Great reaction.👍 He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I love these mythical sounds. You will immediately be transported into an oriental adventure film. The instrument used here is the Qobyz and it was a great idea by Dimash to use that here. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the Qobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 ​​octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. As already mentioned before, Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭 (and apparently many cameramen think so too, because in many close-ups of his performances only his hands can be seen. Thank you for your Dimash reaction , I love watching the shock on peoples faces as they listen to his amazing voice for the first time. He has been my favorite singer since I found him on I Am A Singer in 2017. You will not regret going down this rabbit hole . Dimash has a couple different videos singing with famous opera singers. He has a more recent song out called When I’ve got you which is different from his typical style of singing but I think you would really like it !

Dimash will very rarely tell you how to interpret his songs. You have to think about it and draw your own conclusions. He doesn't sing about his own life. He sings about bigger issues...peace, independence, freedom of thought and creativity, tolerance. Don't fall into a trap of trying to compare him to other singers. In an interview Dimash explained this song is aimed at immigrants who have to leave their homeland for example, for their safety. The instrument is a kobyz, an ancient precursor of the violin. The pianist is Igor Krutoy who composed it for Dimash. They have a close partnership. It must be thrilling for Krutoy to be able to write for someone who can hit every note humanly possible. He doesn't reside in China except when he's there to perform. He has spent several months in the U.S., California to be exact. He performed three quite different songs at this venue and won an award for being the young award winner who had gone the farthest in his career.

The cool instrument is called KOBYZ. It is an ancient Kazakh instrument. This song was written for Dimash, by Igor Krutoy, the bald guy who played the piano. He is a famous Russian composer who came out of retirement just to work with Dimash. He wrote several songs for Dimash.

Stranger was written by Igor Krutoy (on piano) especially for Dimash. They have collaborated on a number of songs, all brilliant. The instrument featured here is a Kazakh one called Kobyz or Qobyz & you will hear this beautiful instrument in a number of Dimash songs, especially his Kazakh folk songs, which are always fantastic. Another Kazakh instrument used a lot is a Dombra or Dombyra, which Dimash also plays. He truly is a once-in-a-lifetime artist. It was nice to see you discover Dimash through Angel Love but it was funny watching you work your way through Stranger 🤣 Dimash has songs of all genres, with his training there's absolutely nothing he can't do. I would highly recommend watching his music video Be With Me which is in English and then follow that up with The Pearl Fishers Duet. You mentioned Pavarotti? Well, Pavarotti was one of The Three Tenors, the other two were Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo. Dimash does a full on operatic duet with Placido which convinced even non opera lovers that it wasn't so bad after all.

Although some people continue to say the song is about immigrants or refugees, it was not written about that at all. If Dimash had sung the additional verse that was missed out from all of his Stranger performances perhaps it would have been much clearer what the song was about. The missing verse talks about remembering the feel of a sword in his hand and his skin being branded by fire, but now there is no sword and no scar. It is about reincarnation of the soul into a new body while still remembering something of his past life. This might be challenging for some people as the existence of reincarnation is not accepted by everyone. The song was written by Igor Krutoy (the bald guy at the piano) especially for Dimash to showcase his range and versatility. I love your reaction! Thank you! Lyrics to "Stranger" were written by US song writer Sharon Vaughn, inexplicably enough because her song writing history (which is a long one) includes almost exclusively songs for US country artists----nearly every major country artist of the '80s, '90s and beyond! I am not aware of how she came to write this one, or if it was written specifically for Dimash or if he just found it somewhere. Hopefully someone else knows.

If you need some confirmation of that, simply go to the video and read the credits at the bottom of the screen at the beginning. They are very clear. Sorry that you have somehow missed those preciously. Dude! Glad you got around to Dimash! He's phenomenal! Name a genre and he does it. For English he recently did a duet with Chante Moore of Teddy Swims Lose Control., The Dears have already filled you in on some other performances, and you really can't go wrong with any one you pick. I am always happy watching as new people learn of and recognize Dimash’s incredible talent, but even more so, I love as people recognize his humanity.
