There is an evacuation priority list, Hospitals, retirement homes, private residents with disabable citizens and seniors all come way before any jail or prison is evacuated. Imagine evacuating a prison and leaving seniors to drown in a retirement home.

@anthony75040 In most cases of disaster warnings to get out of the area - There's a thing called THEIR life / their choice - if ppl don't get to choose - that's called dictatorship. On the other hand, if ppl are told to leave because warmongers want to bomb the whole area - that's called genocide.

I live in Spruce Pine, NC. The entire town was underwater. People in the community were fighting for their own lives. The damage occurred on Friday and by Tuesday, they were evacuated and moved to other facilities in the state. Considering the community devastation, that was a miracle. Unlike Schuyler, I was THERE. Roads were completely gone. I'm not sure what you could expect when people who had done nothing wrong couldn't good food or water yet you expect the prisoners to be treated better. Prisoners were actually treated better than those of us that lost everything and had no where to evacuate. What a load of garbage this video is. Maybe Schuyler should spend a little time up here for perspective. As a progressive, even I find this level of ignorance offensive. How do you plan for a 1000 year storm? Comparing Florida to NC is a joke. Florida doesn't lose roads and bridges even in the worst hurricane. There were no roads, no power, no cell service, no communication services at all you dummies!

I don’t think this was done to insult or compare. I think this was done to raise awareness that there needs to be an evacuation plan for the prison system. I think you reading the purpose of the video wrong. It’s very sad that people don’t realize this is all being done intentionally. For many many reasons. People are not speaking about the real truth. Lahaina, California, Wyoming, Florida, 911 I mean we can go on and on. Lots of proof for all of this.

That's a tough one. You can't transport them and you can't release them... so what do you do? Leave it in Gods hands? The messed up thing though is that once a prisoner is in the custody of government, government has an Absolute Responsibility to Protect that prisoner. Period. Yet, we end up with prisons where more men are sexually assaulted in them than all women are throughout the entire nation including women's prisons. I'm very surprised that there weren't people (employees) that fought against this kind of treatment. (and whistleblowers as it happened).

I live in this area. I agree that prisoners had the same conditions that everyone did. We had no electricity. No water. They are still alive and we are still pulling dead people out of the water sources. Trust that these men are in prisons and there is no other place to take them too. There was no warning. We still do not touch any water 30 days after Helene. I think this woman has a very sheltered lifestyle and needs to experience human trafficking. Then she would not want prisoners in her in her home .

Exactly, I live a few miles from these prisons, I have family who work at both. They have been very worried about inmates. NOBODY here had any warning, never has a hurricane gotten stuck in between these mountains to wreck havoc for hours. There were no evacuation orders for anyone, those living close to water who were not sleeping knew when they looked out and saw the water raging and it was too late. Those that made it were cut off with no way out for days, some for weeks, no water, no power, no communications at all some searching for missing loved ones including prison employees. Roads and bridges blocked with debris or just simply gone. Inmates were evacuated as soon as humanly possible. They had no choice but to wait until there was a road open passable to get them to another facility with water and power and enough employees. I know there is a problem with prisons and treatment of inmates but this situation was something different and if this lady had been here in the middle of hell with the rest of us perhaps she would understand everyone did the best they could under the extreme circumstances! Far a govt helping? Hahahaha! People who lost everything are having trouble getting the measly 750, didn’t see fema until day 21 and all aid , supplies, search and rescue, recovery, clean up etc has came from locals and volunteers from across America. I hate they felt abandoned for a few days but fact is pretty much everyone in the community was abandoned-these inmates were in a much better situation than most of the tax paying law abiding community...at least they had a dry place to sleep! Many didn’t! Most people didn’t have knowledge that they NEEDED to evacuated. Sorry…I just don’t have sympathy in this situation except for the thousands of families who lost loved ones and their homes, businesses and livelihood. ❤🙏🏻🇺🇸

Every human life has equal value. I would never want to humiliate or cause anyone to feel ashamed of their discourse. I strive to enlighten only. There is NO priority for the lives of prisoners. And because ignorance, not hate, is at the root of most bias...I serve to shed a little light on a single mitigating factor that should help you to equal the the playing field for those who have rationalized prisoners to have had an advantage with a "dry" place to sleep. But You are right. They were INDEED fortunate. They were only lucky this time because the facility suffered no destruction. Or just maybe, it could have been they were actually blessed by God or the universe and PURPOSELY protected as we know GOD makes no distinction in the value of a life and knew these prisoners would surely die. See..as a person not incarcerated and as horrible as it was and I am so sorry for those who lost and suffered however through all of it, you STILL had the ability to make choices in your next physical steps for your best chance at survival. Can you imagine being locked in a steel cage filling up with water while someone else ran off with the key? It's the county jails we should be most concerned with. I promise you....if and when the shit really hits the fan again, they already have a death sentence to go with your judgement. Natural instinct and panic aided by the political rhetoric that it's time for Americans to think only about themselves will make it easy for Employees at these facilities to abandon the inmates for sake of themselves and their own families. And then, possibly using your same rationale for determining value, will not take the time or make the effort to let them out so they can at least have a chance to save themselves or their own families. This is our current reality folks. What HAVE we become? Don't be so naive. It's not just a threat it is the condition and I am so glad this woman has reported on it.

Stop with the blame game. The vulnerable were priority and quite rightly so. Prisons are more solid buildings for good reason. Though not ideal this was a national emergency in extraordinary circumstances, an able bodied human can survive many days of fasting. I understand they should always have a supply of water and probably MRE’s on hand inside prisons, hospitals and any building with a large amount of people. But, i will say at least the prisoners don’t sound like they were under threat of having the building filled up with mud and water, and the roof crashing down. They were uncomfortable and had to deal with some of the same issues that just about everyone had to deal with in the states effected. But, they had a roof over their heads and a bed to sleep in. I guess I can see with the roads being flooded and damaged they needed to stay in place until it was safe to evacuate them all. Since the storm happened the way it did and it was at night they probably had only a minimum of staff on duty, so the prisoners probably thought they were abandoned but they weren’t in reality. My only suggestion would be for the state and federal authorities to prepare better like I said with the food and water, since you never know what is going to happen in this world today. We can’t really do anything about the electricity and plumbing besides wait I guess in a storm of this magnitude.

My daughter killed her ex boyfriend in a self defense shooting. The investigating officer said it was clearly self defense. She immediately turned herself in. She wasn't put in handcuffs, and rode with the officer to the police station. The police captain, in order to help his ego, said to arrest her. Nobody bothered to look into her ex boyfriend's background, to see that he had already been arrested 2 times for domestic violence, against my daughter. NC has a stand your ground law, but it doesn't seem to apply if you know your assailant. The system is corrupt and poorly run. It's all about collecting the money. Inmates at the local jail, are forced to pay for third world medical care. They serve unhealthy food, so the inmates are forced to buy slightly less unhealthy food at outrageous prices. They won't allow visitors or letters, so inmates are forced to pay to talk to friends, relatives, and even their attorneys. They limit toilet paper usage, so they must improvise. They will sometimes sell overpriced items to inmates, only to seize them later, and say it's contraband. The corruption is out of control, but people who haven't been put through it, or didn't know someone who went through it, don't have a clue.

The lack of regard for human life from our government is beyond disgusting. That is including all of those impacted! The people running these institutions should absolutely be held accountable. They should by law be required to have a plan. But then again our citizens of all walks seem to be expendable! Have there been any consequences for those who were sentenced to fry on Maui? Blocked in the furnace!!!

517!!!!!! Prisoners perished in a New Orleans Prison during Katrina If they tried to escape they were fired upon!👮‍♂👮‍♂👮‍♂👮‍♂👮‍♂👮‍♂👮‍♂ The 517 Inmates are still listed as missing today. Schuyler Mitchell, could you also look into this devastating event? These inmates had no evacuation plan, only death awaiting for them💀⚰⚰⚰ Prisons are also under the Hippa Law. When it comes to NOK=Next of Kin and emergency notification definition. Under this guise, he/she might try to escape.🤐🤐It was up to this Prison's discretion when and what information to disclose🤐 Inmates are still Human Beings at the end of the day!!!. Inmates have to wait months for surgeries. If they are shipped out before surgery to another facility?🤷‍♀ The process has to start all over again. While illegals are given Medicaid insurance the same day they apply for it. Says a victim arrested for X-trafficking, busted by the Sheriff of Polk County Tampa, Florida. You're right,👍💯 Inmates are just another slave on the Plantation.⛓ They were shot trying to tread the rising waters.🌊 When an Inmate number is assigned? Your Parental ties are severed to your son or daughter!!! 🤷🤷‍♂✂Parents don't have to be given any information🤐 If the inmate doesn't have you on that visiting list or listed as NOK? You won't even get a notification if he/or she passes away. Not till you go to visit them🥶 🧐Which is very disturbing👀👀👀😫

(&) book 'The Rise of The Warrior Cop and the Militarization Of The United States Police Force' on how Police Cadets are being taught that American Citizens are the Enemy. (&) Let's not forget on FOX News 'Tucker Carlson' in late May'22, a Video Clip was played of Joe Biden giving Homeland Security FEMA Director Alejandro Mayorkas Executive Instructions, stating in these exact words, "I WANT UNBRIDLED, UNMITIGATED, UNRELENTING, UNLIMITED, ONGOING SURGING OF THE UNITED STATES BORDERS ; TILL ALL AMERICAN WHITES BECOME THE MINORITY!" (&) KZbin channels 'Judicial Watch', 'Wolves and Finance', 'Forgotten History', 'Facts Matter With Roman Balkonov' also have indepth news segments on Subjects important to basic freedoms, that the Alphabet Soup titled major medias who openly take Multi-millions of Dollars in Grants from the Chinese Communists and openly have State Dinners with top 'Chinese Leaders', conveniently choose to totally twist or ignore. While I completely agree that these are horrible horrible conditions and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone…. But What happened with this hurricane was like nothing we have in recorded history. Low lying areas, we expect flooding, even when engineers have worked hard to prevent it. NC/TN Appalachia was just insane! NO ONE was warned! NO ONE said evacuate! I’m in NENC, we can look at hurricanes and know, evacuate or ride. This hurricane was similar to the one that hit our coast in 2018. The amount of water dumped prior to an after arrival is what did so much damage! Places well outside creek and river flooding levels - per history - were completely washed away! The water was so high they found ppl in trees. TREES!!! A LOT must be looked into regarding this event!! Ppl will be displaced just like Katrina. Not only that but you have land grabs going on…which HAS to be researched, esp considering the mineral rights! Thankfully, the prisions weren’t washed away, unlike so many! Plus, the reason they were left for so many days was bc all the roads were washed out! There were no power! No phones! Nothing! On top of all that gov was an even bigger hindrance! The inmates is a huge story…but it’s so much bigger!! You need to look at ALL OF IT!

@@jeffmercer9655 Should you have to die as punishment from a natural disaster and how many of them were proven guilty I might add. It's the same as the pharisees telling Ponchos Pilate that Christ was the son of God and was saying blasphemous statements. If they didn't admonish him to the Roman detachment nothing would have been done. Such was not the case was it as Christ was nailed to the cross and in the agonizing minutes before his true death which meant the soul also died. Pilates wife dreamt that he was indeed the son of man and not to do this. Shortly after he gave the order his life was taken by a heart attack. Do you feel that there was a reason for this, absolutely. Father he cried why has thou deserted me and the father had to look away. Is it possible that on judgement day your going to stand in front of the Creator and echo that same sentiment? Rest assured that will be the last thing that comes to mind. Be of good faith and God bless.

Most confinement population, could be utilized to help when disaster strikes. Theyd be partially free and it would be a positive outcome. LE can supervise their conduct. The most violent criminals arent considered. Its a worthy cause for the purpose of manpower. Work release would make a difference. Its used to fight wild fires and other natural distasters. Its giving back to society.

This environmental disaster is EXACTLY WHY we must collectively scream for the total greening of the prison system. From this point forward. All new and pre-existing prisons must be built or retrofit with environmentally sustainable materials. All water and power must be sourced from renewable resources only. Absolutely no exceptions. Any and all material going to inmates must be 100% recyclable. There will be no wastage. All food will be strictly vegan and wholly organic. Heavily salted and sugered snacks as well as anything high in saturated fats and sodium will be immediately phased out. Lastly, Any and all reading and viewing material going to inmates must exclusively reflect the environmental movement for education and indoctrination. Remember people... There is no planet B.

It's sad that it takes conditions like this for someone to take a 2nd look at the prison system in our country. Yet here in NC and the dept of corrections for women is deplorable. Women live in extreme heat with no escape to air conditioning, no access to quality health care or self-care of prisoners. Let me pose this question: what crime constitutes our Corrupt Justice system the power to deem one's life a waste? Prison is supposed to reform yet it recycles the vicious cycle until we as a society stand up and do something about it.

Idk how they made the way for us to get down the mountain bur they did. When I actually got ro see everything I was like omg it was/is really bad. They cldnt get food in to us. That's another reason they sent us. They didnt wanna have to deal with a bunch of dope sick ppl with no food. Bc they ran out of our methadone and subs. That wlda been really bad.
