Four Baby Seals Rescued From Fishing Lines

Four baby seals were rescued, and each seal was entangled in a recreational fishing line. Recreational fishermen depend on the ocean for food, but in return, they treat it like a trash can, which is unfair. When their line gets knotted, they simply toss it into the water, which is irresponsible and ends up threatening the lives of these innocent marine creatures. This should stop!

It’s called getting your eye in and learning the feel mate. I used too know if my beam trawls were fishing correctly just by hanging on the warp and feeling it bump along the sea bed ✌️🇬🇧

We use binoculars and telescopes for assistance. These tools, along with LOTS of practice, patience, and combined luck, enable us to spot entanglements. It also got easier over time with experience.

Eighty thousand seal pups are legally culled by the Namibian authorities every year. So the chances are that some of the rescued pups are killed shortl;y afterwards.

Hi guys, I think you do a fantastic job spotting these seals that need help among so many! Four seal pups rescued from recreational fishing lines, it's a shame these fishermen can't be a bit more responsible with these lines and stop throwing them into the water when they get knotted, as you rightly say, it should stop. You are magicians to see these entanglements while everybody is stampeding to the ocean. After watching for years, I rarely see who is entangled in these lethal lines until you net them. You will be happy to note that I no longer hold my breath during the chases because I know you will be victorious & lives will be saved. doing everything you can to give the seals a much better life, after cutting away lines, nets, straps, ropes and other rubbish. they count on you for their survival. if the people on boats, and those that handled waste in all those countries were as caring as all of you are, the world would begin to be a much better place for the animals👍👍
