an orphan most of my life. Why Jesus? For one, because great minds have studied the ancient texts that led to Christ for thousands of years, and they hold mystery and power. No one can disprove that he is the sole representative of God to defeat death. He healed and worked miracles, raised people from the dead while knowing his own fate, the only God to do so and to sacrifice FOR us out of agape, and require it of us toward others - not just a statue people sacrifice TO. Too long a discussion for KZbin, lol. But I'll just say it's a very deep subject and one that's taken me and many others decades to ponder, study and find peace through. Why anyone would criticize someone's source of peace in a painful world, IDK. I try not to judge anyone, not my job and only robs me of my own joy.

I believe the Gallagher brothers are born and baptized Catholics. Certainly the hand of God is often not seen at work in this world because this is a fallen world in which humanity is separated from God. Evil things happen because God gives "free will" to all - including those who commit atrocities, but they will be "Dealt with" by God. To experience the love and reality of God, the first step is to take is to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, and be born again (set aside or apart from the world), and live a new life under God's protection.

Wisdom, true wisdom begins with understanding that life as we know it, has its origin outside of the human race. The universe has a beginning, and we are not the cause of it. Something or someone else is, that is indisputable. Not only that, but the likelihood of DNA being caused by accident is zero percent, intelligence simply is not or cannot develop from non-intelligence. Something cannot come from nothing no matter how intelligent the person propagating that idea wants to believe it...

Yes there's divine love and then earthly love, the former eternal and the latter finite, ephemeral and mutable. The love that Noel is speaking about can be fulfilling but can also wither and die quick enough. And he's essentially talking about the love for his wife and children and didn't Christ say words to the effect that 'even the tax collectors do that' ? And even that love Noel speaks about could change. It's a trite secular observance that to believe in love, a human version of it, is thus to believe in God. It's of a different nature, it has to be.

bluegtturbo And yet so many people are dumb enough to believe that the fat wanker known as Ricky Gervais is some kind of philosophical scholar, just because he’s bum chums with Dicky Dawkins. He’s also from a council estate, but unlike Noel he has no talent.

" I can't allow myself to believe that things are going to be alright in the afterlife" It's like there is an atheist hell where he will go if he dares. The probem I believe is shown by him when he talks of the Bible as if it is a fairy story. This man has probably not opened a Bible in his life. If he did, he might be amazed at the level of complexity and wonder there is within its boundaries. He has prrobably got his opinion of the Bible from here say, down at his local pub or the like. It's sad really to go through life without the where with all to check these things out properly.

If you really seek the Lord you will find the Lord. God doesn't force himself on you. You have freewill that he gives you to believe or not but sadly if you reject him in this life you are separating Him in this life and will be forever in eternity. He loves you so much you can have freewill and make your decision to want to be with Him or not. Faith if having belief in something you can't see, so you are right we don't see the physical but I will say I have had an incident with a demonic spirit and an angel or maybe it was God's spirit in angelic form and did appear and protect me. I had faith before this happened. I didn't deny God's existence but had I then I would not have had the protection. I kid you not this did happen. God showed himself thru this incident and I am glad he did. Why deny the existence of one who will give you salvation and eternity in Heaven. God presents himself to you but won't force Himself but gives you the gift of eternity but you just need to reach out. But if you don't you had your freewill and you made your choice. You just made your choice. It's okay we chose our eternity and destiny just as you did. By the way, still think Noel will become Christian, it's a feeling I have. Liam I read does go to church at times. Being Irish from Manchester I am thinking maybe Catholic but maybe Protestant. I don't know. I read an interview with Noel where he said Liam is searching for God and goes to church now and then. Noel doesn't get why. One day he will.

Steven, which "placebo is this"?
@gretscher
@gretscher 9 жыл бұрын
Steven, I know what a placebo is, I was asking you what specifically was the placebo you are talking about since I mentioned so many things. It doesn't help me find peace actually, it's not religion. Sadly people who are not believers in Christ confuse religions and spirituality. I hardly even go to church but in absolute terms Heaven and Hell are real, God and satan are real. Jesus truly is real and available for anyone. If he is real why not seek him out? That's all I am saying. Another thing, you are not accepting of God or Jesus, so you won't understand that it is not about peace. Yes people have peace with Christ in their lives but to me it's more about accepting the truth of who Christ is than peace. If you had the spirit of Christ in you you'd then understand. It's okay, we all have a choice to make and you made yours as well as me. John 3:12 LOL, also Placebo i s a pretty good band from the UK too!
