What if Salad Fingers represents youtubers and internet personalities in general? Notice how they all greet thier audience in similar ways and always doing some weird shit as though it's part of their daily lives but then you find out that there is really something wrong with them that you don't see during the 5 or so minutes that they are on air. The irony in that however, is that all the fame gets in to youtubers heads while SF is driven mad by loneliness. One thing that they all share is that they are both bored and with a lot of time on thier hands.

FlyingOverTr0ut i know right? I've seen a lot of animators just quit or not upload anything at all and that really saddens me and the community, but just look at David! He's still going strong, and still does what he loves not because of money but because of sheer passion and enjoyment and it really shows it in his videos, his content has gotten a lot better too . All in all, I highly respect this man for what he does eventhough we all know animating is painstakingly hard and he's one of the few (that I know) that still posts some high quality content here on YT :}}

David Firth is the third content creator to earn some of my money. Admittedly the one USD per isn't much, and will be totally worthless when our government officials finally reveals themselves to be mutant spider-people on PCP, and convert the American currency to large roaches that were birthed by the fallout of our decaying nuclear arsenal. But none the less, it's not expensive, and it's an easy way to get that warm fuzzy feeling that you get for supporting the arts.

Unfortunately, that's not how it works in the very top level of society. The top 0.0001% of humans actually have the power and the so called thing we all agree to buy EVERYTHING, "money", to buy quite literally everything. Money doesn't buy happyness, some say. I am curious if those people would throw away their future, even their life for the happyness of others, through money. (that's quite literally how ISIS operates)

Good job getting the word out David. As a long time fan I'd just like to clear some things up for some people who seem angry about this video. Patreon is a way to give money to someone when and if they make something. This isn't David "begging" for money, its him just saying "If you like my stuff and really want to throw money my way, then here's how to do it." Don't hate on Patreons' or Kickstarter's system or the people who use it, just make your own decisions based on reputable creators and your own financial situation. And, David has for years put out unique and quality content. It's not like he's some nobody straight out of arts school promising something we don't know if he can deliver, he has accumulated millions of viewers and has a huge cult following. If anyone deserves Patreon funds, its him. Also I find it strange to say that Patreon is "donating" I mean, David works super super hard to create his content. What right do you have to say he shouldn't be paid for what he does?

I believe this is where things can get interesting. Let's see the millions of people whining about KZbin censorship put their money where their mouth is and actually support creators...you know...since they're *_SO_* outraged by ghastly censorship and corporate interference.
@davidfirth7 жыл бұрын
I tried to not make this about KZbin really - they can do whatever they want since it is their business. I did whine a bit at first but came to the conclusion that we should never rely on a service like KZbin for our entire livelihood. It was just convenient for a time and now it isn't.
@tphillips19907 жыл бұрын
I hate talking about it as I always run the risk of coming off like a corporate apologist. I think all this talk of "censorship" is highly exaggerated. People are still free to go against the grain, it's just becoming harder to gain ad dollars while doing so. To go further, IMO, certain "content" creators (mostly glorified commentators) really don't deserve the amount of support they receive when there have been thousands of small time channels with actual original content who have been completely obscured for years (I stress again, this is simply my opinion, and I'm willing to say it's great if people manage to find a way to earn money simply by talking, I just don't respect it and would rather see animators/filmmakers receive success). That being said, CLEARLY millions of others do think they deserve support, to the point that they openly deem KZbin a dead platform...yet they never seem willing to show financial support. That's pretty odd.
@Ranzord957 жыл бұрын
It's also the sad result of people milking YT relying on cheap baits and uninspired more-of-the-same videos, which already made the enviroment hard for small creators, but also making the website less profitable, hence the measures. After all, YT is a company looking for profit.
@denisbrezovsky52717 жыл бұрын
The problem is however, that the discoverability of things on the internet has in a way gone down over the years, where often one site becomes fairly close to a monopoly, like youtube for videos, twitter for short conversation and shit positing etc. While they are private platforms they hold a huge amount of influence, given that all the most major public platforms today are owned by private corporations.
@Gr0tAsk7 жыл бұрын
@Tim Phillips I partly agree with your opinion, this is not censorship, just lack of support. But guess who can change their "content" easily to became "family friendly". Without real original content, you can adapt to the new rules, and get the support almost likr nothing happened. But original channels usually have a profile, and if it's not a family friendly, you either change your whole style or get the support elsewhere. Plus the "not original content creators" can also use patreon too, so they can utilize two ways of support: The platform, and their (bland) fans. So these changes does not encourage creators to be original (especially in certain topics, style, or genre) but don't worry, the lovely toy reaction channels will stay safe.

A hug from David Firth would certainly feel weird. But hey, I'd love a hug.

Ermmmm... that homelessness analogy was a bit off though :S Being creative is a real struggle, and important to the world, I totally get that, but people who're homeless are society's most judged, shunned, and Vulnerable people out there. So making some cute videos is a little bit of a Different struggle don't you think...

To be fair the age restriction on these videos is probably less about advertising and more about the fact a young child shouldn’t view these videos, it could have a big effect on their development.

wow, I haven't seen A Minute Of Your Time in quite awhile! nice to see a shoutout to Jim Ether, he's a very nice guy. he actually sent me a cutout of that Mr. Corn drawing, it may even be the original

Yeah Jim is THE MAN. He posted me some lovely art recently just because he's a nice guy. Everyone needs a bit of Ether in their veins.

Nice to hear your voice being you. Seeing your face on other people reminded me of Aphex Twin Window Licker album cover.. and also Aphex Twin "come to daddy" album art. I guess maybe that could also represent some influence to you. As you worked with some songs from them an also borders of canada from the very begining. PS: that wink from the milkman was just pure gold. I love you man !
