What is a "tag" exactly and how is the line so deep inside the seal?

@@shovanabajracharya The "tag" is the loose ends of the line or rope hanging down. It indicates where the knot is, so if you find the "tag" it's easier to remove the line or rope safely without hurting the seal. When a seal is entangled for a while, the line gets tighter as the seal grows or gains weight and cuts into the flesh. At some point the skin around the wound will start to grow back together and grows over the line - thats how the line got into the seal.

When Denzil spotted the tag on the shoulder, I literally started crying, and said "thank you Lord!" Honestly I almost never cry at these videos, but just watching Denzil throughout, I could see he wasn't going to give up. When everybody else was agreeing it was time to let her go, Denzil would not stop looking for a way in, and I knew he was going to find it. Such faithful devotion to the wellbeing of these creatures. It's beautiful and moving.

Oh my godfather, that was a suspenseful rescue. That poor seal must have been in so much pain. Thank you so much for continuing to try to find a way to at the very least release the tension in the knot. We done for continuing despite the smell and difficulty. Thank goodness Denzil spotted the tag! I tell you what, that seal is definitely one of the luckiest on the beach today/yesterday. It's just after midnight here in Sydney. What a shame that would have been. Thankfully, their messing with the entanglement loosened it enough so Denzil could see the tag. Yippee for another wonderful save. In the short to medium term, it probably hurt a lot more than normal. Pulling it out of partially healed and inflamed tissue would cause a lot of new damage. Now, the wound would have a chance to heal and clear the infection, so medium term she is going to recover and the wound close up.

Great job team !!! To help with the smell, being a cop in the USA many of us carry a small tube of Vicks Vaporub with us in case we encounter something smelly (dead body etc. ) just put a small dab under your nose and you just smell the Vicks, hopefully that product is available in your area.

I LOVE the method. Dark clothing, low crouch to approach, full-out sprint until contact. You cannot give up...not ever or not until aid could/would not change the outcome. If there is a chance at a positive outcome, take it, unless doing so would lessen the chances of survival. When you think of it, you have little to lose if not giving aid would end in death anyway.

What a drama, I was nearly loosing my mind seeing what impossible situation it was and I could see poor seal dying in water because blood poisoning as gangrene would start to consume her tissue. Incredibly repulsive taught that she might be lost because some idiot was throwing fishing line in the water. Thanks guys you are truly saviour of the seals.
