What flies under the radar, is the stress being constantly around toxic, abusive, or invalidating people. I made the experience that most people arent even aware they get mistreated. But your body and cortisol level knows. The body keeps the score.

I just went through something similar with anxiety that led to two weeks of insomnia. I was absolutely desperate and totally understand the bargaining with God in the middle of the night. I never get sick and one thing it did teach me was how to have so much more compassion And understanding for people that are going through issues. I always thought anxiety issues could be resolved from a strong mind and things like diet and exercise. I was humbled

Sometimes no amount of doing solves the health issues. I've been chronically sick for 14 years with CPTSD, MCAS, MCS, CIRS etc... and nothing has worked long term. I think it's important to truly appreciate good health because it's the most important thing to this experience. Without it everything else is so much harder and life quality is a faint memory. Inability to work, to socialise, to do things which give pleasure, etc. Stuck in a moment of time, on repeat every day.

You’re such a bright light! Two years ago, I had simple bunion surgery and developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. I’d never heard of it and had to self-diagnose and then convince my surgeon (even though there was no reason to doubt it was an accurate diagnosis). The nerve pain & other symptoms were extreme and all I read was it’s dubbed “the suicide disease”. Most people report the condition spreads and is debilitating. And mostly invisible. I also have a friend with bipolar disorder & college age kids who are suffering severely from her disease. All this to say, you’re so right that we just can’t know what someone is dealing with that isn’t obvious. Your work is changing the world, Judy! Thank you!!

The stress and thus cortisol of getting what I need to do carnivore is so high that I decided eating as meat/animal based whole food as possible and keeping sugars very minimal and unprocessed (not gone all together because the social isolation and disconnection from family and friends due to my dietary restriction was not good for me mentally or emotionally) is the path I’m taking because the stress is FAR less for me.

Perfect timing!! So relatable , and appreciated! Me….5 1/2 yrs, strict, healthy, fit, energized 71 yr, young Carnivore…never sick. Had a very mild Covid case, otherwise never sick even though I teach, at an elementary school with all those germy, sweet, little kids😅. I just got slammed, 5, days in the hospital, small bowel issue. Recovering, and then hit with a very bad, sore throat, and laryngitis Christmas Day!! I knew my life had a lot of stress, poor sleep, lack of seasonal sunlight, 😮 still Carnivore but over eating . I knew my cortisol was on overdrive! Stress, long term is our enemy, and we need to be a warrior for ourselves. Be aware, take care!❤

You know, wisdom is understanding what you have control over and then letting go of what you cannot control. My stress was not knowing the outcome of the election. Regardless of who won, the future was understandable and not within my control. So I don't fret over it. You have a lot of control over what is around you, and ultimate control over what you put in your mouth. I notice when people are stressed by things over which there is no control, they also give up control over the very things they can control.

I've done a lot of mind body work but I think I've just been under too much for far too long. I'll keep trying though. Just alot of crazy stuff on the horizon for me right now. You WILL remember this. I got so sick at the end of 2022 on Christmas Eve with what I *think* was COVID. It was the sickest I had ever been in my life. I had not been sick in 3 years and boasted about how wonderful my immune system was. But this illness/viral detox, came at the end of 2 years of high stress and high cortisol. I absolutely crashed. I was in bed for 2 weeks and could do NOTHING. I couldn't even read or look at my phone, I just could not do a thing. I begged for God to heal me, just like you. I will never forget that horrible fortnight ...

First time commenter: I want to thank you for this video; I have suffered from migraines for most of my life. Most of the time I go through my day just dealing with it as it's part of my norm. Often I find myself getting frustrated, as no one can see that I'm sick, and they don't understand and have the same expectations of me as someone who is not hurting. I am going keto in January and hope that it helps me with the migraines. Thank you for such good advice!

darktrailgirl, I also had migraines through my life and in childhood, my mom would take me for doctor visits for those. In 2012 when I decided to get serious about low-carb (Paleo at that time), it took me 9 days of low-carb paleo to get rid of my headaches. (I wrote out a daily health diary to record the changes). Headaches were routine for me my whole life with migraines thrown in here and there. Have you tried much low carb or keto before? It really does help with headaches! (We would often do keto in the 70s and 80s along with my mom, but growing up, I never equated diet and health symptoms so I didn't write down back then if low-carb helped my headaches growing up. Now, each time I decide to be good with eating, I record physical feelings I have in all parts of my body.

@@librarianlovesrick Thank you for this imput! I have tried before but just went low-carb a few times, maybe 80 to 100 carbs a day. I felt much better and migraines still happened, but not so painful most of the time (did have one bad one, but might be b/c my body was adjusting). Alas, I slowly fell off the wagon and have been eating standard food again and the migraines are happening more often now. Sorry to hear about yours but so glad to hear they went away - that must be amazing for you!

Never have migraine after few rounds of TCM curing my stomach. Heard so many testimonials on migraines going away on carnivore diet, so be strict for a month and see if it helps. Do not eat any berry or vegetable day by day n see if it helps.❤

Thanks, Judy! I want to comment on on everything you said, but I won’t.😄 I just got over being sick as well. My husband was in the hospital and I was telling his friends not to come see him because I did not want them getting sick from just being in the hospital. And of course I ended up getting sick. What? I’m not superwoman? Mine was definitely stress, making sure he had higher quality meat based meals, and other things he needed. As a result, we moved out of our house until I remediation happens in a couple weeks . No stress there…

35 years and counting of chronic illness here, and a 3 year old back injury now. You've said a lot of truth here Judy. One of my symptoms is fatigue, and it is not just being tired. It's like wearing a 100 pound vest constantly. I don't sleep well a lot of the time either. People just don't understand that sleeping well doesn't help with the fatigue, neither does resting. They expect you to keep going like everyone else. I'm on the local Emmaus board, and think I need to tell them to find someone else... Board meetings sometimes run 2-3 hours, ending at 9:30 p.m. It kills me, especially if I've worked that day. Thank you for your compassion. 😊

Thank you Judy. I’ve been carnivore for 3 and a half years and over the past 6 months the I’m noticing weight gain. This talk of yours has confirmed my instinctive feeling that my stressors are higher than I fully realise which must be raising my cortisol levels causing the weight gain. +14 years clean keto then carnivore and my immune system stayed firmly in the crapper. I’ve had Covid 4 times, severe shingles for 8 weeks in 2016, and countless colds, plus so many other days of flu type symptoms that kept me at homework. I finally reintroduced some carbs several months ago and I feel better and more energetic overall, plus years of chronic diarrhea ended, an unexpected life changing benefit. I have 5 autoimmune conditions that are currently pretty good. I still prioritize protein. I started going to a small church about 18 months ago, and community has been great for my total well being, even though I lean toward being introverted. Prayers for your recovery. Have you considered terrain theory versus germ theory? Well, I don’t think germs can inherently make a sick we are exposed to multiple toxins in our environments that are more than just microbes - emf, toxic cleaning products, blue light, vocs toxic personal care products. I can imagine that you and your sons were exposed to some of the same toxic things…. awful headaches on carnivore… I may have mold in my environment. flus and fevers as a form of the body detoxing.. still feels awful though.

The sickest I've ever been was a year and a half into carnivore. It started with respiratory symptoms. A sore throat and a cough so bad I couldn't sleep. Then came intense pain in my left sinus radiating up my jaw into my ear. And then conjunctivitis. All the while a fever of 103. After multiple sleepless nights - and I mean COMPLETELY sleepless - I ended up driving myself to urgent care. At that point I hadn't slept in 52 hours and I was having trouble breathing, my left ear was totally blocked and my eyes felt like they were filled with glass. I was forcibly swabbed for COVID/RSV/Flu (all negative). I have no idea what I had, but I had an ear infection and double conjunctivitis. I was given a nebulizer, an inhaler, steroids, and antibiotics. I then drove an hour to my parents' house so my mom could take care of me. To this day I don't know how I drove that distance, and on the highway too, as sleep deprived as I was. I was hallucinating. I would have probably been better off driving drunk, but I didn't have a choice, I couldn't take care of myself at all. It was horrendous. And my gut has been even more messed up than it was, and that was almost two years ago now.

Thank you! I have been on carnivore for a year, but three months ago I got a kidney infection and doc put me on a very strong antibiotic which destroyed my gut bio, good stuff. Effected every joint in my body and finally, coming back, I think, from that. Hardly move. Still carnivore, but I had to do some herbal remedies to help with pain and build my muscles back. Collagen and a salve that takes pain away and builds tendons and strains. It had comfrey, thyme, horsetail, frankincense, and other stuff that takes away inflammation. It is working, I was surprised, but also building back my gut prebiotic and probiotic pills. Three months of pain. I thought, Carnivore had made me invincible, cause I was feeling so good. Almost broke my resolve. Trying to get back on track...collagen seems to be helping.

Thanks Judy. Some good reminders here and quite timely for me, as I am feeling run down after an eight day interstate road trip here in Oz. While I still cooked my own meals, they weren't always at the right time, and choices of meat maybe not always the freshest plus less access to organic veg. Also spent way too many hours driving, caught up with more people than probably should have in such a short space of time, and regularly went to bed around midnight. Also, some exposure to cigarette smoke and unfiltered shower heads (I often smelled chlorine in tap water).

I've been trying the diet for almost 3 months, not doing well. I have no gallbladder and extra fat causes heartburn, I have bone loss around my teeth and it's painful to chew so meat is a real struggle, I don't get hungry so I've been eating less and less, nowhere near what you say is enough. I feel like I've hit a dead end. Perhaps the Lord led me here, but how do you not give up when there seems nothing left to try?

This was exactly what I needed to hear this morning. I think the Lord put it on your heart to encourage your listeners…..thank you for listening and making the video, Judy. …. “who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God”. 2 Cor 1:4.

🧸hope you’re getting better daily, Judy. I’m a big proponent of getting into nature esp if sick.. In Connecticut, I’m fortunate to live near the Sound and can go to the beach to do some grounding, get some negative ions, and sun exposure. There are times when I need someone to bring me. It’s frustrating but is for my health.

Thank you Dr Judy, I needed to hear some of these things today. I am the type of person that prefers to be alone, no friends, don't like "family time" and sometimes I wonder if being alone most all my life will affect me some day but I think, as long as you are happy and take good care of your mind and body, you should be fine. Thank you.

I haven't been sick since 2017, when I started Keto/carnivore during cancer treatment. I got sick last week, symptoms sound similar to yours. I am a dog walker and walk 3-5 hours a day. Maybe we just get sick if it resolves and is infrequent, it's ok. It gets non-specific cells and chemicals to clear us out.

Balance of carbs protein and fat. Was keto before it was cool. Did it for 5 years and I ended up with low testosterone, my sleep sucked and my competitive running tanked. Went back to 250-300 grams of healthy carbs 30% protein and 20% fats. Everything improved within 2 weeks. And I now enjoy food again

Stress is a KILLER. I've been carnivore for 2 years. I lost my job in May, had breast explant surgery in June and found a new July. I thought I could handle the stress - NOT. It didn't happen right away but in November I started to get generalized anxiety symptoms. Still suffering from some symptoms. Plus I got the flu bug in December but it only lasted 1 week. I do believe eating carnivore helps tremendously but it's not a cure all.

Thanks for doing this excellent video despite not feeling 100%. Peat would consider the carnivore diet a high-cortisol diet, and glucose necessary to inhibit the stress response. Regarding immune system health during winter months, I am surprised you did not mention iodine and copper since you have interviewed specialists in these minerals on your channel.

That's interesting how carnivore is a high cortisol diet. I'm 1 year down that road and feel way worse with every passing month. I tried reworking, re-tweaking yet I feel have awful symptoms. I will check out Ray Peat (is that his name?) and consider introducing a small amount of carbs. 🤗

@@deborahpharaoh4505 Sorry to hear that. Yes, I was referring to Ray Peat. His writings are freely available online, but can take time to absorb. The TLDR is he recommends simple sugars in the form of fruit mainly, particularly orange juice, but you should experiment and figure out which carb souce suits you best. Please watch Paul Saladino's videos, since he's moved in a Peaty direction after starting out as a strict carnivore.

Thank you for sharing Judy. I got a head cold/ flu at the end of November for 3 days was floored, then suddenly much better only blocked nose persisted. Then I went to visit family for two weeks and on my return got sick. Again floored for 3 days then suddenly much better with blocked nose a sore throat persisting for another 2 weeks. I didn’t get flu for the last 10 years. Had Covid once. Carnivore 18 months. That was weird. I definitely had a stressful year.

I went through something similar, except it wasn't bad. My son got really sick for a few days, and I didn't think I would get sick at all. I got sick about a week after he did. It wasn't bad, but I took my homemade mullein tincture every day for a week about 3 times a day. I have fallen off the wagon a little for the past month, but now that I feel better, I'm getting back on track.

I remember hearing about a study, in the 90's, that was looking at chicken pox virus may be protective against glioblastoma. Theory was it lives dormant in the neurons and protective. I never looked further into it, but it always had me think maybe viruses serve a beneficial purpose to some. You get sick, non specific cells clean up and we are forced to reset and rest.

I know what you mean about sleep. A few months ago, a neighbour asked me to look after his dog because he was sick and needed to go to the hospital. The dog was unsettled and kept waking me up, which went on for three nights. Meanwhile my neighbour was diagnosed with covid. (One week after his booster jab, but that’s another story). So I came down with covid too - for the first time! I had previously felt very healthy and bulletproof due to healthy keto diet and sunshine and exercise etc. I firmly believe that the only reason I became sick was due to the bad sleep for those three nights.

I think this is my first comment at your channel. You helped already a lot. But me and my family are in a strange situation where we can't reach our maximal potential. It's mostly becuse our children goes to kindergarten and they just importing all the disseases especially in the winter because one is still breastfed but both sleeping with mama. We aren't seriously ill fortunatley but it's enough to be tired, tend to be more sad or angry, loose motivation etc. It's very hard to do that way but probably if mama would stop breastfeeding and send them to their room, their illness would be much more serious and we don't want that. Above that once i red a study that scutinized blood groups and virus severitys, and mine was the worst, probably my kids got also this bg, so it's extra important to protect them, i learned already how to manage my problems. Anyway, thanks for sharing all this informations!
