I chose to do this as my first soldering project with an iron, microscope, and switch lite I purchased from temu for a total of $50, along with all the other parts from aliexpress. The microscope had absolutely horrible image quality and stopped working as I was attempting to put on the v2 adapter, so I was forced to eyeball the rest of the steps. Applying that adapter was for some reason the hardest part of the project for me, as I spent at least 30 minutes just trying to get the solder to connect to the caps and spent way too long trying to bridge the two pads, I am very lucky nothing got burnt or something. Eventually, I was able to solder everything correctly, albeit my wire routing was absolutely atrocious for I did not care to measure the length of the wires beforehand. I had issues with wires coming loose and the pico shorting with the metal backplate, so I had to resolder some points and cut a hole in the backplate 😂. All in all, it eventually got working, so I guess anything is possible if you believe in yourself.

I really like the instinct v6 chip because the cpu flex ribbon cable solder for a generic 2040 board is just hard to do reliably. Also the core 2040 mod which the Nand chip plugs directly into is so so soo good! Too bad the place I was getting mine from has vanished haha

The installation part isn't what kills me. It's having to wait weeks for the chips to arrive because the local people who sell them here triple the price. Great video btw, i wasn't even aware of this sort of chip until now. Reminds me of installing glitch chips to a 360.

Last time I attempted this mod, it was an exceptionally tight space and I ended up tearing the DAT0 pad. I'm going to try again soon. What size of iron tip did you use for the DAT0? And what is the gauge of wire you used?

Was it 300 c? That's over 500 degrees Fahrenheit! Do i really need to solder that hot? I usually don't solder past 204c (400f) with a good tip on my solder iron

@tvpartsworld is a god! Welcome back and cant wait to seem more vids. If you don't mind giving a few tips for us peasants. What solder iron tips are you using as well as the solder whether its lead free or not and lastly your temps, thank you so much. Biggest issues I have is swapping through 20 different solder tips as I cant find any that seems to work well for me.

@jrok96 Жыл бұрын
lead free solder is terrible to work with. so don't use that. you always think the smaller the tip the better right?. but then it doesn't transfer enough heat. you need to just practice with a slightly larger tip and youll figure it out. practice on some old cell phones sitting in your drawer first.

Hello, nice video there. But I have one question, can we use another 3,3v source? Bcs the 3,3v source at this video is too hard to solder for me.(very small component to solder, and i think 3,3v source near speaker is bigger than this)

i dont understand the sd card part why you need to update console + what you put in the sd card
@tvpartsworld806 Жыл бұрын
Because my customer wanted to use it online in ofw and offline in cfw. If you don't update the firmware to the latest version, you won't play online in ofw. In the video I copy HATS pack to the root of sd card, you can find the link in the video description.

Why do you ever solder a wire for the ground point if whole cpu cap serves as ground too? Possibly you could make a hole in double-sided tape and put some solder on ground point to make it touch cap.
@mortimermouse3086 Жыл бұрын
1 wire is easy
@tvpartsworld806 Жыл бұрын
IF the chip is not properly grounded, can cause more problems in the future. It always better to solder that wire to the ground, just in case.

I really wish I was able to do this but sadly I have no experience in soldering at all. Also, people that do this around here all charge about 150 euros for it. For that price it really isn't worth it.
why are you bothering with all this thread? the chip exists without doing all that

neither! they are all made by random Chinese factories. so if you get a supplier that makes one well then your golden. They both accomplish the same thing using slightly different micro-controller chips that's all.
