honestly the first girl saying, "what is a little girl like me going to do to you?" was so ominous because she may be little but you can tell she is a full grown adult woman, And she is leveraging her gender over someone to bully them. From the reaction of her boyfriend throughout the incident, it seemed like something she would say to him. A meaner version of hitting your sibling and going, "don't cry, don't cry, don't tell mom", because she fully believes that these men will never "tell mom".

A big reason why a lot people really dislike the tube girl videos is that it demonstrates that more and more people care about their online persona than what then their offline persona. It brings to question whether we have entered into a black mirror style of dystopia. On top of it just being really annoying. The difference with shows like Eric Andre and Impractical jokers is those people are asked sign waivers after being filmed. If they dont get one, they blurr their face. There isn't an abundance of prank shows that take place in public to the degree of tiktokers disrupting public day to day life of everyone around them. There's no harm in what these people are doing. It just demonstrates how much social media has changed the way people behave and not for the better.

Social media has exponentially increased narcissism in society. The whole “main character” trope is just a cute name for narcissistic personality disorder. There is nothing positive, cute or healthy about any of this. And to comment directly to Cooper disagreeing with the comments about the little girl - a child behaving like that is an absolute failing on the part of the parents. Zero respect and also, child obesity is 100% child abuse. The health issues that young girl is going to have for the rest of her life is both shameful and cruel on the part of her parents. Health is the ultimate wealth - and anyone who has suffered health issues (more specifically, metabolic health issues) will attest to this. Myself being one of them. 🙏

Going to have to respectfully disagree, Cooper. For the video of the girl dancing in the subway, she isn't hurting anyone, but I don't like being filmed by strangers so this kind of thing, where it's basically impossible to get out of the shot, frustrates me. The first girl was completely fine since she wasn't dancing around everywhere and only filmed herself, but the second girl was doing something completely different. Edit: It's also very dangerous to be dancing in small, cramped areas like trains. Someone could easily be hit, stepped on, or the filmer could trip and fall. These would all happen even more easily if the train hit a bump. It's just not safe, and a person doing this is actively endangering themself and the people around them.

The girl in the subway is a danger. She is swinging her hands around and stomping dynamically, not paying attention who might be in the way in front or to the side of her. She is not holding a handlebar and can easily fall. There is a different standard of what is acceptable on a street and on a narrow, moving train. That massive difference is only made more severe when you consider the level of scrutiny individuals are exposed to on the internet- a scrutiny which in these videos is actively encouraged. Unless a crime has been committed, generally CCTV footage isn't posted online by the government or a homeowner for the person to be ripped to shreds, harassed, doxed, or otherwise put in danger. There's a reason corporations have such a massive barrier of entry for accessing someone's private information as well. I think you should reconsider the Amelia video, her mom is literally exposing her to the internet knowing her behavior isn't right and complaining about it but not actually doing anything to teach her how to be better. Yes, she is a child now but she is gonna grow up and her life is gonna be miserable with that attitude because it is gonna affect her in every aspect of her life. The fact that she doesn't understand how to act and function on society like a decent person it's gonna affect her on a longterm. This isn't quirky, this isn't funny, it's sad and it's BAD parenting. I don't have my brain rotten, I've raised my little sibling and still do, and I think I can talk about parenting, when you raise a child, you don't think about those behaviors as funny, if you really care about the child you realise that those behaviors are gonna affect them on a long term on a social way, because they aren't gonna be good people if you don't teach them how to be good. If you don't explain them from an early age and let them grow up to that point where they act like Amelia it's acting there, it's just gonna be really hard to fix that later, they are gonna struggle, they are gonna suffer. Also, it's weird that her mom exposed her to the internet knowing the kind of v10l3nt reaction people where probably gonna have about that attitude. Her child doesn't deserves that h4t3, but she does for exposing her like that and be overall a mess at parenting.

I've done both. I'll let my playful, sassy kid be that way all he wants, because he's just trying to get a laugh (and no, it wouldn't be different if he were a girl. It's all about the attitude.) A child acting like that, I'm sorry, but I would never let my child get that out of hand with such a bad attitude. It makes everyone around them uncomfortable with the scene going on, especially because you've got to wonder if this is a kid that's going to tangle with security when they get older because they don't see anything wrong with doing these sorts of things, but store security or retail employees may have a very different take on that, especially when she's not "a cute little kid" but an older teen or even adult. Having seen adults do that... it's not pretty, cute, playful, or sassy. It's disruptive at best...

I'm a shocked at the amount of bad takes Cooper had this video. First of, Amelia's mom filming her daughter being entitled (it isn't being being quirky) in a grocery store doesn't only show how bad of a parent she is by videotaping and posting her daughter in a bad moment to embarrass publicly, something that might follower her entire life. But her bad parenting can even be reflected in the way Amelia acted to begin with (assuming it wasn't staged), taking things that haven't been paid for as hers to use or consume and assuming that her mom would just do what she says. Don't take this as me placing blame on Amelia, the bad behavior of children is the fault of the parents, not her. Secondly, the girl in pink has all the right to be there as much as the other one has the right to film in a public place, and just because saying yes is the socially acceptable thing to do, it doesn't mean the girl in pink has to do it. It isn't being the "main character" or "entitled" to not want to do something you don't want to do, she has all the right to say "no." Lastly, the girl in the train, which i would like to premise by saying that I actually do agree with Cooper for the most part. Can she do that? yes. Is it cool in post? I'd say so. Would I find it annoying if I was there during filming? maybe, but I'll live. What I have issue with is how Cooper portrayed all that believed it was "main character behavior" (derogatory), are just "woman hating sexists" and that it would have been okay if it was a man doing it, when in reality there is some real criticism to be had (there was also some weird ones, such as the "smack" comment). One example of proper criticism is that, to be there present when the filming is done can be considered annoying by many people's standard, it is overtaking everyone else's space in a public setting, and taking videos of strangers even if they are not the main focus (It is true that she is able to film there, but it is also true that many could have felt uncomfortable by it) is plain and simply rude, especially if she didn't ask.

I remember being a little miffed when someone’s family members asked us to clear the entire area of a mansion’s botanical gardens for a proposal. We obliged, but we had paid $60/ticket to the gardens and it felt a little unfair we had to relinquish our spot for someone else’s moment. And it lasted until closing. 😂 I can’t see myself asking someone to move, unless I rented out a space. If you’re going to do something in public, you just need to accept that there will be public, and just like gym influencers… you can’t be mad when someone walks in front of your camera. And if they don’t want to move… welp, hope your influence can buy you your own property next time. 🤷♀️

This is NOT about hating women. Its about hating entitlement and treating the people around you like theyre mindless NPCs. Quite frankly I find it SO distasteful that you'd even frame it that way. 1) That person that asked pink to move over might have been polite, but then to go online and bash her for it? In a popular tourist spot where LOTS of influencers are doing the same thing and denying others the chance to enjoy their evening? Its not difficult to look into these places and see people complaining about it and to see how influencer culture has made it hard to simply exist in those spots. 2) People filming in close quarters, bouncing around, all for a lipsync video DO cause issues. They get in peoples ways, they film people without permission, and they can end up physically colliding with people. Impractical Jokers have intense insurance contracts, release of identitfy clauses, and have to have permission for EVERY person they wind up having on their show. 3) Filming your child misbehaving in such an egregious way and then posting it online for CLOUT is insane to me. Its going to damage that kid in the future if they see how people react to that and what does it teach them about being rewarded for that behaviour? "Shrinking down" is far different from being mindful and polite to others. No one reasonable is asking these people to shrink down, theyre asking them to be mindful.

Yeah I have a problem with the mom recoding the child for that reason. I'm deadly anxious of being recorded secretly, having pictures taken even by family or friends etc. That being said, I don't really think the tube girl or the museum video were that much to get mad about. Countless videos on every site with video creation features people in background shots who may not know they're being recorded. To me, it's hard to really get mad in these scenarios. However tiktoks of people recording strangers without consent to mock them need to seriously be looked into.
@jadeshay1 Жыл бұрын
Coop, my guy, I disagree with quite a few of your takes on this one. -Filming without others consent in a tight, enclosed space where people can't leave, riding transportations that they have to use, while in a moving vehicle that frequently makes turns and jerks and twists and stops and she could fall on anyone, is not acceptable. Professional comedians and film producers have to get permits and follow privacy regulations, that's what makes it different. -Filming your child doing something wrong and posting it online to an audience of hundreds or thousands is not ok. I take a lot of issue with social media's lack of child protection and privacy regulations. Honestly think you should've blurred her face and not used her name in this video, you have nearly 900k subs. -Asking someone to move for a photo is reasonable if asked politely, refusing to do so is fairly rude, but filming that stranger in a place that they have every right to be in and posting them online is not ok /especially/ whenever you are going to bash them for their actions. -I'm mostly ok with museum girls video, but again, there were clearly visible people in the shot who didn't consent to be in it. People shouldn't have to constantly worry about being in people's videos constantly in order to participate in society. You should be able to go to the museum without becoming a featured face in a video that is posted to a public page where thousands of people can view it. It's legitimately a safety concern! What if you film a person that has a restraining order against someone, and that person sees the video and is able to use it maliciously to learn what city they might be living in or where they work (if it's an employee) or any number of things!

Unfortunately, this means you may be filmed while in public even if you don't want to be. I think it's pretty unreasonable to be expected to ask everyone who might walk by in your video for permission. The platforms that are allowing these videos to be posted can require they blur the faces of strangers but it's pretty important to be able to keep filming publicly. Is it rude, probably to those of us who grew up without cameras everywhere but society has changed and these kids don't know any different and probably never considered it rude. It's normal for them.

While some of these people were annoying, cooper was trying to point out how there is a societal double standard when it comes to women online versus men. She can live her best life, YES, but some people have factors that need be considered outside of just "Is this *DIRECTLY* affecting you?" because that's not the only way people are affected. SECONDLY, Amelia's mom opening her daughter up to criticism online is gross and abusive, children should have NO presence on the internet in that way at all, and reinforcing that Amelia should act bratty and entitled to get attention online, and that all attention is good attention is a TERRIBLE lesson for a child, and a breeding ground for insecurities as she grows up. Cooper this whole video kind of reeks of white-knighting. AND I GET IT THAT SOME ON REDDIT ARE GROSS WOMEN-HATERS but dude come on, they're literally forcing everyone else in that train to have to endure their entire performance, and they get to go home happy while someone like me is left a nervous wreck just because the extra commotion that I couldn't escape- or a poor girl like Amelia is encouraged by people like you to just be "charismatic" when in reality it's just trying to make her a punching bag for interactions. I love ya cooper, been watching you for a minute now and gotta say this is the first big L I've seen, and it's like, the whole video...

Sorry Coop, that child's behavior was absolutely inappropriate. Let's assume for a moment that the parent set it up bought the thing and encouraged the child to act like that, okay questionable parenting but whatever. Now let's assume the video was unscripted and the child just walked up stole something off the shelf and started drinking it "because she wanted it." Children have to be TAUGHT impulse control. You don't get to just walk around as an adult and grab shit "because you wanted it," that's called stealing. And it's not cute. The child was disrespectful to her parent as well as her surroundings. Is it the worst thing in the world, absolutely not, but it's not acceptable behavior and it shouldn't be encouraged. That's encouraging entitlement. The girl in the museum was fine. A cute video in a cute outfit minding her own business. The girl on the train subway whatever was all up in EVERYBODY'S business invading their personal space. It would aggravate me if a male did that as well. I do appreciate the acknowledgment of the misogynistic overtones that usually infest these kinds of criticisms, but people being annoying in public are people being annoying in public. Just like guy on the luggage claim. There's a difference between being your own main character and living your life, vs being disrupting or disrespectful to the people around you who are all also trying to live their own lives. I think there's a larger discussion to be had about the incredibly individualistic and self-centered culture of the US that's not being acknowledged here

About the girl in pink, if it's not a problem to use a public space to take pictures of yourself, then it's equally not a problem to use a public space to just stand there. It's a bit of a double standard to say she's being unreasonable for not wanting to move - It looks like it would be hard to move around those tiny slabs, and someone might take her spot. Personally, I want to not be perceived because of my anxiety, and people constantly recording things for social media is actually cringey and anxiety-inducing. I don't want to constantly have to wonder whose video I'm showing up in. That doesn't make influencers in the wild bad people necessarily, but it's not wrong for people to feel disenchanted with how public and private life have become inextricably linked with online clout, performative moments, and monetary gain. And it's DEFINITELY not wrong to not want to be filmed everywhere you go.

For the girl at the video at about 14:20, I think it's one of those "you can ask, but they're allowed to say no" situation In a vacuum, I agree that it's a small thing to ask. But now that so many people are trying to get *THE* shot they want and ask everyone to move around, I wouldn't be surprised that the one that didn't move was already asked before by others. Personal opinion, it's more of a "no one in the wrong" with a bit of "you're in the wrong for trying to put the other on blast for not moving" I understand that most people film in public and all, but I would completely object to be in someone's random video when the only thing I did was "not moved when asked" (not a crime or doing something objectively wrong) There's already so many videos where the people in the background become the subject of viral videos when they are just living their lives, that it makes me uncomfortable when I see other people being the subject of videos when they clearly didn't want to participate
@ginbug7061 Жыл бұрын
I have to disagree on the pink dress girl too- I think what the girl filming did was way worse. When someone asks if you can move for a video and you say no, the second thing to do is ask “do you mind being in the frame of the video”? If the answer is also no- find another way to film. To film this girl after she said no and then act annoyed and post it to your followers is actually a gross move. How many times do we see that behavior of “I didn’t get what I wanted so now I’ll let TikTok find/harass this person” we all know the kind of hate mob that kind of story can create- it’s been covered on this exact channel. Especially in this video where it would have been extremely easy to crop the girl out and still get a stunning vertical video. Just a nasty move tbh

The only thing I agree with you on is that her announcing to the world that pink dress girl didn’t move was wrong. Everything else though, not really. When you’re in public, you automatically consent to being filmed because it isn’t illegal to film anyone or anything in public. If you asked someone to move and they say no, or even if they say they don’t want to be in the video, you can still film without their permission. Because the girl filming has just as much of a right to film, as the girl does to say no to moving. So… 🤷🏻♀️

Dearest Cooper, This video was not a hit for me, despite that I watched it all the way through of course. I feel like you focused too much on what the hellholes of reddit were saying and neglected the general populations opinions and concerns. I think many others in the comments agree with me. I think many of these clips you give them the benefit of the doubt when they don't deserve it. Clip 1 (crazy lady): I agree with your take maybe could have been taken more seriously, but this is a funny channel so I can let it go Clip 2 (Amelia): I think it is mildly irresponsible of you to only praise Amelia and her mother(?) in this video. I feel normally in videos you maintain a good balance of not completely bashing a person while still laying out why you think it is wrong. In this video, not only does the parent upload a video of her daughter onto the internet for everyone to comment on, this also is bad parenting Amelia isn't doing anything wrong, like other commenters have said its not illegal to open things in the store as long as you pay for it in the end, but because the mother isn't giving a firm no yet still uploads it, wouldn't you think this would give other kids the idea they can open things in the store. What if THEIR parents can't pay for it or the kids leaves it after opening it. That IS a problem. Yes Amelia is a child. No, weight should not be discussed when talking about this video. But the way Amelia talks to her mom IS rude and should be corrected, not on camera because none of this should have been on camera. I really wish Cooper would have been a little harsher instead of just hyping up the sassy little girl. Clip 3 (Tube girl): I love when others possess a confidence that I do not have. I just love when others do it with no invasion into personal space or any danger for others is created. I have a couple problems with this video. 1, Filming strangers in any other circumstance (not on a subway) there is space to move away from who ever is filming, here there isn't. Not only is it dangerous to be moving around in a subway while its moving (see point number 2) there is also no where to go. The other tube girl trend you showed I think did very well not showing others faces. Focusing the video on herself for the majority and having the other faces blurred. I think using the impractical jokers as a similar, but better example is wrong, granted I don't know much about the behinds of that show, but I think it is rude regardless of intent to film someone without knowing how they'll react. I've heard of cases where crazy stalker exes find their victims through videos like these I know its a small chance but why would you be ok with that chance 2, safety, you cannot deny she is posing a risk to herself and those around her by doing this, walking around without holding onto anything without looking is dangerous. Again I think the other tiktok you should was a better example as she held on did not walk around and observed her surroundings much more. The hate these videos are getting is not because they "hate women" its more complex then that, and I feel like a flaw with this video, Cooper, is you only looked for the truly vile comments that fit the "we hate women" idea. For your video I understand that, but the commentary you provided should still recognize the dangers not only praise them. Clip 4 (girl in pink): Someone else summed this up really well. It's ok to ask her to move and it's ok for her to say no. Cooper while I don't completely disagree with your take here I feel like you've fallen into the person who posted this's trap. Think about why she posted this. There is no other reason besides shaming the girl in pink. OF course most people would move if asked to, that's not the point. She does not have to cater to anyone around her for something like this especially. Again by immediately jumping to the comments and showing us the ones that are only hyping up girl who posted this you have to realize what you are doing. Doesn't it look like the girl in pink is talking to her friends? and is standing right next to a pool with nowhere to go? what if she can't go anywhere else? But that's not the point she does not have to move and she does not deserve to be posted on the internet solely for the purpose of berating her just because she didn't. Clip 5 (big guy): no thoughts Clip 6 (art mueseum): This I think is the only one that truly fits the "main character" cringe archetype. Do I like this? No, but who cares what I think. Its not for me. But I think this is a good example of my problem with this video all you did Cooper was find comments on reddit showing weird creepy people being weird and creepy without ever voicing a different non weird and creepy opinion that is out there. I've come to expect from your videos a voice to all opinions. I feel like in your others videos you'd say somethings like "is it weird for her to be filming in an art mueseum while pretending the camera isn't there" or make some joke about how quirky she seems. Or at the very least say she's just a girl and we shouldn't criticize her. I think overall I'm just frustrated how not only did you not bring up any genuine criticism with any other these videos but you made it seem like their was none which IS dangerous. Normally I love your videos, but this one felt wrong to me, it almost felt like you cut out all of the seriousness to the video in attempt to only have the extreme opinions shown which is not what I feel you normally do. Overall its not up to me what you do. I still watched this video and will watch all of your others, but I think I and other commenters like me have a point. Sorry for my rant, I do sincerely appreciate you Cooper and hope you see this.

The Impractical Jokers and Eric Andre aren't really the same thing as TikTokers filming in public though are they? Those shows have to get permission to show someone's face on TV, which is why so many shows have people with blurred faces as they either couldn't find them to ask permission or the person chose not to be on TV. People on tik tok filming in public will post it your consent be damned. It is a violation of your privacy, period. I love yah, Cooper, but let's talk about Amelia and Amelia's mom. Amelia's behavior is abhorrent and a result of neglectful parenting. She is disrespectful to her mom, cannot recognize that actions have consequences (evident by her, "Who cares?" remark), uses obscene language, likely has made low-paid employees of that store uncomfortable, and Amelia DOES indeed see herself as the main character as depicted by her ethical subjectivist approach (doing what one wants because, 'It feels right.') Given Amelia's perceived age, her reasoning should be better developed and encouraged growth should be provided by her mom. This brings me to my next and main point: In the Nature versus Nurture debate, it is widely recognized that each contribute to behavior equally; in Amelia's case, it's clear that the parenting of and nurture aspect within Amelia's life has been lackluster. Evidence to support this would be the very fact of this video being posted, Amelia's weight, and Amelia's behavior. Psychology says that advertising Amelia's distasteful behavior to the world will likely reinforce the behavior, a.k.a., her entitlement mentality. Posting this video showcases the mom's intention of using her daughter as a mere means; a means to gain views and boost dopamine rather than parent/encourage positive behavior. I believe it is unfair to critique any comments left on this TikTok video as the very nature of the internet entails opening your contributions to criticism. Thus, while bullying a young girl is unacceptable, noting Amelia's size is just a part of the consequences that ensue when her mom is willing to post this video. The responsibility to protect and keep a child healthy falls entirely on the parents and should, by no means, be the child's responsibility. An undeniable fact is that obesity and processed food kill people quickly and at an alarming rate. Amelia's health is clearly in jeopardy. Another interesting call-out to make would be how filming of and granted access of social media to Amelia might affect her mental health and mentality as a whole. Given the recent development of smartphones and social media, we still cannot fully comprehend or know the effects these aspects will have on future generations. What we DO know is that there is a strong correlation between declining mental health and social media. Mark Zuckerberg himself has denoted that social media shows causation for eating disorders and degraded self-concepts/low self-esteems. My last point is something I hope we can also consider: Amelia's generation is the future and encouraging a generation of "queens" and main characters is equivalent to encouraging a bleak future. If everyone did what they want simply because, "They can," or, "It feels right," society would crumble. Each new generation of parents shapes the next to come. It's a scary world we live in, especially when we can justify the behavior seen in this video and uphold ignorance to the decline of future generations. Parents need to be held responsible and negative behavior in children should not be encouraged. Change my mind, if you please. I hate being an ENTP... If you know, you know.

I don’t think letting Amelia have fun this way is the best as she will learn she can get away with rude or disrespectful behaviour and if the mom say didn’t pay for that might encourage her to steal in future not sure on this but just a possibility . Now I don’t agree with what those people were saying in the comments fully when they were saying it rudely or basically bullying . But I do think the parent is in the wrong . I don’t think Amelia is cause she is a child and doesn’t know any better at this age . But I do think it needs to be corrected .

INFJ here. We both share the N (intuitive) and even my other letters and their meanings are in agreement with you. I absolutely LOVE your explanation as your thought process and perception went deeper into what I felt and Judged was going on with Amelia and her mom.

I agree completely with you. You articulated exactly everything I was thinking about the video of Amelia and her mother. I'm shocked by Cooper's reaction to that clip.

I agree with you that technically the kid is right and you can eat or drink a grocery store item and then purchase it, but I guess the issue is that she is a child and maybe isn't operating on technicality and is operating more on entitlement? Either way, it doesn't need to be on tiktok

i hear you completely - the thing is, she’s displaying pretty normal behavioural issues for that age, that a lot of people had to learn from as a child; they just never had it posted on the internet. i empathize with these kids when their parents first response to poor behaviour is to stick a camera in their face for internet attention - i cant even criticize the kid when they have no true consent in having that posted :( just bums me out tbh. could be a learning moment for a child, but instead it’s a public shaming moment

@@beagle9662 absolutely. And why are people, and the mother, acting like this is such terrible and uncommon behavior? It is totally normal. The kid is being a kid.

I love this channel but as a woman the whole women defender thing is getting a bit weird. The little girl wasn’t cute or funny, that’s gonna be a problem for her later in life and the mom shouldn’t be clout chasing and encouraging it. No one is entitled to any space, and if someone says no to being asked to move for an aesthetic video along the entire platform that’s valid.
