The seal says, "I'm here lounging on the beach, but I can't breath very well, then these humans come running after me, I start to protest, then they jump on me and I hear cutting noises. Oh, now I can breath, time to go for a swim". In other words this critter is saying 'thank you'. They really love you guys they' just don't know how to show it.

Looks like two pieces of thin line a 1/4" apart around her neck wore down into her neck and created the fur necklace. Always interesting, thanks!

Yes, I think you‘re right. Probably, she is a recapture and the team already removed the actual entanglement. The blood supply between the two strands seemed to be cut off and that piece of skin died off.

I agree, likely an entanglement that caused an intact loop of her own skin to become detached. Truly weird, especially given the fact that the entanglement is no longer present (unless it was embedded deep in the wound, with tissue growing over it).

I highly doubt it's her own. The only thing I can think is that another sea lion got eaten and it left that ring floating out in the ocean. The chances of that are crazy tho. Perhaps not as crazy as we thought tho. This whole chasing down and saving entangled animals full time is kind of a new thing. I wonder if well see it again in the coming years.

The issue is there are not enough people like them. So many more could be helping or donating to help. All these rich people around the world sitting on billions and doing nothing good with it. These people have to rely on your average income people. Its pretty sad.

Living in Australia, with our huge length of coastline, I hate to think of the thousands of sea creatures that need our help. I am not sure if we have any organisation doing this work. If one of this group could find time to give a TED talk, that would be a start. And all of us collecting rubbish especially fishing line every time we go to the beach.Every little bit helps. And education is so important. Teach our kids, starting at home. Thanks so much all of you.
